  • I had a total hysterectomy laparoscopic (LAVH) with the Da Vinci Method on April 11th 2016. I had my uterus, both fallopian tubes, left ovary and cervix removed.
I had this performed in hopes of easing my chronic pain condition PCS or Pelvic Congestion Syndrome.

Had hysterectomy 3 1/2 weeks ago and going through exactly like you at this point minus the fever. Saw other RUclipsrs who seem to be like life as usual at this point. Was thinking to myself holy crap, what’s wrong with me. But then your video came up and I feel so much better thank you. Went through two weeks with no bleeding, then I started to sweep, do dishes, and fold my laundry because I was feeling a little better. Then I got a pale pink discharge when I wiped in the bathroom and I was terrified. The reason I got the hysterectomy was all the hemorrhagic bleeding I was getting from fibroids and endometriosis. So to see that color for the first time made me sick to my stomach. Going to listen to my body. Doing lighter chores, and taking the next entire day off on the following day to repair. Don’t want to go back under the knife. Thank you for this video it’s everything.🥰❤️

I felt the same way, watching people videos and they were walking outside, driving and I was still in the bed at 2 weeks. Doing my 2-3 min walks around the house every 3 hours. Now I’m 3 weeks post op, my doc cleared me to drive and I’ve really enjoyed that. Im still taking it easy. I went into Target the other day and could only walk/stand for 35 mins before I had to leave my gf in the store to go sit in the car. I also had my hysterectomy emergently because I was loosing massive peach size clots-that wouldn’t stop. I had to get 3 blood transfusions. They were literally pumping me with blood and it was coming right out. My periods were always my NORMAL, so the whole situation of loosing clots came out of nowhere.

Hi Blair thank you so much for your videos and for sharing your experience!! I am 5 weeks post up and oh boy am I praying and hoping there is light at the end of the tunnel...lol!! I was doing so good the first couple of weeks I started doing things around the house like cooking and cleaning... I couldn’t wait after the two weeks so I could jump in my car and start driving again cause I was getting so bored being stuck at home all day I was DYING to do some shopping! Well, let me tell you I REGRET ever doing that so soon cause I have NOT been the same since! I feel like all the walking and being on my feet for long periods of time has done some damage cause I’ve been in so much pain and discomfort these past couple of weeks along with some awful looking discharge which I didn’t have the first 2 weeks!! However according to the doctor I am fine and this is all part of the process...I was really looking forward to going back to work today but I had to take an extra week just to stay off my feet and get some rest in hopes of I make 360 this week and am 100% fully recovered by next Monday!!(being sarcastic) lol! Wondering how long it took you to fully recover and when all the soreness and swelling went down??

In case anyone is watching this and wanting more input. So , just got back from my check-up post surgery. All went well during surgery (had everything removed) and I am healing on-time. One note, in my case they decided to do a pelvic exam this time (I thought they'd wait until week 6) and they ended up using a bit of silver nitrate to seal one small area near the cuff. I am sharing so you can be prepared! It was painful. So, if. you THINK you will need an internal exam and any amt of silver nitrate I highly suggest taking tylenol/advil or even like 1/2 a pain med to get you through it. It wasn't horrible but it also wasnt' FUN. If you have a lower pain tolerance I suggest this even more...JUST one experience...that I haven't seen discussed too much on YT..

This is my 4th weeks of post-op and moving around, sometimes washing dishes, doing my laundry and sweeping. After 3 weeks I started driving just to get groceries. Yes I agree, the more things we do the more pain we have. So is best to take things slowly, listen to our bodies, and have more rest when need to.

Oh thank you sooooo much for this video!!!! I'm two weeks post-op of my hysterectomy and I am NOT moving from my bed. Especially not after I overdid it in my first week post-op and I started to bleed and have cramps! I am a control freak so for me this is hard to stay in bed while my home crumbles around me. Regardless I want to heal quickly and well so I can get back to my old self! Cheers

I had the same over doing it issue on exactly 4 weeks, scared me so much. Stayed in bed the whole next day and just did 5-10 min walks throughout the day. It’s taken 2 days to get back to feeling good again. And, I’m also going crazy wanting to get back to normal life. Learning a lot about patience 🙄

I'm currently 4 weeks post op and have my follow up appt with my Dr. today. I noticed that I don't have much physical endurance yet. I cook and clean daily and sometimes being on my feet for so long with bending and picking up things, causes incision pain and some internal pain. I've been driving since week 2 because I had to. It's hard because I want to do more but can't but I know I have to believe careful so I can heal properly. I might be going to work this week or next week. I have an office job so that shouldn't be much of a problem. I haven't bled except for a little light brown spotting which Im so happy about!

Hello Blair, l am so glad you are doing better. I am going in next week Thursday 30th August for total Hyst and to be perfectly honest, l am petrified. I think the reason being is l live on my own and l am worried that l wont be able to always help myself. Relying on people is not always easy, so l am listening to your story and realize the importance of a caregiver. Have a lovely day, regards Sherylee (Durban, S.A.)

Sherrie Wood Good luck! I had mine done on Monday, August 13th. I’m doing really well. I had almost zero pain at 2 weeks, so hopefully you’ll have an easy recovery like me. The biggest issue I’ve had is that I caught a cold with post-nasal drip, coughing, and sinus problems. Since I was feeling so good this little hiccup didn’t seem too bad, except the coughing causes fits of abdominal pain so I try not to cough which just makes getting rid of all this drainage almost impossible. Hopefully, you are like most people and don’t catch a cold while healing and have a speedy recovery.

Thank you so much for posting this. I myself I am right at my four week mark and I have had to go back in, wish I would’ve found this before it happened but I ripped some stitches in my new “cervix” area. The after math is horrible. To add to the boot have a question. Are you experiencing tenderness and soreness in your breast I’m thinking it has something to do with hormone fluctuations they spared my ovaries.

Blair.....thank you for your video. I am four weeks out to the date. I am having off and on bleeding, just out of the blue. I did clean house yesterday for the first time. I'm relieved you had the same experience. Why do they tell you to go back to work after two weeks? I took it easy except for driving 86 miles a day and working the last couple of weeks but the house was driving me nuts, I didn't have any pain at all yesterday. I hope the bleeding stops soon, it freaks me out. I guess I'm doing too much. ARGHHHHH!!!!

However, I was going to try and go back to work next Wednesday but I don't know if I can because I'm still having pain, and I cannot walk for very long...So I don't know if I should take 5 weeks off instead of 4 because the nurse told me I could feel good for a minute and the next feel bad...It't just hard because I'm an active person and I have to be sedentary. I get why they say the recovery time is weeks.
