Damn man . I still get chills hearing this song even after so many years . I still feel those feelings I had in my youth first hearing this song . This song has followed me around my whole life and meaning different things to me at different times . And thar chorus riff makes me wanna go nuts when it hits !!!!!!
I love this song! I cannot wait for you to get to Dyers Eve. I do have a suggestion for the last two songs on this record. Play them as a double feature. Try to find a recording with both songs played back to back. All the feels in just two songs.
"Viking and Oopma Loompa" is the best description of those intro vox I've ever heard. It's so apt it makes me weep. Overstays it's welcome but I enjoy hearing it after so long regardless.
The intro where it goes "wee ah oh! Wee ah oh, oh, oh!" Is from the wizard of Oz, the little troops. The reason they use it is because in the movie it conveyed fear to the characters, therefore would convey fear to the listener
Me and my ex girlfriend used to mock the opening by chanting " All we own , we owe for ! " back when we were broke kids lol ! But no joke , I love this song and is one of the great ones that dont get talked about from this record very much . Having gone through terrible addiction , depression and anxiety later in life , this song means more to me now than when it came out . As I just loved it for the music then .
I think the chanting is taken from the Original 1930's Wizard of Oz movie.. It's what the castle Guards chant when they are marching in.. 😆 ruclips.net/video/TLAW4lWC86U/видео.html Love this Metallica track.. one of my all-time favourites! The Pumping Guitar Riffs from 7:20 on just hit hard!!
Anyone who hasn’t listened to the rhythm guitars isolated on this song should check them out. James’ rhythm guitar under the first solo break is insane.
Metallica has too many songs and great albums. This album is very psychological and the riffs are so catchy. This album is one of mt personal favorites. The Outlaw Torn is my personal favorite, Spit out the bone also.
Just letting you know that the chanting at the beginning of the song was the Soldier's March in the 1939 Movie with Julie Garland - The Wizard of Oz. Also, once the main riff kicks in, the weird Cymbal effect you hear is a Cymbal shwell recorded and played backwards.
the only thing is that lack of bass. several youtubers fixed that online, doing their own very impressive remasters. I believe one of them is And Justice For Jason.
I think there was a running joke at the time that James looks like cowardly lion from the movie... It's pretty much a meme that they put it in the song... The thing is it fukking sounds really cool there....😅
This album was my very first metal album. Load was my first Metallica album, but they were an alternative rock back at that point, but when I first listened to Justice, it blew 9 year old me's mind.
I love this album because it's so proggy, they switch it up all the time without losing the groove. Also some of the best Kirk solos are on this album, wish he would do some of those crazy solos these days.
I never thought about it in terms of prog but you're so right. Side note, I remember reading this album was pretty hard on Kirk in terms of composing the solos. I can imagine why. That said, I think he did a damned good job.
I remember buying this the day it came out at Peaches in West Palm after school. Pulling in to the parking lot hearing the album blasting from cars pulling out and the store full of metal heads is a great memory! This album was an event for us. Metallica were becoming huge. If I remember correctly, the lyrics were inspired by One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.
Such a good album !!! And so much of it if not all of it holds up today .❤ Glad you are enjoying it so much it's another milestone album with being the first album with Jason and going through the death of cliff
justice gotta be my fav metallica album also back when i was still learning english i always sang "fighting death with a bit of beer" instead of "fighting the fear of fear" :D
The opening is from The Wizard of Oz (March of the Winkies song). Some people claim the lyrics are something like "Oh we owe, the Old One. All we own, we owe her." or something similar.
AJFA also my fav album. Totally agree wth u on the feelings that this album and the arrangements make you live. This album got smth special, so heavy, so aggressive and great on composition. Blackened is my fav off the album. Never can get enough of the riffs in it.
I've been a MetallicA fan since 1985. I've seen them live TEN times (Yeah, I'm a bit old, lol). Last time was in Germany (Köln) in 2017. Picking a "favorite" MetallicA song is quite difficult... depends on your mood, life situation, etc. But I would say "For Whom the Bell Tolls," "Sanitarium," "Seek and Destroy," "Saint Anger," and "Orion" have to be on the top of the list. And "Fade to Black," for sure. Please keep reacting to MetallicA! You are doing a great job. :)
