Great video! I have the SBDB023 (SNR027 ouside of Japan) and it's a beauty. I plan to also use it for diving - just remember that each 30 degrees on the compass bezel = 5 minutes. My only complaint is the LX line should ship with a bracelet and a strap as standard.... It was easy enough to get a replacement Seiko 22mm silicone strap, but it will be very difficult (if not impossible) to find a black titanium bracelet to match the gorgeous Prospex case. Aside from that niggle, it is my favorite watch - the date window even has the GS date font. It is basically a Ninja Grand Seiko!
I love stealth watches, but black on black hides the brilliance of the Spring Drive sweep. They should have a red tip on the seconds hand with GMT in red.
First time trying to review 2 at the same time. It was difficult for the brain. Probably wont do this much. And sorry about the lighting in intro was still figuring back when this was filmed. These things are beautiful STEALTH WEALTH BEASTS! I miss them dearly! -Falling
I've searched the internet and google to find theses three models...NOTHING Been to Seiko's website searching for those model numbers finds NOTHING!!! I can NOT find these models at ALL!!! Don't know what is going on here but are these real!???
@@EscapementWatch Well...can you provide me with a link to wherever they are listed or for sale. Google has NO record of their existence with those model numbers. Seiko has no record of their existence with those model numbers...What help can you provide me, besides: "yes, they are real..." What good does that do?!?!!?
@@EscapementWatch My apologies, I did look there but I thought they were Grad Seiko due to the Sprin Drive movement. But t hat still doesn't explain why google could not find them anywhere!!! Thanks for pointing me in the right direction 👍
Nice review, bud. These are sweet. I've got the Skyline GMT and I love it - wears so well on my 71/4" wrist. I'm not a fan of 'big' watches - usually I like to keep things at 40mm and under (Seiko excepted), but these wear so nicely. I'm quite tempted by the LX diver, but can't get over the bizarre elongated crown. Also, the stealth design of all these reduces the impact of the Prospex logo. Which let's face it, doesn't really belong on a $5/6k watch. No sub brands needed at Omega and Rolex... and these are that good.
The Seiko Luxe website shows the SNR035 having a silver/chrome seconds hand. But, in this video it looks black. I'm going to need to track this one down to take a look in person. For $5,500 legibility is an absolute must.
very good reviews, i own the limited edition batman and the one with compass, let me tell you compared to my omega seamaster (older 2009 model) and tudor black bay s&g other than thickness wear very well and lighter due to titanium, quality is well worth it and punches above price and compares with swiss models priced 3 times higher. Seiko is just awesome and those pieces go under the radar.
I'm curious how well that combination of black coating and zaratsu holds up to scratches. Zaratsu polishing already gets scratched easily, I would be hesitant about getting PVD that can't be repolished.
Black or classic? The black is very tempting but I would be concerned about the inevitable scuff being quite conspicuous. So I just started saving for the classic diver.
I would love for you to look at the normal versions of these, particularly the SNR025. I’m not very fond of these black out watches but the normal non-DLCs look incredible with the dash of colour.
Will you be reviewing the SNR029 (Diver version of the LX)? I just got it a week ago and would love to hear your opinions. I think Seiko is killing it with the LX series.
Spring Drive Smoothness...A delight to watch. Hard to chose a favourite. Pros - Titanium/Spring Drive Sweep and accuracy/Premium Strap/Nice Dials/Value vs Rolex....Cons - No signed crown or display caseback for $5k?? Not really suitable for under 7" wrist. Have to agree FT..stunning as they are, they look a bit too large on your 6.5". Great review nonetheless👌
Do they have malaligment issues? It's really excellent watches.. but if im going to empty my bank account id rather go swiss or grand seiko.. yeah sadly the logo name does makes a difference.
no issues on high end seiikos that are made in Grand Seiko studio. If the name matters then for sure these not are for you. these are discreet buy for you type of watch.
Just purchased the Snr035, the rotor sounds quite loud, did you experience this in your review, is this normal for a spring drive. It's louder than my £500 - £800 Seikos. I wasn't expecting that for £2475.
wish the 035 was 200m! ... not sure how/why it ends up getting shortchanged on the depth rating, for the more expensive model. I like these more than the 031.. except the waterproof rating Great video, really helpful. Thanks!
