      Damn right. Hell LT was known to have game checks in the bottom of his locker under dirty cleats all crumpled up. Those guys gave their all and then some just for the love of the game of football. I do think they deserve big money but I also think money has replaced that passion and love of the game. Those guys back then had several that would have played for even less than they got. I recall my uncle who was drafted by the cowboys and won national championships in college said he would give his left leg or testicle just to play one more NFL game. The summer after getting drafted his dad was drinking while replacing the roof on their house and knocked him off the ladder and broke his back a week before rookies reported to camp. There are still some guys that play because they love the game but I also think the crazy amount of money going to highschool kids now will erode the passion for the game and make money the reason they play. Guys like Brady who are willing to take a lot less money to build a team and win is something I think is rare and will become even moreso.

    @John-vm2sq Месяц назад +15

    The way LT described his "process" in that he knows everyones assignment, except his own, because he has to instinctually feel it out and let his instincts drive his decisions.
    The amount of freedom (and being able to back that up) reminds me of how other greats across multiple sports did their business too. One clear example is Messi and the creation of the False 9 "position." Messi seems "out of the game" at times because he's reading the field. His instincts drove him around the field, and he wasnt simply just studying X's and O's on a whiteboard to be lethal. The pockets he finds, the opportunities he creates, and the results he is known for is INSTINCTUALLY driven, which is what LT is saying about himself as well.
    This is what it means to truly ascend beyond the game. That your talent and ability are so far advanced compared to everyone else, that becoming just an X or an O in a system was to downgrade your output. Only a few players every existed across all the major sports that were given the freedom to do what they wanted. Honestly, its players like LT, Messi, Larry Bird, and even someone like Peyton Manning, who were given the liberty (instilled by mountains of trust from their teammates and doubly by their coaches) to let their instinct guide the gameplan.

    • @S0ulinth3machin3
      @S0ulinth3machin3 Месяц назад +1

      Messi spends the first 10 minutes walking around because he's studying the opponent's strategy. Then he looks for weak spots and when he figures out what to do to exploit them, then he starts playing. He's a savant.

    • @KevinSmith-sp6xf
      @KevinSmith-sp6xf 16 дней назад +1

      LOLLL. Messi didnt invent the false 9 nor the best at it. Messi is a manufactured goat by FIFA.
      Check out the world cup Messi won when they played Holland in playoffs. Messi haf a yellow card already when he did a handball which shoulda been automatic red. Nope for him its a no call. He scores later in the game. Not to mention all the penalties Argentina was gifted every game. After being gifted penalties Argentina is excellent at making time and dirtying the game w intelligence/street smarts. Not a hater either. Just dont like fake goats

I laughed to myself and thought, "Wow, that guy must really love LT to have something like that." 2 seconds later a big black Escalade pulls up and out comes Lawrence Taylor, still looking big as hell. If you ever listen to what BB had to say about LT, you can understand LT comments. A reporter asked BB a ? About Parsons being LT like. Bill shut him down and said come back in five years and then ask the ?

      @georgieboy_htown4eva4eva yeah....and it's irritated the sh|π outta me since I noticed it starting to happen in like the mid 80's probably.
      I am 60 years old, have watched and followed football very closely since I was 5 years old in 1969. I remember being quite offended, and angry even, when players from 'my' team started milling around after the game(s) to exchange handshakes and/or hugs......WTF???
      They were supposed to have wanted to beat the other guys brains in - not smile and laugh ( ESPECIALLY if they had just lost......😡😡😡) and I wanted them to give a damn about losing.
      Or at least ACT like they did.
