  • After billions of years, the Asteromorphs have finally found a planet with the last remaining original humanoids. It seems as though they slipped by Qu detection somehow. Although the Asteromorphs cannot communicate through normal means, their technological prowess seems to bridge the language gap. What fate awaits these un-evolved humans at the hands of their descendants...?

    • @alphadraconis9898
      @alphadraconis9898 3 года назад +11

      Me too, but there are a few things that can be inferred. Earth was probably a made a garden world by the Qu since it had a natural biosphere, rather than the transplanted terraformed worlds of the star people. Later Earth could have become a Killer folk colony at some point, since it’s mentioned that their homeworld was one of the earliest colony worlds, and that they subsequently colonised a number of nearby worlds on their own. Only to be attacked by the Gravital. Maybe this was the mentioned ‘rare example’ of direct intervention as the machines recognised the significance of the world.

      In All Tomorrows the Earth is devoid of intelligence, 560 million years after the present, there are thus no humans left on Earth and they all live across the galaxy. By this point the Earth's magnetic field would have weakened, and the Sun would have been brighter, so life on Earth itself would be quite different than it is today, trying to adapt to a world that is slowly dying as ages pass.

    After 540 million years, wouldn't baseline Humans on a far off planet evolve into something radically different and have become a spacefaring civilization even if the Qu never found them?
    Perhaps, the Human colony ship went into a temporal rift that sent them into the far future and they then set up a colony which became the Human civilization that the Asteromorphs discovered.

    • @Kuhmuhnistische_Partei
      @Kuhmuhnistische_Partei Год назад +1

      I mean, yeah. 550 million years ago we have the common ancestor of all animals, a worm called Ikaria wariootia. Tetrapods evolved around 400 million years ago. So that should demonstrate how radically humans could have evolved in that time. They basically had time to become small, trash-eating rats and evolve back to sentient ape-like beings and they could have done it like 3-5 times in that time span (100 million years ago lived the last common ancestor of humans and rodents, so it's really not that unthinkable). The book always says that those species are technically still "human" and that's correct because a species never stops being part of all the clades it's ancestors belonged to. Which means for example that technically all tetrapods can still be considered a subgroup of Sarcopterygii which is a clade of fish we evolved from. So "human" in this sense doesn't really mean the species homo sapiens sapiens, it would be a very broad taxon all those post-human species belonged to. Like after the qu left (they ruled over 40 million years and a few thousand years don't really matter anyway, so let's just say 40 million years) humanity would be as abstract as our clade of "Catarrhini" which is somewhere between our order Primates and our family Hominidae. At the time of the rediscovery of Earth "human" would be a term so broad as our term "animal kingdom".

    These lost humans still looks very close with the original form but genetically modified or naturally evolved to look more and more aesthetically pleasing. The least attractive ones would be at a level of the most attractive celebrity of today and the average ones would be comparable to the beauty of fictional elves and the most beautiful are on par or surpasses the modern depictions of goddesses of beauty. In addition these humans probably lost the appendix and pinky toes.

    According to what I just watched and am reading in comments, I have a theory that made it so a single human spaceship was so far out in space, nearly leaving the solar system, that it went unseen by the Qu all while still being pulled by the Sun's gravitational field. So, no life forms wereto be found as the humans were probably hibernating, as in cryogenic sleep. Frozen. No life forms to be detected and so they survived after the Qu's death, they were undetectable, fucking stealth mode
    And now they have been found by the godlike Asteromorphs, the last true direct human descendants meeting their ancestors
