Hangar 18 is a masterpiece in thrash metal. Freaking brilliant. Rust in Peace is one of the greatest Metal albums of all time. You should definitely check out Megadeth’s new song “Nightstalkers”… it’s awesome. Great reaction Lilly Jane! 👍🏻
11 guitar solos on this track, if I'm not mistaken. Wonder if that's a record 🤔 Rust In Peace is an album I still jam in its' entirety to this day...one of my top tier thrash metal albums, for sure 🤘 Edit: Lucretia (named after the ghost that supposedly haunted Dave Mustaine's residence back in the day 👻) is a sweet groovy track from Rust In Peace that I think you'll enjoy. The whole record is a banger, though, honestly...a definitive 10/10, in my not-so-humble opinion 🖤 Keep rockin' and stay heavy! Wishing everyone peace, love, and good happiness stuff from the mountains of northeastern Alabama 🥰 Edit 2: MegaDeth has a song titled Mary Jane from the album So Far...So Good...So What? It's about a witch. I also would like to suggest MegaDeth's She Wolf from their Rude Awakening live dvd. It'll blow your friggin' mind🤘
Noice. "Ashes In Your Mouth" is, in my opinion, one of Megadeth's greatest songs in regards to composition, technicality, lyrics, and riffage. Would love it if you tackled that one, as it seems that song seems to go under the radar. It's the last song on Countdown To Extinction.
A Tout Le Monde, Peace Sells, She-Wolf, In My Darkest Hour, Angry Again, Addicted To Chaos, Rust In Peace...Polaris, Skin O' My Teeth, Trust, Five Magics, Countdown To Extinction. You should check these out. Every single track is masterpiece.
She Wolf - Live Rude Awakening will blow your mind! Dave was on fire in that show and that version of She Wolf is one the absolute best live performances you’ll ever see!
@@BillCipher1995 this tour with The Hu and five finger death punch, ended. But, I'm pretty sure they picked up a new tour. I haven't checked the dates yet, but I hope to see them again.
I totally agree that the solos really sound like someone having all these secrets and want to be a whistleblower trying to escape the facility while being chased. The lyrics for this song is fantastic, especially my favorite, "the military intelligence, two words combined that can't make sense".
This album is more than a classic. It's one of the best - EVER. In the Top 3 Thrash Metal for me. Dave knows how to riff, how to write, how to compose fast thrash metal and even now WOW he is beyond Legend mode.
I read a top 100 metal guitarists and they listed him as #1. Many would argue this and be insulted but their reasoning is that he is not the best at any of these things, but he's the only one that is amazing at writing riffs, lyrics, playing the complex riffs while singing, and is an amazing shredder. As a side note they added that he alone has kept the band going through everything and is an incredible businessman. All of that in one guitar player. Only if Jimmy Page could sing he might have been number one, hahahaha
"She Wolf" from their live, "Rude Awakening" concert, is one of the most epic bangers, with one of the best lead-battles, duets in live guitar history. It'll make your whole body melt.
One thing I love about these reaction videos to metal songs is the look of surprise at the the tempo changes. You see it happen several times in this one. She's getting into it and all of a sudden the song becomes completely different.
The Ghostbusters discussion of a giant Twinkie is the reason Twinkies are sought-after in 'Zombieland'. "Ya ever think the reason we've been so busy lately is cuz the Dead HAVE been rising from the grave?". -Winston to Ray
You have to picture a symphony conductor waving his wand to all of Megadeth’s songs/compositions. Which is Dave, himself, duh, WOW mind blow, right?!?””
This album ('Rust in peace' in 1990) was the beginning of Megadeth's reign w/ their most popular line up: Dave Mustaine (vocals & guitar), David Ellefson (bass), Marty Friedman (guitar) & (the late) Nick Menza (drums)... The next (5th) album 'Countdown to Extinction' (1992) was scaled back in speed, but brilliant overall... hit #2 on the US charts and sold 2 million copies in the US... 6th album 'Youthanasia' (1994) was an attempt to streamline their sound, but went to #4 on the US charts and sold platinum (1 million copies). After a break, this line-up delivered 'Cryptic writings' (1997) which was brilliant album w/ both speed metal and radio singles... but it was the last w/ Nick Menza, who was fired in 1998... Marty Friedman left in late 1999 after the 'Risk' album, which was a rather failed attempt at incorporating electronics into Megadeth's sound. Dave did record a sequel to 'Hangar 18' in 2001 on the album 'The world needs a hero'... the song 'Return to Hangar'... w/ Jimmy DeGrasso (drums) and Al Pitrelli (guitar)... Megadeth split in 2002 after Dave suffered a wrist injury, but returned in 2004 w/ the comeback Megadeth album 'The system has failed' and launched a new line-up.
