I do think they deserve big money but I also think money has replaced that passion and love of the game. Those guys back then had several that would have played for even less than they got. I recall my uncle who was drafted by the cowboys and won national championships in college said he would give his left leg or testicle just to play one more NFL game. The summer after getting drafted his dad was drinking while replacing the roof on their house and knocked him off the ladder and broke his back a week before rookies reported to camp. There are still some guys that play because they love the game but I also think the crazy amount of money going to highschool kids now will erode the passion for the game and make money the reason they play. Guys like Brady who are willing to take a lot less money to build a team and win is something I think is rare and will become even moreso.
