Now both of these cameras are built for a pro environment, and you can really tell that when you pick them both up.
The Canon feels incredibly robust, definitely taking shape from the previous mark i version. It’s definitely a heavier camera though, so if you are stepping up from a more basic camera, you’re definitely going to notice it.
On the other hand the Nikon also feels very robust. Both of these cameras defintely do feel like they could take a bit of a beating.
Boht cameras are weather sealed so should stand up to some rougher conditions, which is also good to know. Overall both cameras are very well built and while heavy, they will hold up very well in most pro environments.
By way guys, let me if you could win either a Canon 7d mark ii or a Nikon D500 which one would it be and why and i’ll take a look at your commetns.
Let’s turn these cameras around and take a quick look at their lcd screens.
And the first thing you’re going to notice is that the d500 has an articulating screen, wheras the 7d doesn’t. It was a bit of a shock that nikon included it, as its generally seen to be a bit a bit of a consumer item, but I'm glad they did.
Although it’s not a full articulating screen, it can swivel up and down which makes composing your shot easier, especially in tight spots.
I can understand why Canon might have left the articulating screen off the 7d mark ii, but in 2022, i really think its a real bonus having it on the d500, so good job nikon.
By the way giys, if you want to see some sample images taken with the Nikon D500, i’ll put a link in the description box below and you can take a look in your own time.
Another small difference on the screens of both of these cameras is that the D500 has a touch screen.
This can help you choose exactly where you want your focus point to be. On the Canon 7D, the only way to move this is using the trigger on the side here.
But to be fair, the implementation of the touch screen on the Nikon really isn’t that great. Compared to other cameras like the Canon 80d it’s no where near as responsive and using the live view to focus doesn’t really compare.
So it’s nice to see that Nikon are including the touch screen on the d500, but you’re not really missing out on much if you have the 7d.
By the way guys i’ve also got my hands on the Nikon D7200 and the Canon 80d so if you’d like me to do a comparison between these cameras and the d500, let me know by leaving a thumbs up on this video video.
Now if you’ve used either a Nikon or Canon camera before, you’ll feel right at home with the menu on both of these cameras.
Both cameras are very well stocked with lots of options for changing pretty much every setting you can think of. I do however prefer the mode dial on the top of the Canon here. With the Nikon it does sometimes feel a little slower, but again, your preference might be diffrerne.t
I like that both cameras have a number of different buttons never the shutoff button and both have dedicated record buttons in close range. So overall both are very nice, and it’s likely that you’ll feel right at home on the body you’r most used to.
Let's quickly take a look at the viewfinders on both of these cameras and I’ve been impressed with both of these viewfinders.
They both have 100% coverage, which means you’re going to be seeing exactly what you’re taking through the viewfiner.
Now one interesting difference between these two cameras is at the top here.
The Canon 7D Mark ii includes a built in flash, whereas the nikon doesnt.
Now I honestly don’t use the build in flash a lot, and I’m sure a lot of you don’t either, but having it in a pinch isn’t a bad thing and something you might want to consider if you think might need it.
Something I like that both of the se cameras have is the inclusion of dual memory card slots.
To me, this really shows that both Nikon and Canon do understand that photographers need to have option to back up their photoso, especially at important events like weddings and sporting events.
So both are good on that end.
Now both of these cameras are touted as Canon & Nikons best sports and wildlife cameras under $3000 and in my testing, they really do live up to the hype.
YOu can really tell that this is what they’re built for. The heavy weatherproofed bodies, fast af and fast shutter speeds make both the 7d and the d500 perfect for these types of shooting.
Now both of the cameras have a max burst rate of 10 shots per second, making them perfect for capturing a number of shots quickly in a row.
