    The Alma Chizzit story is actually based on a 1964 book tour brilliant British writer (also great-granddaughter of Charles Dickens. Yes. THAT Charles Dickens) Monica Dickens undertook, showing up at an Australian bookstore to sign copies of her latest brilliant offering.
    An older Australian lady approached her at her signing desk, and when asked "how can I help you today?" answered, "Emma Chisett?"
    So Monica signed the book to Emma.
    It was reported in all the Australian press, and became a popular joke in Oz. (Probably still is!)
    The story's not new...but the fact that it still works after decades, is a testament to the structure and timelessness of the well-written joke.

    Ooh I think I accidently met Susanne Bier once. She was so polite and generous. She shook my hand and everything. I met her at Zentropa where I was visiting briefly. I was just 19 and came with a friend.

    Great video! I really enjoyed Adele's take on British humor. It's always refreshing to see a celebrity embrace their roots. However, I feel like British comedy can sometimes rely too heavily on sarcasm and irony. I wonder if it might not resonate as well with international audiences who are used to different styles of humor. What do you all think?

    really enjoyed this video, great to see Adele sharing her perspective! but honestly, i feel like British humor can sometimes miss the mark for those of us who prefer more straightforward jokes. it can be a bit too subtle at times, don’t you think?

    Let's be honest. British humor is essentially just sarcasm. Watching a video of Farage and then saying "He seems nice." I value my wonderful British friends deeply. They are kind, personable, reliable, but none are particularly humorous. But they do tend to dine out on having Monty Python to reference.

    When is this show coming back?:(

    • @johnnyland144
      @johnnyland144 3 месяца назад +3

      Probably not until the end of next month, maybe the 20th or 27th of September at the very latest.
      I don't think the BBC have yet confirmed which date The Graham Norton Show' will be coming back, but it tends to start back up again towards the end of each September and then runs up until the following February.
      Barring the usual two week break for the 'Children in Need' coverage and the gap between the last show before Christmas and the New Year's Eve show the scheduling is usually pretty consistent.
      Once the show finishes its run in the following February, the show then goes back off air until the autumn, as I think Graham stopped doing a shorter series of his chat show which would start each Spring a few years ago.
      It's just that I think he used to do a shorter series of his chat show which would start around April time and then run until the end of June/beginning of July before going back off air until the autumn.
