God, I just realised Lalo spoke in Spanish to the nurse to make sure that she couldn't understand what he was saying to Hector. So smart.
There's so many little details in this show it's insane haha, excellent catch!!
@@BrandonLikesMovies I have to look up a lot of stuff after every episode
Once I absorbed the first episode I realized just how heartless and cruel Lalo really is. He had possibly years planned to set up that guy to be slaughtered like an animal incase he ever needed to fake his death. He even made sure his dental work matched his teeth! Incredible stuff.
Yeah it's insane the level of planning that goes into the things he does, the perfect opponent for Gus
Just like how Gus executed Victor. Tying up loose ends.
Lalo is a great guy! Always cooking for Nacho and his men, super polite, gives Jimmy 100k for a couple days work, thanking Gus for keeping Hector alive, gives the people their money back at the border, nice to his family, gives his disabled uncle gifts
"Slaughtered like an animal" is the perfect simile. He clearly cares for these people, in his way, keeping them healthy and happy. But when the time comes, he dispatches them without a second thought. That lady thought she was raising goats, but she and her husband were the goats.
I think it’s pretty common for drug kingpins to have body doubles. He probably wasn’t JUST for dead body purposes, but just to impersonate him too. But, yeah, the dental work thing is some high level planning.
I noticed his reaction to the woman talking about the upcoming goat births and it seemed like he maybe had a little remorse knowing she wasn’t going to live to see them.
The fact that the peasant had his teeth fixed by Lalo's dentist proves that he had saved him as a body double, for a rainy day. He looked like him and he had him trim his beard like his for this special occasion, to take his place in death...
A different level of evil.
He raised him literally like a Pig for slaughter… except instead of Bacon, Lalo gets to buy some time until Gus figures it out completely
Plz explain??
@@vincecxf he killed the guy that looks like him so they think he's dead
I think the cross being framed behind Lalo and the cross symbol in the back of the truck could be more symbolizing Lalo “has risen from the dead”
Ohhh that's definitely a possibility too
I'm worried about Nacho.
I'm worried about Kim.
I'm worried about Nacho's dad.
I'm worried about Howard.
This show has me in a ball of worry. lol
All those name and not a single mention of Gene. Dude was forgotten in his own show.
@@nont18411 to be honest, it didn't really dawn on me that Gene could be at risk. He's been invincible so far... And with it being a prequel, I think we're all sitting with that false sense of security that he'll be fine, because Saul survives to Breaking Bad. We forget that the Gene scenes aren't safe.
this is gonna be the best season bruh this first half is rediculous lol
the cinematography for these two episodes has been insane
For real, they're going all out
The song in the cold open is a jazz standard called “Days of Wine and Roses.” It’s where the episode gets it’s title from. But it’s also interesting to note, that the song is the title track from a movie about a relationship becoming toxic and abusive. I wonder what implication that has on Jimmy and Kim.
I think they are telling the Macbeth story....
Well Kim either dies or she gets a new life by the vacuum salesman dude. She wasn't in breaking bad so.. and I'm guessing lalo and nacho both die
That music made for a gorgeous opening and I felt the music matched the luxury home that's now being completely cleaned out. Also, that music and imagery was rather mesmerizing and eased us into the episode.
The first shot was actually filmed in color, they just started by dumping in black and white ties. Brilliantly simple.
Im so worried about Nacho, I'm starting to think he doesnt make it out alive because of how much Mike was trying to push Jessie to get out as soon as he could. Maybe Nacho is the reason for that??
That’s been my prediction all along tbh
@@DaFootyChannel the earlier seasons I always thought he would get out forsure but now it just seems like Gus thinks hes a liability
I can't see the Varga's getting out unscathed, either Nacho goes or his father does
@@skapoodlev2744 as soon as Mike started trying looking out for him, I thought “ah shit I can see where this is going” (ie. Explaining his relationship with Jesse)
I’ve only ever seen BB once though so maybe I’m off haha
@@mcgfn if nacho's father died I feel like Mike wouldn't be how he is with Gus in BB. Nacho's father is completly innocent and I think that would make Mike look at Gus diffrent.
