    I hope you enjoy our take on this case. It has been referred to as "The Sleepwalker" case but strangely enough, Randy never once mentions sleepwalking as the cause of his crime. In fact, it was his mother, who he was very close with who claimed sleepwalking. I would love to hear your thoughts on this case, was it sleepwalking or could Randy not stand the thought of losing her?

    We have a case against him, as a result discovered he is doing this to about 30 women, none of us knew, most of us he was comforting, as well.

This dude is the poster child for 'nice guys' that turn out to be total creeps that are possessive over women that aren't interested in them for good reason. I'd bet the victim knew there was something off about him, but was friendly to him because she was a decent human being and felt sorry for him. I'd bet good money that they weren't actually friends, and he just deluded himself into believing they were far closer than they actually were, and that he had told her prior to the murder that he was in love with her and she made it clear she wasn't interested (again, for obviously good reasons), and he's just one of those crazy creeps that thinks that they're entitled to women returning their feelings just because they're a "nice guy" in their head (when in reality, they're the worst kind of people).

The best explanation I could find for this sort of crime is that the killer is so emotionally attached to the victim or is so desperatly lonely they don't want to see them go so they literally don't let them go. Dahmer killing and eating his victims is usually used as an extreme example of that state of mind.

    I had a male friend once who I only ever wanted a friendship with. He asked me out and I ensured him that I only wanted to be friends. When I began a new relationship, he would call consistently, become extremely protective and even insist that we should all go on a double date (to see what was going on in my relationship). I told him my concerns and gave him one more chance at friendship, though the red flags continued. My anxiety went through the roof for weeks.
    It was incredibly difficult to do so, but I told him that we could no longer be friends, as he broke my trust. Despite losing a friend, the fact that I felt immense unease and concern about my safety when I was around him - this was enough justification. I felt a wave of relief.

It's also cruel on the woman's part because she knows what he's after and is basically playing with his heart.

I made it outside on two occasions & he’d somehow talk me into going back inside. I have no idea why but I became a complete bitch & would full on scream abuse at him for no reason, our r/ship was really good. It eventually stopped, the only thing we can think is i was under more stress than usual at work & it was coming out during my sleep, strangely I’d always wake feeling really relieved, relaxed & good until I’d look at my partner & realised I’d had another episode. It was scary as esp knowing I had no control over it & how awful I treated my partner during them. I know I didn’t stab anyone but I do believe u can do things in your sleep & act things out exactly how they’d happen while awake & u not only have no control u don’t know who or why you’re directing so much anger towards a loved one. Thank you for covering this case. I’m asking people please do not watch the Hulu doc on this. The family of the victim was adamantly against it, so much information was twisted or incorrect to make Randy look like a victim of his own mind. True crime is a controversial topic, but when the family is specifically asking that a company does not do something, but they do it anyway, that’s too much for me. One example is in the doc they made it sound like the sister of the victim wanted to testify for him, when in fact she was subpoenaed and didn’t have a choice, they edited out the parts of her testimony that weren’t supportive of him. Kendal Rae interviewed the family, give her your time, not that doc.
    Sleepwalkers don’t make all the steps he did, it’s embarrassing that film makers got fooled by this.
    Edit: I wanted to add this doesn’t take away at all from Red Tree Crimes video. If anything Kendall Rae’s video is a good supplement to this to fill in some of the gaps of the story. I see no issue with interrogations being public. My problem is when a production company jumps on the innocent people jailed bandwagon (which we do have too many of), and tries to make a murderer a victim, and hurts the family in the process. There are so many other legit cases they should’ve spent their time on. I only hope the family has not received harassment as I’m sure because of that doc there’s people that believe he was sleepwalking.

    I recently blocked someone I’ve known for years because he would randomly get angry and pick fights over stuff like me not wanting to call or something. He said he liked me but then would spam my phone a million times and my Xbox and would say stuff that I don’t care to repeat. I never got bad vibes from him before he started doing that and seeing this is scary. Just thinking you could do that to someone you’re into romantically or just anyone at all is terrifying. I’m glad I don’t live near him anymore.

    Randy’s controlling compulsion to enmesh himself into Brooke’s life eerily reminds me of the Lauren Giddings case. Much like here, Stephen McDaniel couldn’t bear the thought of losing his predatory grasp on Lauren’s life, so he killed her the night before she was to move away to be with her long distance boyfriend. Randy was the roommate and Stephen was her next door neighbor (or close enough to be able to see inside her apartment), both Randy and Stephen didn’t want to lose the out-of-touch-stalker’s ideal setup. Chock full of ✨deluded, incel, if-I-can’t-have-you-no-one-can✨ energy. RIP Lauren Giddings. RIP Brooke Preston.

      Must agree with you there. This guy is sniveling and McDaniel seriously creeped me out. But both equal in their stalking - “psycholust” actions. I wish she hadn’t gone back to the house from her friend’s. I’ve just started watching but what a crybaby. Poor girl’s family has all of my sympathy.

    Heman, now 28, was sentenced to life behind bars. Last month, Herman filed a motion to try to get his conviction vacated. He wants a new trial and argues that his defense was wrong to claim that sleepwalking was a mental illness

      This pathetic alcoholic and murderer wants a new trial? Just so he can get out, go get wasted, and kill more girls who don't reciprocate his lust. Yeah.. don't think so. He's probably just tired of being the victim, thanks to his prison "buddies." He's where he belongs.

    As a sleepwalker myself, I find it hard to believe his story. I usually just go to sleep on my bed and wake up on the couch. Never once have I engaged in highly physical activities. But this is just based on my own experience.

    • @chriss8825
      @chriss8825 2 года назад +7

      I doubt his sleepwalking story. That being said different people act differently when sleepwalking. As a young kid I was camping with one of my friends and he apparently got up out of the tent and started running (my parents and his were still up around the fire, so they were able to catch him).
      Edit: I have never sleepwalked walked, tho as someone who remembers my dreams I definitely understand how perception of 'reality' can be hilariously broken.