DLC? I would like these much more without the fuel gauge on the dial. Further, while I undestand the Seiko polishing tradition, they also might even look cooler if the cases and all outer surfaces were blasted with a bit of texture to match the dial. PURE UTILITY!
Oh yes thats correct. there are more specific links in the description. the top link is just to help support the channel. if you buy anything off amazon using the top link I get a few cents. I do not have an amazon store yet.
Here's the documentation for 9RA5 and 9RA2 movements (most advanced Spring Drive calibers for now): www.grand-seiko.com/instructions/html/GS_9RA5_en/AGFISYxwidandf "The seconds hand will stop moving when the crown is pulled out to the second click. Do not stop the movement of the seconds hand for longer than 30 minutes. If the stoppage of the seconds hand movement exceeds 30 minutes, push the crown back in, and wait for approximately 30 seconds after the seconds hand restarts moving, and then set the time." So, every IC in Spring Drive has capacitors which are hold the charge for 30 minutes in average. When the crown is pulled out for more than 30 minutes - capacitors are discharged completely and thus it will produce the same effect (even with fully winded main spring) as watch cold start with winding from completely unwounded state, i.e. seconds hand will move fast with acceleration, while capacitors will charging and enough electricity will be generated to start an IC, and IC with electromagnetic breaker will take action. There's no any video yet that demonstrates that effect. Please, make such video demonstration, it'll be really interesting for all Spring Drive fans!
Aiden, my Ananta Spring Drive Moonphase performed at +0.3 seconds in two months and 14 days. That's right. Not three but ZERO POINT THREE second! If my test continued for 3 whole months it would have dropped to ±0 seconds.
Have the diver LX has more wrist time than my Omega Seamaster especially in summer. Winter time the Omega or other Seiko. Because LX is thick watch to wear with winter clothing Great video
I still like the sbdb011 better than these three because it's a gmt that retains the diving bezel. Most people have no use for a third timezone or a compass. The difference in depth rating is just a money savings scheme for Seiko, doesn't reflect well on a LX/luxury line.
thats a great one! I believe the water resistance should be the same. It could be just the level of depth they tested them to officially to get the ISO rating only the divers version. They all have the same case and probably the same gaskets...so they should all do the same WR.
Who cares what anyone else thinks...leave that to the Rolex wearers. Master of G’s are no slouches either being usually made with sapphire, DLC and carbon fibre as well as amazing toughness and technology built in. They are some of the best value to quality ratio around. I think the Seiko diver version of these would be my preference because I prefer that look a bit more and leather straps just won’t last where I live. The extra water resistance is good in humid, wet tropics.
Awesome watches. From my experience with the 6-3mm rugged sports crocodile strap on my Jade dragon sbgc207, l know these two straps which will wear great. Yes, the spring drive is a marvel of watch making. I own 5. The latest Lamborghini Sian has gone hybrid and their most efficient and most powerful to date. Moving with time.
never scratched one yet! Its hard for soft wood to scratch strong Steel especially treated steel like seikos. Unless there was dirty and sand on my table. but its cleaned daily smooth surface.
You know, this channel is absolutely killing it. Video production, script, everything. 10/10 from me
Wow! thanks for the kind words!
Does the black colorcoating wears off over time? Do you get scratches on the black case?

thank you very much for this video. thanks to this - I bought the 027
Absolutely stunning! Exciting new products from Seiko!
It really is!
Spring drive is the biggest advancement in watchmaking since the 1700s
Bigger than quartz? It is great though, I’m angling for a spring drive at the moment

Honestly it has been a long time so I do not remember. But a titanium case does have different acoustics inside. It is possibly amplifying the sound.

Can you swim with the 035 with 10 bar rating?
yes
But not dive ok. They have to send alligator strap separate with extra cost? Could be a hassle
I may be crazy, but it always bothers me how the power reserve indicator goes up as the reserve goes down. These are some heavy hitters though.
Good observation.its counter intuitive.