Dont know how much truth there is to this, but someone once told me that a year or so after the Burton incident, a band by the name of the Frayed Ends tried to recruit James to be their lead. It puts a completely different spin on the lyrics
The chant at the beginning is from "The Wizard of Oz" movie. The wicked witch of the West's Minkie guards chanted it as they patrolled her castle. I have heard that what they are chanting is "Oh we love the old God" but others say that's not true.
Spotify marked this as my most played song of 2022 :D the end of that solo is one of the most "metal stink face-ish" and headbanging moment I have ever heard
That intro is from The wizard of oz, The "oh wee oh" sound was the chant the witches guards used. James was basically being funny cause the guitar riff sounded like the witches guards chanting.
When this album first dropped I was kinda meh. It has grown on me So Hard over the years and I can't even understand my initial aversion. This album is one Bad Ass offering from the Boys in Black!! I appreciate it more and more every time I listen!😊
This is definitely my favorite album. There’s a b side cover track called the prince originally by diamond head. That’s the band that influenced metallica. Check that song out as part of your and justice for all experience.
My mom had dementia right before she psssed of heart attack. Was at a Walmart and she thought we were at Costco. Glad she didn’t suffer long with it. My aunt is still alive with it 9 yrs and counting
Artists will kill for one classic all time album. These guys have five….in a row. And everyone expects them to maintain that, it’s impossible. Post black album stuff is still really good, they just set the bar high not just for them but everyone who followed which is why they’re the GOATS
To live is to die and Dyers Eve next! These last three are BY FAR the best on this record, and possibly the best closers of any Metallica album!!! So looking forward to Dyers Eve though.... wooooo boy.... that's a blistering song, musically and lyrically!
This song is about a person who is becoming increasingly paranoid and therefore on the brink of losing his mind. The sound that you hear starting at the 0:57 mark is James Hetfield himself. The arrangement of this song along with Kirk's badass guitar solo definitely captures the feeling of becoming more and more paranoid until the person's mind just snaps.
great job! Justice is 100% the greatest metal album of all time...period. No matter the point of view this is the bar that all metal is judged by. And...they did it without a bass.
I really enjoy your Metallica reactions! Your perspective is always really interesting! I learned drums with this album, and I think it’s a great album!
I love how much The Frayed Ends of Sanity surprises you and the fact that you are listening to and commenting on And Justice 4 All and the older Metallica is freaking awesome
Love this song. One of their best. Can't wait for you to get to To Live is To Die and Dyers Eve. Cliff will live so long as there are Metallica fans but you take this album from start to end Jason is a bass god.
Can't wait to see you react to "Dyer's Eve" the last song on the album. The anger and aggression James unleashes can be felt to the soul. In my opinion the fastest and most introspective look into James' upbringing or any musician you will ever hear. I love it.
One of Kirk's best solos ever, and tons of wicked riffs throughout the whole tune. Unerrated gem. It's so hard to choose just one favorite. For the longest time it was Creeping Death...a scary, Old Testament story put to speedmetal?...blew me away. But Hit The Lights, Whiplash ("Now's the time to let it rip, to let it fucking loose!"), and Phantom Lord off of Kill 'em All are basically tied with it now for me. No Remorse off that 1st album is killer too, a kind of harbinger of things to come on later albums...plus that amazing tempo change and set of final verses near the end ("The furious fighting, swords are like lightning, It all becomes frightening, you know death is near!")...chilling, even as it whips up the warrior blood in you.
MetallicA And Justice For All... album is my favorite , but my favorite song will always be One . Has special place in heart . I can't never get tiered of one
True story.... Back in 1996 my wife comes home from shopping and tells me the stock speakers in our Honda were blown out. I asked her how this happened and her response was "I was listening to Frayed Ends of Sanity and when the song was over the speakers were crackling." She won't admit it but I believe it was on purpose so we could upgrade our sound system!
It's awesome you've discovered Metallica. Now you know why they're legends, and icons of metal. One of the great bands of all-time. Blackened is my favorite. Justice is my favorite album! 🤘