I've been looking forward to these reactions *nearly* as much as the return of the show itself.
Glad we can enjoy the final season together 😁
marco and leonel looked actually really upset when they saw "lalo" in the kitchen. i haven't really seen a ton of emotion from them, but they seemed to be really devastated there, and with how lalo called them "good boys" maybe they were close. nacho is so incredibly fucked.
At first I was wondering who in the world you were talking about then I realized it was the twins haha
I love that now we get to hear your guesses but not know the answers either.
Haha quite a change!
21:34 “Yeah cause a bomb was just dropped on him”. Not sure if that was deliberate but excellent choice of words 😂
“I won.” - Heisenberg
“The days of wine and roses” - a song of season 6 based on the movie of a same name.
The movie is about “Joe (Jimmy)” and “Kirsten (Kim)” who formed a romantic relationship based on constant partying and drinking. The blooming marriage turned into a disaster since both of them had fallen into alcoholism. In the end of the story, Joe was the only one who succeeded in rehab while Kirsten was quite far gone and alienated herself from her own daughter. However, Joe didn’t give up on her and the movie had a bittersweet ending that the family was still broken but had a prospect of fixing it back.
This reference to BCS and BrBa seems on the nose. We all know that the trajectory about Jimmy and Kim relationship is that Jimmy bringing Kim into the dark path and destroying both of their lives together. Joe succeeding with his rehab while Kirsten failed might be about how Jimmy survived throughout Better Call Saul and Breaking Bad while Kim wasn’t even exist in Breaking Bad. She might not be alive at that point. Now with Jimmy becoming Gene, the whole “Joe not giving up on Kirsten” might be a foreshadowing for a huge redemption arc for him. Gene may need to do something to make amends with pain and suffering he caused Kim. He might end up getting in jail or die for it (or getting in jail AND die for it because winner takes it all) in order to save Kim in some form. Whatever Gene’s ending will be, I think it will be a tragic but also redemptively beautiful conclusion to his story.
idk if either one of them will die, but what you've written here... I've been thinking is what would happen in the show. When I learned about the first ep title (when it was first revealed WEEKS ago) and the fact that it's also the title of an old movie about a relationship... I have a feeling the show will VERY much mirror that movie.
ohh this is gonna hurt :(
And here we are again, back for another season of masterful TV. These episodes have not let up since watching them and I already know they're going to be more breathtaking as the series goes on.
These first 2 episodes were amazing. The cold open for episode 1 was crazy. Saul's house, wow. And the tequila stopper was a big clue to Kim's presence or death in the Breaking bad timline. Absolutely is. Can't wait for more episodes. Enjoy your videos on them too. Can't wait for more.✌
I think it supports my Macbeth theory. It's all about Saul's rise and fall and what Kim is willing to do to get him the throne (symbolized by the golden (throne) toilet. The palace is in ruins. The stopper is a crown and it is fallen.
@@sallyatticum possibly
@@jasonvoorhees310 That's my theory. I think I am sticking to it. heh. If Howard is McDuff, he takes Saul out in the end and Kim takes herself out. Of course, they could change the ending, even if that is the inspiration.
“you were just following orders” so awful but hilarious
Love how Mike always looking up for people like Nacho and Jesse since it has that fatherly figure that didn't had the chance to live with his son
The intro was the timeline right after Saul went to the vacuum guy.
I watched this episode a few times now and until you mentioned it didnt connect the foreshadowing of Jimmy ordering a Coke. On first watch did notice they seemed to put it in the show for a reason. Damn theyre good! Great catch!! So happy its finally back!!
Love all the little moments like that!
I don't recall the connection to a coke. Can you please explain?
