Yeah, man. Like THAT is voice acting. Unlike Rex's voice actor. God Christ it is terrible. His voice actor is horrible at acting when it comes to Rex needing to yell or scream in anger. Like his voice actor is terrible at displaying anger and sadness such as crying, but he's great at displaying despair such as screaming in sadness.
The sad part about this is... The cutscene before this level... Flayn and Seteth calls you kin... And my heart just died when I killed Flayn. Cuz I lowkey did not know they could be saved...
If you kill Seteth first the dialogue is this: (You probably know already) Seteth: I'm sorry, Flayn.. I couldn't protect you.... Flayn: FATHER! Father, why?! WHY?!
This situation is Seteth's deepest, darkest nightmare, it's actually really sad. Not being able to protect the people he loves, being close enough to maybe help but ultimately having to watch them die, when he could have done something about it. He lost his wife all those years ago, and the mark it left on him is an unfathomable urge to never let that history repeat. It's why he's always so concerned and protective about not just Flayn, but everyone he considers dear. Rhea, Byleth, Catherine, even some of the students in their supports.
I think Edelgard really needs to go to a mental hospital. I’m not saying because she is insane, I think she is emotionally unstable from her childhood trauma and needs that 24/7 care and treatment those places provide. I’ve seen some myself and they aren’t asylums full of crazy lunatics and former criminals. Rhea deserves to pay at least time for her sins in detention. The reason being, even if you get the main chunk of the story by playing the other three routes, there's a LOT to be accomplished by taking Edelgard's route. I see people keep saying this and it breaks my heart because the point of Edelgard's route is teaching her that she can win the war without always resorting to killing her enemies. You can, as Byleth, spare Claude, Seteth, and Flayn. And it gives you different cutscenes if you choose to do so.
Okay just to check, if Byleth is the one to attack Flayn,Claude, or Seteth, can He/She spare them? I need to know so I don’t have guilt on my conscience when I do Crimson Flower route.
@@Rosa-he6xb Edelgard and Byleth can defeat Claude to spare him. Byleth can defeat either Flayn or Seteth to guarantee both are spared, Byleth only has to defeat one before either are defeated and then the other will retreat no matter who defeats them.
Honestly, when I found out this was their reaction, i had to use multiple divine pulses in order to get Byleth to defeat them and let them go. Made everything so much harder but it was worth it. seteth's reaction was painful to hear because there wasn't that much moments where he showed that much emotion.
I felt so awful for Seteth, just from that delivery. This game did such a great job with its characters. With the exception of Thales and co., no one is really evil; they fight for different things, for different reasons, and after the timeskip, things have deteriorated so badly that it's come to war. Friends become former friends, and often have to fight each other to the death. And the game really goes out of its way to make sure you do NOT feel good about killing any of them. The echoing screams, the lingering camera shots, the defeated dialogue, and the mourning by the survivors makes you feel like a complete asshole for what you've just done.
In the cutscene before this battle, Seteth specifically tells Flayn not to go the front lines. So obviously he didn’t send her there, she just disobeyed him.

This shit right here? Oof. Just. OOF.
This absolutely broke me when I killed Flayn. It broke me again when I realized that I could have spared them.
omg........ Seteth reaction for seeing someone he cared so much dying infront of him really broke my heart 😥
And this is why I can’t bring myself to side with Edelgard
I see people keep saying this and it breaks my heart because the point of Edelgard's route is teaching her that she can win the war without always resorting to killing her enemies. You can, as Byleth, spare Claude, Seteth, and Flayn. And it gives you different cutscenes if you choose to do so.
This is why I always choose to not side with her or choose blue lions
Okay just to check, if Byleth is the one to attack Flayn,Claude, or Seteth, can He/She spare them? I need to know so I don’t have guilt on my conscience when I do Crimson Flower route.
@@Rosa-he6xb Edelgard and Byleth can defeat Claude to spare him. Byleth can defeat either Flayn or Seteth to guarantee both are spared, Byleth only has to defeat one before either are defeated and then the other will retreat no matter who defeats them.
Super me3 Bros. Okay thank you, I’ll make sure to remember in the future whenever I do the crimson flower route.
Imagine after you kill Seteth he pulls out the bible, the cross and a 50CAL SNIPER RIFLE TO CLEANSE YOUR SINS
Honestly, when I found out this was their reaction, i had to use multiple divine pulses in order to get Byleth to defeat them and let them go. Made everything so much harder but it was worth it.
seteth's reaction was painful to hear because there wasn't that much moments where he showed that much emotion.
Losing daughter infront of your eyes, is beyond painful...
*Defeats Flayn*
“Ok she didn’t fall over and die, that means she’s safe right? …right??”
*”Seteth screaming*
“…Oh no.”
Good job Mark. That was so well done that it almost made me cry
Not one to get all sentimental, but after playing the game and loving the characters, this hits hard
How the heck can a man who played a purple alien with literally no character depth put *this* much raw emotion into his voice acting? This *hurt.*
Wait what?
@@TheKpa11 Seteth's VA also played that purple alien geezer in Dreamworks' Home.
BRUH IM CRYING IN THE CLUB RN
Mark whitten nailed it with this. The heartbreak in seteth’s voice… wow.
Except that one Blue Lion girl's father. Screw him.
@@christopherwall2121 You must mean Gilbert.
@@christopherwall2121 His name is Gilbert
@@PeruvianPotato Yeah, Asshole Dad
One cool detail is how your characters don't comment when they kill a named character, or if they get a level from it. Really helps it sink in.
“I’ll just take Flayn out. She’ll come back right?”
(Gets this)
At that moment I knew...I fucked up
*sees one dislike*
Seteth disliked this.
You are very right 😭
Oh, so we're causing pain today? Okay
God damn... whoever played Seteth did a fucking masterful voiceover
That's it....
I'm never gonna join Edelgard's army.
AGREED
dude you can saper then you don have to kill them this you tuber gole ws to kill them so joining her don't mna they have to die dude
Seteth.
I’m going to send my only daughter to the front lines in an extremely risky sneak attack why I stay safely near the back surrounded by guards
In the cutscene before this battle, Seteth specifically tells Flayn not to go the front lines. So obviously he didn’t send her there, she just disobeyed him.
@@7renabena he still took her on a battle field
and THIS is why recruiting Seteth and Flayn is a MUST. Absolutely heartbreaking.
One of the reasons I can’t bring myself to play through the Crimson Flower Route.
Crap I forgot how good Mark is at acting I wasn't ready for this-
The best piece of voice acting in the entire game.
Kinda wish that Seteth gets a rage buff if Flayn dies first.
Like how Lu Bu will charge towards you in rage if you kill Diao Chan in Dynasty Warriors
it's for this exact reason I'll never side with Edelgard except for completion.
You are aware that you can spare them if you use Byleth right?
That’s okay. I didn’t feel like being happy today anyway. 😭
The pain in his voice-
I would 100% use Divine Pulse or reseting the map just to save her
i’m never playing the crimson flower route i love seteth and flayn too much i could never
This really hurt me. His voice was heartbreaking
I feel like I deserve to burn in hell just for watching this happen wtf I’m depressed
FYI for anyone wondering flayn and seteth can be spared. You have to fight them as byleth, unlocks a cutscene and all, don't do this to yourself folks
