@TheGridironYT not tough to admit. LT was that great. He rewrote how we keep defensive stats, LT made the left tackle the most important OL position. He ended emphasis on the fullback, too long to go into here.
Andre Tippett was every bit as good as Lawrence Taylor. As one sports journalist put it, "Andre Tippett was putting up Lawrence Taylor numbers, even though he had much less talent surrounding him compared to LT." Before you say you disagree with me, I ask that you actually take the time to compare LT's and Tippett's numbers. You will see that they are very, very similar. Shockingly similar. They both came into the NFL at about the same time. They both had about the same length careers, and their numbers are very similar. There are just two big differences: 1) Tippett got hurt, and he was out for nearly an entire season 2) LT played on much better Giants teams, and he was surrounded by much better defensive talent compared to Tippett. LT got all of the attention because he played in New York, and the Giants were contenders during that time. The Patriots were not a good team back then. Had Tippett played for the Giants, you better believe his numbers would have been even better than LTs.
As a Tar-Heels fan he's the greatest LB in NFL's History Lawrence Taylor was relentless a unstoppable force the 1st Round 2nd overall pick out of University of North Carolina by the New York Giants a 3X NFL's Defensive player of the year 2X Super Bowl Champion and 1986 NFL's MVP no debate but in college he wear #98 in the pros #56 with the Giants
"Sir" Lawrence Taylor, the undisputed GOAT @ LB. LT could line up anywhere and didn't need anyone to occupy blockers he would run past or over who was in front of him to get to the QB. If it was a run he could go sideline to sideline to get the runner, even in the midst of his off field issues he dominated there was no escaping him. Go Hawks
As a Giants fan, we enjoyed seeing the defense on the field more than the offense. We didn't watch the opposing QB or the ball, we watched #56. If he lined up somewhere other than his usual rt outside LB/DE position, someone would always yell, "Where's Taylor". It was weird watching the Giants D after he retired. It was no fun. I really had to get back into the habit of watching the ball again.
In this video I liked watching LT play because he could dominate the line as a linebacker but the Grant are rebuilding like many NFL TEAMS are doing. From coach down and I watch the NFL draft.a lot of QBS have come out.and to see from what college they played for
As a Cowboy fan, I got no problem saying that he has to be the best player on any side of the ball , in NFL history. I remember watching the games. Till that time in the 80's till now, I haven't seen anyone come close to him and YES that includes Lewis of the Ravens , no son, not close.
I'm a Giants fan, Taylor at one × was good, gave everything on the field, Carl Banks made him who he was, Banks was all in. A 1st class act, Taylor, we all know the garbage he likes
Quite the opposite. Taylor drew all the attention that made Banks much more effective. It was a great D but Banks was no LT. Then again nobody else was either
LT came in and made his chops as a player before Banks you know. The guy was already a two time defensive player of the year before the 1984 draft where the Giants chose Banks. Even Banks would have disagreed with you. Same goes for the low IQ voters who gave you thumb ups. Don't call yourself a Giants fan with this kind of take.
Yeah the Giants missed the playoffs 17 years in a row until Taylor came along and Taylor was taken 2nd overall in the draft and was ACC player of the year in college and somehow (according to you) Banks made Taylor.. Sober Up and Check into Rehab pal ..
@@TheGridironYT Pay has changed for all positions. They played different for him, not others. He was double teamed with a tackle and a guard and a RB would chip block him. Team's had to run to his side, hoping the almost triple team would somehow control him. They couldn't run away from him to the other side because he would catch running backs from behind before they reached the line of scrimmage. How many defenders could do that before or since?
I'm glad I saw him play his whole career. He changed the game, period. As. Lions fan, I saw him take over the second half of a game against us including a 90 plus yard pick six, and no one came near to tackling him. He was supposed to be out with a bad knee. GOAT.
So he swept floors and carried groceries for hours at their house in the middle class neighborhood where he did what he wanted it and never asked permission. That’s a good story
LT was the greatest defensive player in the history of the NFL. Today the NFL is 100 percent fixed/scripted. The the NFL player slash athletes are acting like the WWE is the same thing trust me
I was a huge Tim Raines (Expos) fan and i remember when Raines was caught using COKE and Raines later admitted he played a lot of games high on it and once stated he played better while on it. You just got to know LT was high on COKE in some of those games. I'm not disparaging LT i'm just saying . Both players are in their respective Hall of Fames regardless
Say this as a Redskins fan. Lawrence Taylor was the best NFL player ever.
Tough to admit. Appreciate u

@11kful rendering the position of FB obsolete. And also making the LT position the most important position on the OL.

So do I Brother...So do I...LT WAS THE GREATEST ON THE PLANET...ANY PLANET

There's an argument to be made for the best FOOTBALL PLAYER ever as well. Much harder to be MVP as a defensive player and dominate that long.
It's crazy that North Carolina had back to back to icons roll thru there w him n then jordan.not just greats but legends

Absolutely
the greatest defensive player of my time...and I live in Philly and watched Reggie, who was pretty dam good, but second place to Lawrence Taylor
Fair
Imagine if Young hadn't messed up and chose White instead of Zimmerman who doesn't even want to be there...
LT and White on the same defense.
Me too and you right
I Still Can't Believe That Lawrence Taylor Functioned So Properly When Under The Influence Of Koka-E-Nah