@@t0dd000 When Jimmy meets Kim at that restaurant and Kim brings up going after Howard Jimmy is hesitant. Then the waitress asks if he wants a drink and he says " Yeah a Coke". Then later on they plant fake Coke aka Cocaine on Howard.
They actually have an ant wrangler. I learned this recently when they were discussing the ants on the ice cream cone from last season.
Some good old-fashioned movie magic using real World skills... 💖
@@Cyborgannatheir attention to detail is next level. I just wondered how much call there is for ant wrangling and what's involved. I know they have special casting agencies for specific types of actors and animals, but how do ant wranglers stay in business? Do they manage other insects? I'm seriously fascinated by this now.
@@laurettelaliberte8864 I'm pretty fascinated too! In a shoot I attended the Insects, Arachnids, Reptiles and the 2 Huskies were all provided by one agency and we could only handle them with one of their reps present at all times. And that was just a low budget Model shoot. Honestly unsure how tight/regulated/skilled things get as this level... 💖
Man I'm gonna be just as sad when Breaking Bad ended. I've been riding with you since those days. Keep on doing what you do, Brandon!
Love how the protagonists in Breaking Bad universe have different insect representation
Walter White - Fly (Walter’s inability to escape from moral corruption, which he will later embrace it until the end of his life)
Jesse Pinkman - Beetle (Jesse’s metamorphosis in the pupa or ugly state that he had to suffer and lose a lot of his loved ones thanks to “the game” but because of his strong moral compass, he pulled through and has a beautiful ending just like how an ugly pupa turned into a beautiful beetle)
Jimmy McGill - Ant (Jimmy’s internal and external threats. His sense of Slippin’ Jimmy bred from anti-establishment sentiment and the constant moral corruption from Kim, Mike, Walter and Lalo slowly but surely eating away his conscience and sanity, leaving him only a shell name Gene Takavic, a sad man living in a colorless purgatory)
Odenkirk is amazing from Mr. Show to writing for SNL, creating the character for Chris Farley's 'Motivational Speaker', helping launch 'Tim and Eric's careers, the list goes on!
The introductory scene had a ton of callbacks from bcs. The sneakers, bingo balls, Mesa Verde photo, and more. It also makes me think that Kim is not with Saul anymore.
The opening scenes are post breaking bad so we know Kim isn’t with him anymore.
@@dominicktyler8775 I know but the narrator in this video suggests it may have been kim.
The crucifix was definitely intentional. Also notice how the door framing in the scene is an upside down cross
My guess is it is alluding to Lalo as being resurrected after being presumed dead.
Amazing season premiere and that first 6 minutes! 🤯 I like how they make it a 50/50 chance that Kim was living with Jimmy in his house during BB timeline.
13:31 Love this framing, how they use the window bars to separate Jimmy and Kim
Great catch!
@@BrandonLikesMovies This might be a reach but i notice other examples like 11:51 and 12:06.
Anyway, excellent cinematography of BCS.
@@BrandonLikesMovies Also how the shadow of the bars were over Kim on the wall. Makes you wonder. I just love this show.
Ayo! Didn’t even notice that coke foreshadow, great catch. Did you notice how when Jimmy and Kim are discuss their plan, the shot has them behind bars. Could this be warning us of their possible fate?
Better Call Brandon for the best reactions!!
The shot with the ties at the beginning, theres no special effects at all, it's all practical. The first ties you see are black, white, and gray, then the other ties are obvious of different colors. Very cool use of practical effects.
that’s what I figured when I saw it
I feel like the black and white ties falling at first, then colored ties right after symbolizes the Gene and Saul timelines coming together. Opening scene is after Saul goes with Vacuum Guy and gets everything repo'd by government after being wanted.
I agree! I also felt that way based off the artwork for the show. The black and white gene and the red coat. Is he putting it on again or taking it off? Can't tell but all will be revealed soon.
can i just say how much i love that 'marble' scene with Mike? just watching his grandkid just putting marbles through those little tubes?
its just so satisfying, its a 10/10
I didn't catch it the first time I watched it but I think Lalo told the mountain man to shave his beard like his own (mustache and soul patch) and he then killed the guy and burned his body at the crime scene to make it look like him being dead. I could be wrong tho but I think thats what he did! Love the content Brandon!