The very first line in the song, "We;come to our fortress tall" , I believe could be a play on words reference to James Forrestal. He is rumored to have been in charge of the aliens and alien artifacts after the "Roswell Incident". He was the Secretay of Defence at the time. He is rumored to have the opinion that knowledge of said aliens should have been made public. He was a very energetic person and a lover of life. He was passionate about the racial integration of the military and was opposed to the division of "Palastine" into Jewish and Arab states. He was mysterously comitted for psychiatric treatmement and was later found to have fallen to his death from a 16 story window of a Naval hospital in Bethesda, Maryland. There was no suicide note, only a bit of a poem by Sophocles. I believe he is represented by one of those men on that Album cover.
I am also from Ohio, about 30 min. SE of Columbus. I've actually been on the tour of Wright Pat. Base. Unfortunately, no UFOs or aliens on display. I was fortunate enough to see Megadeth on tour a few years back where they played the entire Rust in Peace album along with a few other classics. It was amazing and Mustaine was absolutely on fire with his riffing that night. A few others you might check out are Good Mourning/
I LOVE how you worked out a story based on the instrumentals. Your interpretation is what I'm going with from now on as being the official one for this song, and it very well might be. Thank you for your brilliant reaction.
Prime megadeth was this album “rust in peace” (1990) and “countdown to extinction” (1992). Every song on each album is just unreal. If you’re going to dip your toes into Countdown to extinction, listen to Ashes In your mouth (my fav megadeth song), High Speed Dirt, Architecture of aggression and skin o my teeth. Works of art. Love watching your genuine excitement because it reminds me of when I discovered them. They are legends!!!
@Lilly Jane Reacts, you have to remember that in the late 80's the end of "the cold war" was nowhere in sight and the nightmare of nuclear war was still a very real possibility. The idea of "mutual assured destruction" was cold comfort to say the least. Even The word 'megadeath' means one million human deaths, usually caused by a nuclear holocaust.
Nice reaction video.......... I absolutely love seeing a young soul like you reacting to the songs i was thrashing to when i was your age ( about thirty something years ago) keep it up .....
I actually like both bands, but I'm firmly in Team Megadeth :) You mentioned that it was like the instruments were playing tennis in your head, and that's why I like their songs more. There are always several layers to their music. Also, they get bonus points for gradually speeding up the song in the middle change from a bouncy, almost dancey feel, to a full blown metal meltdown.
You mentioned about going back and forth with Megadeth and Metallica. Maybe you should listen to one of their influencers from 1978... Diamondhead and start off with Am I Evil
@Lilly Jane Your explanation for what the this song is about is 100% correct. It is about a hangar in Wright Patterson AFB which is rumored to have the alien occupants from the UFO crash at Roswell, New Mexico. Your also correct about Area 51 being in Nevada. What you might not know is that according to an interview Dave Mustaine did mention that their drummer at the time, Nick Menza (god rest his soul) knew a lot about the subject of UFOs. You seem to have quite a bit of knowledge on this subject and I don't know if your aware of it: *Wright Patterson AFB is also the birthplace for Project Bluebook* which existed from 1952-1969. I'm also a UFO enthusiast and have been studying this and other paranormal subjects for almost 40 years.
I'm from Dayton and my uncle was in the Air Force back in the day. According to him sone material from the Roswell crash site was sent to Wright Patterson I believe it was called Wright Field in those days. Also a fun fact: Dave's from Centerville Ohio. Love the channel btw! 🖤
By far Megadeth’s best lineup. The entire album is a masterpiece of thrash rhythm and solos. Megadeth isn’t my favorite band but this is absolutely my favorite metal album.
Happy belated Birthday. If you haven’t done Peace Sells But Who’s Buying or Sweating Bullets yet, I’d love to see you react to those. Love you and your channel
Here are a few you should check out. 1. Looking Down the Cross 2. My Last Words 3. In My Darkest Hour 4. Lucretia 5. Ashes in Your Mouth 6. Go To Hell 7. Promises 8. Something That I’m Not 9. Washington is Next! 10. 44 Minutes 11. Black Swan 12. Dance in the Rain 13. Poisonous Shadows 14. Mission to Mars
I also live in Ohio, but closer to Wight Pat than you. When I was a kid, a large chunk of my family paid a visit to the Air Force Museum there. On a bus tour of some of the hangars, someone asked about Hanger 18. At the time, I had never heard about the Hangar 18 legends and conspiracy theories. This was before the song, and before I'd ever heard of Megadeth. But there's always that one person....