i go back and forth about which Metallica song is my fave but I'm going to have to say One. I discovered Metallica when Justice came out and was immediately blown away by One first and the rest of the album second and everything else from the first 3 albums 3rd 🤘
Great song from the last Metallica album in which I liked the majority of the songs. I know you also like rap. This song may be a bit old for you but in the late 80s LL Cool J's I'm that type of guy had the same chorus that Frayed Ends of Sanity has. Its 'Oh We Love the Old One' and both artists borrowed it from Wizard Of Oz.
Frayed ends of sanity is the most underrated metallica song
Idk man this song fucking slaps top 5 for sure
This whole album is just perfect.
07:23 love that riff. One of the best Metallica riffs ever written
Fuck yes this song. Riffs for days.
I think most of their instrumental songs are underated
The rythm guitar for the solo is absolutely genius, sadly most people don´t notice it
I have the official guitar transcript and definitely see the intricacies of the rhythm guitar parts.
Exactly. Glad others are starting to notice
There is a YT video of it. Bloody magestic.
It's kind of like the Battery riff a little too
Hetfield was just going off behind that solo. It's epic.
Damn man . I still get chills hearing this song even after so many years . I still feel those feelings I had in my youth first hearing this song . This song has followed me around my whole life and meaning different things to me at different times .
And thar chorus riff makes me wanna go nuts when it hits !!!!!!
Same bro but I can say that for most of their albums😂
the OH YEE OH YE OH UM at the start is from THE WIZARD OF OZ when the knights of the wicked witch are marching
well, the more you know!
Nah, it definitely were Oompa Loompa's LOL
Not that it’s a big deal but I always thought it was “Wee” not “Yee”. I guess I’m just hearing it wrong?
It’s “Oh wee oh, yo ho.” It’s from the Flying Monkeys of the Wicked Witch of the West from The Wizard of Oz.
Its from her palace guards not the flying monkeys.
I love this song! I cannot wait for you to get to Dyers Eve. I do have a suggestion for the last two songs on this record. Play them as a double feature. Try to find a recording with both songs played back to back. All the feels in just two songs.
dyers eve hits so much harder right after To Live is to Die. not that its not heavy as fuck on its own
The later songs on Justice are so underrated, along with blackened. One etc. are great, but this, shortest straw, drool!
dyers eve came on when i was driving home from my grandma's funeral, i'll never forget that.
@@HellBrYngersorry about your family but that would be awesome.
What’s cool about this song is when he’s singing you can hear another voice singing with him like it’s the voices he hears
"Viking and Oopma Loompa" is the best description of those intro vox I've ever heard. It's so apt it makes me weep. Overstays it's welcome but I enjoy hearing it after so long regardless.
It’s an ode to the wizard of oz...
^ this. The flying monkeys in Oz
@@jsalvatori It was the Wicked Witch's body guards' chant as they marched on their patrols.
@@dtny2la thanks. Been a lot of years since I've seen it
Perhaps my fav on the album also!
This takes me back to a better time in my life.
Great reaction!!! To Live is to Die is one of my favorites. It’s a tribute to Cliff Burton
The intro where it goes "wee ah oh! Wee ah oh, oh, oh!" Is from the wizard of Oz, the little troops. The reason they use it is because in the movie it conveyed fear to the characters, therefore would convey fear to the listener
My favorite metallica song of all time lml

This album is underrated. Appreciate it more and more as I get older.

the only thing is that lack of bass. several youtubers fixed that online, doing their own very impressive remasters. I believe one of them is And Justice For Jason.
Under rated.... The single most over used term on all of the internet... This album is in no way under rated.
Its not underrated at all

same so far!
@@lillyjanereacts as for the "can't live without"...mannnn...Creeping Death or Disposable Heros...at least today...lol

One of my favorites on AJFA album.
You beat me to it with the Wizard of Oz🤘
Monkey chant? I'm pretty sure it came from her palace guards.
That's it, I couldn't remember..
I was thinking it was from the actual LOTR novel for a second. Total brain fart lmao
