    I do all my own work. When I bought my bike new I let them do the first service so they couldn't give me no hassle on my warranty. Harley's are super simple bikes. I done my bars, services, tires, cam swap, yeah everything. I also stopped buying extended warranties because when you start modding your bike you kill the warranty anyways.

    When someone decides to buy a HD bike, they should realize that there will be a trade off…..you are basically agreeing to high cost of ownership and that many of the bikes have intermittent quirky issues which might bit get fixed the first, second or even third time in for the same repair. I believe it’s the nature of the way the bikes are engineered; HD dealerships also feel that they have Carte Blanche with your bike /wallet connection. They own you….unless you know how to service your own bike. I have seen this too many times with friends who own HD bikes. They get raked and are expected to smile while it happens. NO THANKS!

    • @GoofyBastard
      @GoofyBastard  3 месяца назад +1

      I don’t believe that there should be a trade off. It’s bad enough that the cost of a HD is so high to begin with. The dealerships can charge a fair price without gouging and still make a decent profit. I guess part of it would be to find a reputable dealer and stick with them or learn how to do the work yourself. Which I believe is the direction I will be taking. Thanks for watching

    • @Nervedraz
      @Nervedraz 3 месяца назад +1

      @@GoofyBastard you are 100% correct, there shouldn’t have to be a trade off; however, there is, as most of us know, in the motorcycle community. HD abuses their customers in the ways I mentioned and probably even more. I heard from higher level motorcycle mechanics that many of the mechanics that HD employs are not even that experienced nor effective. This is why customers get their bikes back and the problem/s are still not solved…thus trip #2 back to service. For these reasons, I refuse to buy a HD bike. I prefer reliability and a reasonable cost of ownership over the nostalgia.

    I hear you brother! I've ridden Kawasaki's for years, easy bikes to work an and parts not expensive. I bought my used Road King this year and found myself a good local independent Harley mechanic, the dealership is ridiculous. And I've needed him, spent more this year on that bike than any bike in the past, but if I would've gone to the dealership...ouch, i probably would've bailed on the bike. I do love it though, so hopefully i got it dialled in now and will just need basic service. The jury is still out for me if they're actually worth it.