Next song should be Wake Up Dead. Earlier Megadeth and completely different from this. But you should also definitely check out Metallica, “The Call Of Ktulu,” because it has the same Dave chord progression ideas as Hangar 18.
The music has such an Iron Maiden vibe, wit Megadeath's version of Eddie on the album art. I didn't listen to Megadeath much in the 80's and since hearing more of them I wish I had.
Washington is Next is a great one and kinda describes alot of world issues that continues to this day, I highly suggest it. Dave's solos in that one are incredible to say the least
As far as some good old CLASSIC Megadeth-go back and check out In My Darkest Hour on So Far, So good.....So What! album. That is truly one of my favorites!
Solos, yes. But as far as the actual song goes, I think you like Holy Wars the best so far. If I'm right, then count it down: 5. Lucretia: A masterpiece in it's own right! Less metal than the other's, more of a hard rock groove. Intricate high end main riff but works beautifully! 4. 5 Magics : One of the the greatest intros of all time. Lots of solos, time change, and ends in kick ass thrash. 3. Rust in Peace: A driving metal groove. Not quite Pantera, but awesome! 2. Dawn Patrol: Mainly bass guitar (guitars are almost insignificant) and an example how Dave SPEAKS metal like no other... An original! 1. Take no Prisoners: My favourite thrash intro of all time. If the 2nd verse doesn't make you move, then you're half dead! And the perfect ending.
I watch a lot of reaction videos and to see people get blown away by Megadeth is the coolest thing. Behind Black Sabbath they are the best Metal band ever.
Lily Jane. You're a sweetheart. I've been through similar things as you. I only want to say. I'm so proud of you. You're an amazing person. God bless you and yours.
It also took me years to connect 'Ghostbusters' to 'Big Trouble in Little China' using my Abstract Inversion tactics but the '3 Storms' were the key as opposites of..the o.g. Ghostbusters. East Coast...West Coast!
I mentioned this song before. Dave and Marty solo battle extraordinaire. Such a great album. But don't sleep on so far, so good , so what. Hook in mouth I know ull love and in my darkest hour is a must hear. Trust me , and you can thank me later.
I am not a big thrash metal fan but "Rust in Peace" is one of my desert island records. I could not live without it. The entire record is an absolute masterpiece.
Easily one of their greatest tunes, if not the greatest that Megadeth has ever made. Which is saying a lot with tunes like Trust, Symphony of Destruction, Almost Honest and Public Enemy No. 1 in their repertoire.
This song is actually about the 'Ghostbusters' storage containment system. The entire album surrounds the first two films. 'Tornado of Souls' deals with the spiritual explosion when the system is shut down. 'Lucretia', Dana's possession. The 3 o.g. 'busters' are covered in 'The Five Magics'...yeah.
Those solos at the end were a combination of Marty's beautiful melodic solos and Dave's speed thrash solos. Pure perfection!
Nick Menza and David Ellefson made for a mighty rhythm section, especially on this album. Dave and Marty's solos are the icing on the cake.
No dave, u'll never nver heaed the 3
@royalex6495 what are u blabing about
People never give drummers the respect they deserve so, ty sir for seeing what a power house Nick was
that album got me into metal and changed my life

The best part of Hangar 18 is the back and forth solos between Dave and Marty...instantly recognisable of who's playing which part.
Loving your Megadeth hype!... Try "In my darkest hour"... Greetings from Argentina.
Dave’s best lyrics ever in that song imo
So for the last couple of minutes Dave Mustaine and Marty Friedman are taking turns with the guitar solos, kind of a back and forth "duel" if you will
and i must say it was lit asf

A few others you might check out are Good Mourning/ Black Friday, Wake Up Dead or Burnt Ice.
I mentioned this song before. Dave and Marty solo battle extraordinaire. Such a great album. But don't sleep on so far, so good , so what. Hook in mouth I know ull love and in my darkest hour is a must hear. Trust me , and you can thank me later.
That Raga-Rock breakdown was all Marty!!
Very good reaction 🤘
The next one should be
INTO THE LUNGS OF HELL / SET THE WORLD ON FIRE 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I am not a big thrash metal fan but "Rust in Peace" is one of my desert island records. I could not live without it. The entire record is an absolute masterpiece.
Greatest metal album ever period!
Awesome reaction.... they made a movie titled Hanger 18..
No they're not. Dave was an atheist at the time lmao....what the fuck are you on?
@@murk4552 sure.
I'm more ok than u and anyone else deluded into believing everything u read or hear.
Go back to sleep
Yeah, "military intelligence, two words combined that can't make sense" is definitely my favorite lyrical content on this amazing album.
