Please do more videos like this HardwareCanucks!!!
I work in the automation industry and we use a lot of omron switches and sensors, good to know my g910 uses the romer-g manufactured by OMRON
HC: Not that many components and kind of crazy to think 3 years went into designing this...
Me as an engineer: It only took them 3 years to design that with so few components!
Great job, really enjoyed this!
love this video love your amazing B-rolls you have done an amazing job and i hope you all get more opportunities on visiting more manufacture lines for other brands ❤
Great video guys. I really enjoyed this and hope you all do more videos like this.
This was an awesome video! Great to know how much effort some of these companies put behind their products to ensure a quality product.
Love this video!! please do more like this!!
Great production work.
Great video! This was super interesting to watch especially how they test the durability of the key. I've had the G910 and love the switches on it. Only recently have I had some problems with double input. Look forward to the low profile ones!
I have used the same Omron mouse switches since 2002. I have transplanted them from mouse to mouse because the new mouse's switches didn't feel right.
Oh my God I might die. No double clicks? You must have treated them like your babies.
@@Xotwod69 Their older switch rated at 20 million clicks and 50 millions ones that are actually Japanese made are more reliable and less prone to double clicks from what I have seen.
@Cybernethik if u re talking about omron mouse switches
i have the same problem UNTIL
i just found there're two different omron switch
omron japan and omron china
wow what a docu!!! Thumbs Up!!!
very cool!!!!
I like this type of video
2:33 this gives me hope
Pretty cool that Omron is on low-profile trend.
This is an awesome video
So cool!
What a great sound of Keyboard, ASMR.
this is a really cool video!
I have always been curious about low-profile switches and boards like the Cooler Master stuff. I am about to possibly build or partially build my own board now, but still a good linear low profile board sounds cool.
This is a great vid. Good job guys. I assume you had to arrange that tour ahead of time and didn't just walk in off the street? (never mind, Just read the description!)
Since 3 years of use
My keyboard switches are smoothen out satisfyingly
Great video, maybe you guys can make a series of "How Its Made" for other PC hardware?
Try visiting Sanwa next.
7:26 how its synced Kreygasm
hey that guy at 2:23 is still with Omron.. saw him on LTT's Omron video back in 2015 lol
Make a travel vid for this trip!!!
Man I love the feel of the Romer-G despite what keyboard enthusiasts say, I just hate that you can't use aftermarket caps with them because of the non MX stem
Honestly, after years of using MX Brown, Romer-G wasn't that much different feeling. It does have a longer travel distance according to specs, but imo it feels like a shorter more instantaneous actuation than MX Brown.
actually the reason why they hate it is not because of the feel. But because the keycaps' feet break easily. And the other reason is just like u said, can't put the $200 GMK keycaps on them. So, yeah
@@xxMastufaquxx have you tried Holy Panda?
@@adrestiaeagerton4069 I have not, I have only tried Cherry's and of course the RomerG. But yeah the keycaps do suck tho, although mine haven't broken at all but they're stupid difficult to remove compared to the stems. The paint has worn off on the caps tho, making me wish they were easy replacements (there are on eBay and Amazon but...some variety like Cherry caps would be cool too)
@@xxMastufaquxx if you like tactile feel you should try Holy Panda and Zealios
when I saw censored stuff, I knew for sure you were in Japan
Holy shit, I'm so fucking impressed from everything that's go behind a single switch
Hey HardwareCanucks can you guys make a video covering ram? Like all the timings, types, and overclocking. I think it would make a great video since not many people know about the specifics about ram, and instead, just pick the cheapest or prettiest one.
3:38 the concentric optical design is more or less a fresnel lens, kinda, basically.
Great video... Amazing that keyboards are as cheap as they are.
Love me some Romer-Gs! Now, I don't know about these compact switches being "low profile Romer-G", but they are a nice looking design none the less. Seem to have quite a bit of wiggle though, they don't look terrible but they don't look like the most stable keys ever.
Mike needs more camera time. he's a natural.
Love that key! Thats why i have a Orion extra here at home. If my keyboard broke?
Love my G pro keyboard OMRON aka romer G tactile switches super responsive!!! I wish the key caps were PBT though! I wish also the RGB leds last longer! My only minor gripe! But overall I’m loving my romer G switches is super super responsive!!!! I love it! Makes movement in so many FPS games so fluid and easy!
1:22 wasn't expecting to see zhuin here
The concentric optical design is known as a Fresnel lens (like a light house)
Its a really interesting video. Blew me away of how they are made
Very interesting, sadly the stabilizers dont do the switches justice
Cheery stabilizers oh, go home!
Dave Longden or zeal, and lets not forget the most important part, lube!
cherry switches dances
Omron B3KL is basically a butterfly switch that actually works
That’s the product quality we all like over other products
water cooling part 2!?
