- The 2022 Billboard Music Awards presented us with a pretty decent array of fashions from some of your favorite celebrities and musicians. Doja Cat captured the energy of her album “Planet Her” by wearing a Saturn themed look by Schiaparelli, while Megan Thee Stallion wore custom Mugler that referenced the late Thierry Mugler's magnificent work. Kylie Jenner emerged in Balmain on the arm of Travis Scott, while Megan Fox. andMachine Gun Kelly made headlines for getting raunchy in their looks from the event. In reality, it was an intriguing red carpet to say the very least.

I feel like the problem with Dixie’s dress is that she in a way “transformed” the dress from its high fashion and elegant look on the runway to a cheaper and more “LA girl look.”

It's kinda sad because her street & music video looks can be colourful & novel. I understand that maybe she wants to have a more refined presence on a red carpet, but IDK. Adding a bit of interest to these very sleek form-fitting dresses is all we're asking for.

I don't know if Luke noticed, but Dove Cameron's bodice cutout looks like a silhouette of a woman's body with the breasts creating an illusion. So thoughtful and pretty, I love.

This was a better fashion line up than I’ve seen in years, literally better than the met gala, and even followed a theme more closely: futuristic fashion and sculpture-like shapes

For custom Mugler, Meg’s should have been sculpted and fitted to her body PERFECTLY. They should’ve used a more premium fabric, and the creators should have thought through the event and fact that she’d be sitting down for a decent amount of time. They did her dirty for real.
I love that you're nice. Your body positivity around larger women and how their clothes should flatter their bodies. I'm also learning a lot about the new men's wear. I was able to give a barista a compliment on his outfit with some semi-intelligent comments. It was a fun discussion. I find it fascinating how much I'm learning about men's wear 2021-2022 and because of it, getting rid of some old-fashioned judgements. This old Broad can learn new tricks!

I had the same thought. the skirt isn’t exactly right for gilded age, but the dress would have been somewhat closer to the theme than SO MANY others that totally got it wrong.

Kali's white band is the waist tape for the corset - it's part of the garment. But like, dang, find a waist tape in a more natural skin tone if you're going to do a sheer fabric.

The beige insert in the plunge necklines could have used lots of crystals to disguise the color if they didn't want to dye it to her skin tone. Perhaps a white insert could have worked.

It’s a shame, because the photo Luke showed of the original runway look was absolutely stunning. It’s like she’s wearing a knock-off version, the print looks so washed out that the illusion doesn’t really work.
Literally when I saw her look I was like does it always have to be about serving body, there's many ways to serve body and it doesn't always have to be an hourglass dress, it's getting boring.

OMG Luke missed a reference!!!! Kali’s dress was clearly a mermaid reference, don’t you see the cups are the sea shells and around the hips are the “fins”! I see it so clearly!

Note on Kali's corset-- the white band is a waist tape to make to give more stability to the corset itself--I assume because it's sheer fabric and unlined, they wanted to make sure the corset could actually lace tightly and not bust open lol. I don't think it was an aesthetic choice, and tbh they should have dyed the waist tape to match her skin.

That white band on Kali Uchis corset is most likely twill tape. It’s to help reinforce the smallest part of the corset to make sure it doesn’t stretch or pull apart at the seams. It’s not there cause the corset isn’t doing it’s job, it’s there to reinforce everything, and you will see that same tape on the inside of a lot of corsets (and some dresses even). Should it have been her skin tone though? Absolutely, we don’t need to know it’s there, I know why it’s there but that still doesn’t mean I want to see it :/ it’s cotton, it dyes easily, so dye it.

Jack Harlow’s suit reminds me of a Norfolk jacket, an old school English hunting/shooting jacket. Some militaries and police uniforms still use that belted style

It’s like all stylists googled Gilded Age AFTER they saw the red carpet and realized that it’s not just about gold, it’s not the Hollywood Golden Age, and went, oh, shit, and have now discovered corsets. Corsets will be to the red carpet what sheer skirts with granny panties were a few years ago, and we will be as sick of them as we were of those, mark my words. I’m already rolling my eyes.
