  • I had a total hysterectomy laparoscopic (LAVH) with the Da Vinci Method on April 11th 2016. I had my uterus, both fallopian tubes, left ovary and cervix removed.
    I had this performed in hopes of easing my chronic pain condition PCS or Pelvic Congestion Syndrome.

    I had my hysterectomy 8 days ago... I just got back from Wal-Mart. My incision site hurts but I feel really good. I am short-winded right now. It hurts to cough but I feel really good. I walked to the mailbox the second day home. My hysterectomy was so much easier than my cystectomy 20 years ago. Ur videos have been very helpful! I have also lost 12 pounds since my surgery.

    Hi Blair. I love your channel. I had a total hysterectomy via laparoscopic surgery. Thank you so much for these videos. I haven't had a lot of pain, but I do have swelly belly, soreness, digestive issues, and extreme fatigue. I keep feeling like I should do more because I get these mini bursts of energy. But just taking a shower or sitting on the couch or reading a book makes me tired. I'm mostly in bed with my feet up. It's encouraging to know that it's normal to still be on rest mode. People keep reminding me that it hasn't even been two weeks, but sometimes to me it feels like forever. However, I am very happy that I had this procedure. I was experiencing extremely painful periods with intense bleeding. The pathology of my uterus showed excessive adenomyosis. Thank you agin for sharing your experiences.

I have been experiencing cramps like I never had in my life, even bleeding when I had a wee. Until this video I was scared something had gone wrong or I am a total wuss!!! Thank you for this SO SO much. God bless and stay safe x

    Thank you so much for posting such honest, heartfelt videos. I'm day 5 post op of a total abdominal hysterectomy (my uterus, cervix, and fallopian tubes were removed.) By day 3 gas and bowels began to move, which was painful art the time but such a relief by late evening. I scaled back to taking only one painkiller per day. On day 4 everything stopped moving again but then came down like an avalanche late last night such that I didn't fall asleep until after 6 am this morning. I'm trying to balance staying hydrated with sleeping properly but haven't figured out the balance yet.... And to make things even more challenging, my 40-year old body is experiencing hot flashes, which started months before I had the surgery. If nothing else I'm realizing that I have to learn to trust the healing process and accept that the best thing I can do is focus on getting as much rest as possible.

    I am going in for my abdominal hysterectomy in a few days. I have had 9 cone biopsies since my pregnancy with my twins 9 years ago. Ive got cervical dysphasia currently BUT for 9 years ive fought my insurance to pay for my surgery and FINALLY my new obgyn got it done! I have been in horrible pelvic and low back pain as well as heavy bleeding since the mis placed IUD after birth with my twins. I have to get abdominal instead of the scope because of a previous tummy tuck the scope will damage the ab wall. I have been very up beat and positive through this whole thing and watching your videos has help a lot! I will be out of work for 8 weeks but thankfully I have awesome kids and family to help. I am so happy that your husband is extremely supportive and helped you every step of the way! Thank you again for these awesome videos!

      Blair Dreessen unfortunately my experience was not a positive one. I woke up in a world of pain and my surgeon didn’t write instructions for a pain pump. I was bawling for 7 hours until she came back to finally order the pain pump. They inflated my catheter too big so I also had that pain. I basically walked out of the hospital as soon as they removed it. I have to get a different pain medication which will hopefully last more than 2 hours. Today is day 3 pretty rough but I finally found a comfortable spot to sit. I am keeping my fingers crossed that today is the worst.

    I just had my hysterectomy on 7/11/17, and I want to say thank you for your videos. I have felt so alone. I saw some people taking about gas problems. This is horrible for me. I am literally doing labor breathing just to get through it. I'm going to be watching more of your videos. Again thank you! I am a emotional wreck but finding your videos is helping me a lot.

    • @LoseitwithBlair
      @LoseitwithBlair  7 лет назад +1

      brittany rosales your so very welcome. I'm so glad they are helping you right now. I was extremely emotional during my healing which can be normal for some women. Your body went through a lot. Just listen to what your body needs. So if you need to cry just cry. I know what really helped was just connecting in with other women who were going through this same journey as me. Do you have women to chat with daily?

    • @brittanymoreno2373
      @brittanymoreno2373 7 лет назад

      Blair Dreessen I'm trying to talk to others. It's hard because I feel like a burden to others. I have my mom and she has helped so much. And I will make sure I let myself cry.

      Blair Dreessen unfortunately no, and the ones that did have it our the ones who " were back to work by the second week cause they were bored" which made me happy I found you. I watched your videos and cried with you. It felt so good to hear from someone who understood what I am feeling. I honestly can't thank you enough for your videos.

      I'm in week 3 of a total ab hyst. I had everything removed due to endo, ovarian cysts, and fibroids. I was feeling great in week 2 but the last few days I've been very sore and feeling like I took 2 steps backwards. I've decided to relax for another 2 weeks even though the Dr said I can go outside and drive I'm just not comfortable enough yet. I feel better than on day 1 or week 1 just not 100%. So, yes it is a very slow process. We can do. Stay blessed!

    So true. Feeling sore and crappy are normal. Thank you for pointing them out. Sometimes I think I wasn't getting better but it is all part of the recovery process. Pain meds and my binder are my best friends post op right now. I maybe walking but I take it easy as well. When you are on pain meds you feel like all is well until your body says it's not afterwards. 6-8 weeks is the recovery time and I thought the doctor was kidding, he wasn't. I am on my third week, still sore but definitely lesser than the previous weeks.

    I just had my complete hysterectomy resulting from cancer on Dec. 8th, leaving the hospital at 7:00 PM. I had it done at Cedar Sinai. I'd love to mention my Gyno's name but I don't think that's allowed. Regardless she is a specialist in robotic surgery, among her other talents. On Dec. 9th I was taking walks through the hood and just happy as a clam. Dec. 10. Pain? I don't have any. My doctor discussed the prescriptions she would be giving me after. I told her I wouldn't need them. Surprised she said she'd order them anyway and if I didn't want them, just let the pharmacy know. I didn't even have problems going to the bathroom, except for the burning the first day while peeing, after that no problems. I just drink lots of water, took the stool softener and there I went! Today is Dec. 13th. I'm doing light housework, driving and resting. I plan on starting up my training program for cycling on Saturday, Dec. 16th, only on my trainer in the house. I'm 67 and race bikes so it's imperative not to loss my fitness level. That's one of the factors in my mind why I'm having so little trouble, I was fit when I went into the surgery. It couldn't hurt. I also went in with a very positive attitude, no fear and believing that everything would come out perfectly.

      Everyone heals differently and just have to listen to their bodies. I just know this surgery for most takes more time to heal and bounce back. I too was in good physical shape heading into surgery but it was the normal 8 week recovery time that most women experience

    I had a radical hysterectomy 7 weeks ago. Ive lost 70 pounds in weight. Can hardly walk. Feeling really sick. Very weak. Think the surgeon screwed up. I DO NOT RECOMEND THIS SURGERY.