My G603 left-click Omron switch nearly dead, hard to have clicks now & it just bought from March of 2018
Are the low-profile switches narrow enough that they will fit keycaps with a more traditional shape and width, or will the switches fit only wide chiclet keys?
I've noticed that this is an issue with Cherry MXLP for instance: you can't have a low key that is not wider than standard.
from now on, I decided I will become Keyboard Engineer someday
I was in front of that building 4 weeks ago 😂
My G502 Protheus spectrum's middle click button wasn't built by Omron, so it's the weakest part of the mouse.
Welcome to Japan! Let me know if you need bar/izakaya recommendation in Tokyo :)
a working butterfly switch?
So can we buy these switches?
i loved my G810 when keys worked, after just 2 years i changed like 10 keys my self, and i have a problem with least used keys, instead changing them i gave up and bought new keyboard roccat120 maybe this keys last longer
Nice gimbal
most respectful people are in JAPAN
The keys seems quite wobbally form the video, hope to test them out soon.
its hard to try something new when im so used to buying cherry mx switches
does anyone know the video where eber said he used pinterest for cool wallpapers/pictures?? it was either a laptop review video or a phone review
Dude, you gotta practice your home row etiquette. Lol. Improve that GWAM my guy!
Robots will take over this facility during an uprising
Holy crap. When it broke down they checked whats wrong with it using an electron microscope? Dude, now thats how quality products are made. Quality to the end.
Does anyone know the song at 7:20? Thanks!
at 2:47 where your typing, what watch are you wearing?
Watch is from a company called Withings. There is a review on the channel
Apart from the laptop, does anyone know where this switch was built into?
It´s in the new G815 and G915 from Logitech (other Keyboards I don´t know). Did it test today because my G910 is giving up slowly and man that are gorgeous keyboards. I really liked them, but it´s an investment. 200€ for the G815 and 250€ for the G915 are not cheap. I think I will buy the G915 for it´s fell and wireless function. I only wait for black friday if theres a deal. If not I buy it anyways.
Where's the water cooling video pt. 2??
Wait... isn’t that what apple’s “butterfly” is
Omron does medical equipment too. and for a daily user of those i can certify there's no better
So the switches of my G910 are made in Japan?!
BRING BACK B3G-S SWITCHES! NAO!!!
Too bad that neither Alps, Fujitsu, Futaba, Mitsumi, NEC nor SMK are still making key switches.
Omron and Topre seem to be the only Japanese companies left.
i dont have problem with the switch itself, i have problem with the mounting that will break the keycap into itself
The only thing i hate aboit romer g is . . . . . . keycaps option is very limited :( it hurts when i see other people's colorful keycaps
My Romer Gs only lasted 5 months before every key started chattering. Never getting Logitech again :/
are the workers using hp membrane keyboards?
realy this guy likes romer g
0:41 Made in Japan!

We know Omron for Razer and not for Logitech.

Love from alie
5:39 "3BKL" lmao
you were flown to japan? nice co2
Im here because of the tweet
6:17 MEMBRANE HP KEYBOARD even tho the make mechanical switches :)))))
Don't get high on your own supply
Romer-Gs are by far the worst switches in a high-priced keyboard. Mushy, wobbly, no feedback, and Logitech coupled them with those terribly angular keycaps on the G910, too.
Omron is
Germans and Japanese.. To me, only these two are the best in quality in everything..
"How Mechanical Keyboard Switches Are Made In Japan!" and then every piece of hardware shown has some big white letters on the side "Made in China"
I think you might have missed the point that the new switches we're talking about are indeed Made in Japan. The mouse switches are made in China with Japanese tooling & machines.
How much did they pay you for an advertisement vid?
woah 40 seconds ago?!
Romer-G is the most chattering, hence the least reliable switch along with Cherry MX... Not only that but their typing feel is also mushy and awful.
Whole world is shifting towards switch technologies that are immune to chattering such as Optical Switches or Hall Effect or capacitive switches.
That 50 million or 70 million keypress lifetime claim is clearly a lie. Significant amount of them begin developing chatter way too early. Heck even a brand new keyboard with Romer-G or Cherry MX switches might come with already chattering switches...
Maybe the only real true traditional design that is very resilient to chattering issue is the buckling spring switches found in old IBM Model M keyboards.
0:40 "Made in Japan", but it says China on that switch?
That part came from china. Everything is just assembled in japan
dmitri na past version is to young
It's scary that it has 666 likes
Really impressive engineering going on, but personally I can't help but feel that clicky low-profile switches are sort of meaningless. They sound hideous. Tinny with no bass impact. Would really prefer a more quiet linear approach so you don't notice the absolute trash sound you just... get when you don't have a proper keycap.