I realized that while watching the 2nd episode too! Love that they don't spell it out but let people connect the dots on their own 😁
He set the man up with the dentist, but put his own name on the dental records. This was a long term plan to use the look-alike's body in the case he ever needed to fake his own death.
@@JeffTheHokie MINDBLOWN 🤯🤯🤯
21:34 'because a bomb was just dropped on him'. You didn't get the irony of that phrase Brandon?🤣
I just realized the teeth thing!! Fuck this show is brilliant!
Lets go brandon! Missed the reactions to the breaking bad and Saul universe!
I can't wait to go through this final season with my man Brandon. It's been a fun ride over the last couple years.
fun fact : when Nacho gets the keys for his room the lady is watching the Argentinian version of Married with Children which aired from 2005 to 2006 so maybe this takes place in '05
Been waiting for this one. Good to have you back in the BrBa/El Camino/BCS universe Brandon!
the burnt person in the kitchen is the long bearded guy from the beginning, lalo killed him there because he looks like him and to make the twins get fed up
Not only did he look, but the teeth work Lalo paid for was to make his teeth match Lalos. Which is the only way to match someone that when the body/face is unrecognizable. They said it “the teeth match”. It’s crazy planning from Lalo!
I'm sorry but I don't think I understood the "Coke" reference as foreshadowing. Please explain someone?
Cocaine is also called coke. Their plan to destroy Howard Hamlin involves cocaine.
@@Shaesi. ohhh hahah
This is the first time I'm watching your reactions knowing the same as you do, kinda cool
2:54 I just noticed the Flak Jackets
Saul was wearing one in BB when he went to see Walter in the Car Wash
Welcome back, man! Cant wait for your reaction for second episode!
“HE DEFECATED IN A GOLDEN TOILET!”
love the hat brandon!
Thanks 😄
THIS is the reaction I’ve been waiting for.
Kevin got T-posed on hahahaha
motion capture actors T-pose during spousal arguments to assert dominance
Finally. I loved the first 2 episodes and now even more with Brandons reaction. Hypetime!
Although I haven't watch bb nor bcs (but know of it) I love watching ur reaction to anything!💙
I highly recommend watching them if you love the drama/thriller genre of TV 😁
@@BrandonLikesMovies will most definitely check it out!🔥💙
Walter White was lucky he never faced Lalo.
This is just top notch television, have been a rough 2 years waiting 😭
13:05 vince gilligan is a genius.
I didn't even notice that, thanks brandon.
Spent the last couple weeks rewatching the whole series after finishing season 5 when it came out. The excitement I felt loading up this episode is completely unrivaled.
What a show guys. What a freakin show.
Been waiting for your reaction to this for over 2 years!!! ITS SHOW TIME!!! You the man B!🤙 Hope you’re having a great day! Much love and Respect brother🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Good timing brandon saying ya "a bomb was just dropped on him" as Hector was ringing his bell lol
I'm enjoying these comments after seeing the series 3 or 4 times.
"A bomb was just dropped on him."
Ooooooo....too soon?
😆
Been a while glad to be back 😁
Had this on my Google calendar to alert me when the season started. Such a great series.
Wait its out? I have not heard these news, going to go watch it as soon as possible!!
I found it late as well lol. I like when my favorite shows sneak up on me
And not just 1, but 2 episodes!
WE"VE BEEN WAITING!!!!
Brandon his office location is purposely in a bad area to attract shady clients
I am excited that my favorite show is back, finally. Also this makes me so happy that BB/BCS fans all over the world are celebrating this final event, as they should.
Thank you, Brandon! It's always a pleasure to watch along with you. Can't wait for your reaction to the Carrot and Stick episode!
Oh man am I ready for these reactions again. Your season 5 reactions were a great recap.
