"The Four Horsemen" was originally written by Dave Mustaine in his former band Panic entitled "The Mechanix". The song was one of Metallica's staples during their clubbing days, albeit with no melodic interlude and different lyrics. The original lyrics were roughly about a sexual encounter at a gas station. James Hetfield has gone on to say the lyrics were "silly".
During March of 1983, Lars and James confronted Mustaine about adding a more melodic section. Mustaine claims the middle interlude was inspired by Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Sweet Home Alabama", though it wouldn't be added until after his removal from the band. When the band fired Dave, James took it upon himself to rewrite the lyrics into something more dark. The result is the song we know today as "The Four Horsemen". Referring the Biblical texts about Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

This song was originally called The Mechanix and it was written by Dave Mustaine. When Dave got kicked out of the band, James re-wrote the lyrics of The Mechanix, added a middle section, and slowed down the main riff and The Four Horsemen was born. The original version of the song is on Megadeth's first album, Killing is my Business...and Business is Good. Definitely worth checking out to see the differences. The first guitar solo is the only one in the album that was written by Kirk Hammett, every other guitar solo is just Kirk playing Dave's solos

I always love seeing people react to this for the first time, especially when the gallop comes in. I first heard this when I was... Well, I can't really remember. I was extremely young. Practically a baby. Had a lot of rock, and metal fans in my family, so it was unavoidable. I heard it off and in throughout my early childhood, but then I probably didn't hear it for about 10 years, when I finally heard it at age 17, on a classic rock station, and I remember my eyes just bulging out of my head, and locking on my stereo, getting goosebumps, and just feeling like I was somewhere else. Then I grinned, turned it all the way up, and started banging my head as if I fully intended to separate it from my body. It really has an infectious energy to it, and it feels like an old friend to me. I feel the same about the rest of the album, and the following album, as well as the Savatage album Hall of the Mountain King. I don't know who, but someone was blasting this stuff when I was very little, and it just stuck. I went through a lot of music phases growing up, but the first was also the last, before I finally kinda just embraced all sides of myself. But, again, it started and ended with metal, and that's my go-to.

You can notice it for the mid section riff that Mustaine used for "Mechanix" from the Killing Is My Business... and Business Is Good! 1985 Megadeth album. There are two Demo cassettes from 1982 called 'The Power Metal Demo' and 'No Life 'Til Leather' with early recordings of this song with Mustaine's original guitar solo, also with Ron McGovney on bass. This has been one of my favorite songs, but I've been a fan since the beginning when Dave Mustang was still around and he needs some credit for writing the music for this. James changed the lyrics to the first version once they kicked Dave out of the band. But Dave did his version and if you want to hear it its called Mechanix. Its on the Megadeth album, Killing Is My Business... and Business Is Good!

The song I like least on Kill em all is Seek and Destroy, it's a good song it just got overplayed. I just pretty much got burned out on it, The Four Horsemen I never got burned out on. My favorite Metallica song since I first heard it in 83

Kill "Em All has always been my favourite album!
Actually Dave Mustaine of Megadeth was in Metallica at the time and co-wrote The Four Horsemen and on the first Megadeth album 'Killing Is My Business' there is a different and faster version of this song called 'Mechanix' you should defiantly check it out you'll notice it's the same music as soon as you hear it!

My personal favorite song off Kill Em All was Whiplash. I didn't start listening to Metallica until Ride the Lightning, but the 1st Metallica album that I bought was Masters of Puppets. I got to see them on that tour just before Cliff died.

I’m gonna be honest with you Lilly I don’t have a least favorite song on this album. I mean this is in my opinion a all killer no filler album. There’s honestly not one bad song on this record in my opinion I mean all the songs are good. I mean I’m just a sucker for this album basically because I grew up in Rochester and Rochester New York is where they recorded Kill Em All. Not only that but I used to listen to this record nonstop when I was a junior in high school. I was balls deep into Metallica that’s all I listen to every day. And I remember I got Kill Em All on CD for my birthday and I was so damn happy I also had a iPod which I ended up downloading the whole album into my iPod by using the CD because that was the only way to do it back then. It’s just I have a lot of memories with this album and now I own two copies of it on vinyl one is a regular newer release and then I end up buying a Walmart Limited edition red colored vinyl exclusive which I still have sealed. Now I’m on a journey to owning an original copy of Kill Em All which is gonna be kind of tough because they are very expensive original copies are worth like hundreds of dollars. Hands-down my favorite song on this record is no remorse do that one next very underrated and very raw and brutal and heavy.

James was only 19 and Kirk was 20 when they recorded this. The first solo on this song is very smooth and melodic. Yes, it's all minor pentatonic licks, but he really nailed it. He recorded the solo twice, then listened to both of them at the same time to see which one stood out. They ended up leaving both of them in the song, which is why sometimes it sounds like 2 guitars playing lead at once. I think that was a good choice.

Shootashellz “death of 150” he’s also got a story on chicago88 like king Von. He died a horrible death by being shot in the head 10 times execution style. He deserves to be heard
