  • Seiko's are getting pretty expensive all across the range. This is the case with how the brand wants to elevate it's offerings upmarket. A high end Prospex LX would set you back nearly Grand Seiko level's of coin. Is it worth it? Let's find out.
    Special thanks to bezelhouse for loaning in the LX GMT from his personal collection. The watch has been sold!

    A really enjoyable video 👍 Again hard to pick out of these two amazing top-notch Seiko watches. But - after watching this - I’d go for the LX. I think it’s better value for money and a much more versatile watch.

    Another great review! I think I would go for the Grand Seiko used personally. That 44GS case is extra special

    I just want to thank you for the comparison video. That particular Grand Seiko wasn't in the running for me (the lack of lume was a deal breaker), but the SNR025 was. Your video helped me make my decision, and I could not be happier with my purchase.

    That SBGA375 will be my next target!! Such as elegant time piece as for land master it’s good but it’s huge and hate gmt hand on a watch! Great comparison my friend

    I owned an SBGA413 for about a year and ended up selling it because it was too dressy. I do miss the Spring Drive movement and will most likely buy an LX since they are sporty and fits my lifestyle.

    I see what you were going for here, but the models chosen kind of make it an apples and oranges scenario beyond the comparison of the movement finishing. Might be more accurate to compare something like the prospex lx to a grand seiko diver or gmt, or perhaps the upper presage line to something like this SBGA375 instead.
    Just my two cents, enjoyed the videography and your opinions as always, keep it up! 👍 p.s. more puppy cameos. pls.

      Nicolas I always appreciate your comments and feedback. I had the same thoughts as you but was limited to not wanting to do a solo video reviewing the LX GMT as it’s been done by better and bigger RUclips channels. So for the sake of doing something different I want to cover off comparing these two watches as considerations for movement and value for money. I’d love to get my hands on the watches you’ve mentioned and have something cooked up for this subject soon! Thanks for the constructive feedback my friend. Yes! Ollie will be a recurring cameo going forward 😂

      @@perpetuality "it’s been done by better and bigger RUclips channels." They might be bigger, but the jury is still out on whether they're better. Just keep doing you and what you want to cover, I wouldn't worry too much about "the other guys".

    Finally it's good to see an American Watch RUclipsr with lean vascular hands and not having trouble breathing.
    Almost all American RUclipsrs are Obese and the Wrist-Shot is always cringy.
    Just like you I am lean and Vascular with a 6 and a Half wrist and 42mm + sized watches can look hedious and bulky but the LX by virtue of its light weight Titanium paired with a one pass NATO am confident I can pull it off better than MM300.
    THANKS FOR THE VIDEO BRO

    Such a good video. I’m struggling between this SNR025 in the video and the GS SBGM245 (the dark blue automatic GMT). I really want a Spring Drive watch and I need a GMT in my collection so the LX would cover both those bases. The GS will undoubtedly be the classier and better finished watch, but can I handle the relatively ‘boring’ movement in there?

    • @perpetuality
      @perpetuality  2 года назад +1

      My pick would be the SBGM245 in the secondary market. The obvious is the more wearable and smaller case than the SNR025 which is light but is noticeable on the wrist. As great as spring drive is you really dont get to marvel at the movement on the SNR025 or the SBGM245 so that is a bit of a wash. Aside from the mesmerizing sweep I think you won't be disappointed with the GS. After a few weeks with my SBGA375 I got used to the smooth sweep and what got me more invested was seeing the geartrain and movement glide along behind the exhibition caseback. Just my two cents! The alternative is to score the SNR025 for a really good deal used- which I've seen them go for a lot less than retail- around 25% less. Thank you for watching!

      @@perpetuality That’s a good shout, thanks for the advice. I think you’re right, if I got the SNR025 I think I might spend a long time wondering ‘what if?’ and end up flipping it for a GS anyway. I appreciate your time.

    Just to clarify something,all watches in Seiko line that generaly have price above 1.5k have Zaratsu polishing,spb,sla,sjj and all Astron line,slg,all Sharp edge series also have zaratsu,Lx line,even some sar series like sarx,sbb,sbg,sbga,sbbn etc..

    1. How about the calendar ? Do those watches show correct date each month / or they show every month as 31 days?
    2. When watches was presented one to each other they didn't show the same time - in 21'st century who would like to buy a watch that is not radio controlled or can't synchronise with satellite ( GPS) ?

    I have 2 MM300 neither were bought new but fantastic watches and far better build than my BB58, in my humble opinion of course. Depends what you want. A high end Seiko diver is more fit for purpose than a similarly prices SBGX.

    • @perpetuality
      @perpetuality  2 года назад +1

      You make a great point for high end seiko built for purpose. But where would that leave watches like the SBGW231 titanium diver? I think I’d still prefer a MM300 for everyday wear and pocket the change

    • @stevebennett7783
      @stevebennett7783 2 года назад

      @@perpetuality Totally agree. Both of my MM300 have been in the water on various dives but honestly my regular dive watch is the save the ocean samurai. Its a nice piece but if I snag it on something and its lost then I'm not a couple of thousand out of pocket.

    • @perpetuality

      To be fair, it’s a true divers watch with a spring drive. And, it’s titanium, the lightness should make it more than wearable for a 6.5+ inch wrist.

    9R is regulated more accurate than the 5R from the factory. By the Grand Seiko. It will be more versatile from sport to dress and allow for more varied straps.

    The Seiko Prospex LX is a beautiful watch. However, if you wear a dress shirt to work, it's a very chunky watch and it's probably more of a weekend watch.