Would have missed out on this great show and the hype atm If it wasnt for you, when I finished ep2 I was sad but then I thought " OH WAIT BRANDON REACTION SOON" and here we are, love you, HYPE.
Can't believe we're here Brandon after a long ass time haha you're the best bruh 🤘🏽💯
Yes! Brandon back with some Saul!!!!! The long await is here. I found you through breaking bad and been a fan of yours since. ✌️
The writing on this show is top notch!!
Feels great to have a reaction in the BB universe, I started watching ur channel for the breaking bad reactions. Then I watched better call saul again just to keep with with those reactions. I honestly have no idea how they’re gonna wrap up this season, and it’s very exciting. Thanks for the entertainment through these years Brandon. Definitely helped me through them.
Edit: try to stay away from the comments if you already aren’t. There’s spoilers in the community so you never know if they’ll comment here.
14:12 AR GEN TINA! AR GEN TINA! JAJAJAJA
That's a brilliant insight I've not seen before about the absence of a Black & White scene meaning it'd spoil us about who survives this final season that we don't already know does.
I feel like we’ve gone from catching up our friend to now being able to watch the Super Bowl live with him! 😆
Dave Porter never fails to amaze me!
Love listening to his work!
Yay! I was here for the Sunny content but didn't know you did Better Call Saul. Our one-sided relationship doesn't have to end!
I love the scene where Mike opens the refrigerator to get the lemonade
Were here! Missed these reactions from you. Can't wait to watch along
Brandon, there are a lot of behind the scenes videos on YT for BCS. I think you especially would love to see how some of these scenes are created
This was excellent!
Its so nice having people react to the episodes as they come out and we can all be along for the journey, youtube reacting was still in the early days when BB was airing so you never really got that level of interaction. Also you mentioned at the beginning when they were raiding his home that this is before BB but it seems like its after BB when Saul went on the run. Just a lil confused
Welcome back to all the BB and BCS family new and old!
"It's wall-to-wall mayonnaise in here!" Love it!
I'm glad you realised it was after Walt got caught. Was almost screaming at the TV 😂. Then you realised
Walt never got caught!
@@weswesyall2827 i think people knew what i meant. After he was found out
It's good to be back
I so hope the final shot before the opening credits is telling us that Kim was with Saul during the Breaking Bad timeline.. Great vid bro!!!
Nobody noticed the goat 🐐 6:00 ??? That has a meaning guys.
Great reaction man. I’m so happy yet sad to see the show come to an end. It’s so great, but I’d rather it end on top than to keep going as people say “is that still on?”
It'll be great to have a completed timeline of the breaking bad universe, I can't wait
Easily the best season premiere of the show. They are usually lacking but this was amazing
FINALLY BRANDON, LOVE U
I have not seen your new background, Brandon. Looks great. Nice addition to the channel!
Re: the proof - I don't think it's Nacho, which everyone seems to assume, I think Lalo needs to prove to the cartel that Gus is moving against them. I think it's got something to do with the lab, personally. Just killing the highest earner in the cartel without Don Eladio's permission because he simply believes - without hard proof - that Nacho was working for him would be a foolish and catastrophic move for the Salamancas. I think it clicked for Lalo when he mentioned following all of Gus' men for so long and finding nothing. He no doubt then remembered Werner Ziegler giving him all of the construction details over the phone back in season 4.
Welcome back !
Now you are watching this show before me
How the tables have turned 😂
I've been looking forward to this season so much, but I've missed all the reactions to this show as well
Never clicked on a video so fast
Isnt it obvious, the taxidriver will save gene. Five minits from any location
Kim is basically Walter White, Nacho is basically Jesse
Well, not really. Kim hasn't poisoned a child nor commit mass murder, Nacho isn't reeling from PTSD, yet.
@@davidci ok lol. I'm just saying Kim is the one going from pure to corrupt, and Nacho is the only morally good person among soulless killers, and is punished for it.
