Great video, was waiting for this one :)
educational with a good sense of humour..
Top review
My year old Ryobi blower gets uncomfortably hot at the top of my hand and it’s no fun to hold for more than half a minute or so. I think it’s a poor design but cheap and very handy around the shop and I use it a lot in short bursts. In that sense it has been really good value. However, I might buy the 40v Makita - do I need it? No, but after your reviews I really want it :) - damn it!
It’s because there is a tiny hole on the right back side of the handle which is the direct exhaust of the brushed motor, you can even see the sparks from there, its not designed or built the best but for $30 I can’t complain… I love mine and use it all the time, just waiting for that makita to come to the US
For the future tests: put train track on 2x4 at 30degree angle. Blow from bottom on train cart and see - which train will go higher/further :)
@Builds & Stuff - Great comparison - thank you! How do the two compare in noise level?
in the u.s. the ryobi is 30 dollars at home depot, the makita is at leat 180 for the 40 volt and well over 200 to order the 18 volt from overseas, so from the usa the ryobi is way less than a 1/3 of the price. great video btw!!! i have the sun joe 24 volt (70 dollars with 2 batteries and charger) one which is about 50% better than the ryobi and i have 2 ryobis for my office computer, one for my garage /miter saw cleanup and one for the pc in my bedroom. im getting that makita though!!!
I can't imagine the 18v will be much different in price from the 40 but I guess we have to wait until there are 18v dust blowers available in the states to compare but I find the Ryobi dust blower near me for $35 not that that changes much
When doing this comparison did the grip area start to get hot in the hand after blowing for awhile?
You can't argue with the Lego train track test.
They are going for a completely different price range, for the price they are both good.
Would be interested in a comparison between the lxt and an older sidewinder lxt blower.
Ryobi looks like a kids toy compared to the Makita!
TBF it is. I use Ryobi a lot for hobbies and Milwaukee/Makita for real projects.
@@DubsBrown What are real projects? I've built decks and renovated homes w/my Ryobi tools w/o issues.
where to buy the olive green DAS180 ! ?!
The ryobi poc inflator may have been discontinued, the page still exists on the Ryobi AU site, but the link to their only retailer in Australia is a dead page.
Wicked🤤
Perfect tool for when a compressor is not allowed to Clean the Rc’s
Thanks for your time man😎
All I want is to dust off my keyboard and PC. Which one should I pick?
Good stuff
Any chance you can measure noise levels from both blowers? I find Ryobi painfully loud. I've modified it with some foam to cancel away most of the buzzing, but the intake itself is extremely loud. I also don't find Ryobi strong enough to blow saw dust etc from the tools - rather use my Makita leaf blower.
The Ryobi is in the bin.
Well the Ryobi doesn't blow me away. But I've had it for some time and like it quite a bit. I like the grip even. Personally, I think it's comfortable to grip. I got it in a combo kit, sold the other tool off and got this for about $30

1:55 Thats it. I want an 18v carbon arc lamp!
I usually put about 100-120 psi in my air compressor to blow the dust and debris off my lawnmower when I’m done mowing. How do you think the Makita would compare to that?
The blowing force you get from 120 psi depends on the size of the nozzle, hose lengths, etc. so you can't directly compare it without more information. But the 40V Makita can blow with a force of up to 2.8 Newtons. It claims to have a max air velocity of 200 m/s (720 km/h or 450 mph) which seems a bit high, but I don't have any way of testing that. I guess for a rough comparison you could try to measure how fast you can get the air to come out of your system and see if it's any faster or slower than the quoted Makita speeds. I would guess that the compressed air is a better alternative if you need it anyway for other tools and you''re in a fixed location (as presumably your compressor isn't as portable as a small battery), while the Makita is a better alternative if you are working in different locations, or you want to be able to deflate as well as inflate.
The P738 will not work properly with PBP005 and PBP006 batteries.
Can't find the makita in green
Does Makita has electric scrubber and brush for washroom?
No
Powerstack 5ah supposedly has some features to make itself stop working through adapters. I recently watched another video and it was the same. Flex batteries worked just fine and 5ah powerstack turned off itself every time
I hate when manufacturers do that!
I bought the Ryobi and later found that Makita made this blower but 40v at the time. For the price the Ryobi does just fine but now that Makita has an 18v model, it looks like I’ll be adding a 6th battery platform to my collection…lol! Not being on a Makita platform which would you recommend the 18v or 40v?
for most needs 18v or 18*2 is sufficient and priced well. XGT is premium, its much pricier and it performs better than anything else and feels better, you know like porsche 911, its definetly best? but would you mind using it as a regular taxi? xgt is a supreme toy for grown up boy
@@joeskintone9752 well that answers my question…XGT it is! I identify as a MAN boy thank you very much….LOL!
Depends what tools you are interested in buying if you need a beam saw or 10"1/4 saw or miter saw or chainsaw the 40v would be the way to go
@@aaronoconnor606 I’m thinking so to mainly because of their 40v OPE selection. I’m debating on changing from my Ryobi 40v OPE to a brand that has a good metal deck mower. I love my Ryobi 40v mower but it just ain’t the same as a good old metal deck mower!
Someone is a makita fan boy.
Makita greased the tracks!
I've been considering buying the knock off 18v dust blower.. it's like $80AUD from china but my concern is it won't be anywhere near the performance of the real deal.. don't spose ya wanna buy one and test it out? :P
Someone tested it on reddit, it is a huge pos junk. Don't bother
From the comments I've seen you will be lucky if it lasts you a week.
@@BuildsStuff fair enough. i haven't been able to find any reviews on it. it's really hit and miss with the knock offs. some are great, some are worse than garbage
the knock off will probably burn out and start to blow fire xD
A guess after a year when 18v dust became available everywhere the price must be reduced.
@7:30 never a truer statement 🤣
The Ryobi is just supreme!

Sorry I couldn’t watch the whole video, had to run to the store to get a Makita one.
Just go for the most powerful one because that way you'll never be left wanting more out of your tool. Cheaper is attractive but if it does a half assed job when you really need it to get dust out of crevices it's just a piece of junk.
The major advantage of the Ryobi is that I was using it for years (with Makita batteries), while Makita did not exist.
So the Ryobi then? 😁
Never understood these kind of comparisons b/c it's not apples to apples, it's like comparing a Honda Civic to a C8 Vette. In general, you use things for specific tasks/jobs. I've been using that Ryobi blower for years and it's perfect for small jobs such as blowing off my workbench or circular/table saws after cutting wood. I don't even use it for blowing up air mattresses or large pool inflatables. This is also another reason why Ryobi is hated on so much b/c people take their non-brushless tools and compare them to contractor level tools.
He made the comparison because in his Makita AS001G 40V video people were saying "why would you ever buy this Makita blower if Ryobi has a cheaper 18V version 'JUST AS GOOD'?". So, he made an 18V vs 18V comparison, to answer that question
I'll never understand why some people think you can only compare identical items, that's not a comparison, it's a waste of time. If you are going to buy a new car do you only look at ones that are the same colour, cc rating, tyre size, weight, fuel type???
@@BuildsStuff b/c to most people, they'll view the other product as a useless piece of junk. And to answer your question, no, I don't test drive a Civic and a Vette and compare the two. You either didn't get my analogy or don't know the difference between the two cars since you came back at me asking if I look at the same color or size cars? Lol Nice response tho, your viewer had a better response. Great way to gain viewers!
Bought 2 Ryobi blowers, both died within 10 minutes... Returned, never again.
default al the way
The Lego is the only part that makes the Ryobi worth looking at.
Ryobi is dollar store blower
