    Great overview! I run more or less the same dirty combo set, although I sometimes exchange the Ask trousers for the Embla trousers when I'm running a hybrid build. The bubble and the summoned thorns are amazing.
    I do hope they rework some of the armor sets, though. I like mixing and matching to get exactly what I need for a given biome or my preferred playstyle, but they just made the Root Harnesk too powerful. It trivializes the Swamp, the Plains and the Mistlands (as long as you keep barley wine on you at all times :D) and is still the best one in the Ashlands. Sure, it makes 1 star Asksvins deadly, but I can easily ignore 4 archers while dealing with it. I really wanted to run the Ask set for the bonuses, but I ended up switching back since I'm not yet skilled enough to survive the onslaught that the Ashlands thows at you.

      This game desperately needs a plains light set, and a mistlands light set. Every time a light set gets released it is a crowd favorite.

    Thanks for this! Def a validation of some of the stuff I have been using. Would you be able to add the numbers for the mixed set with Flametal legs instead? I feel like the extra armor is worth the added slow against the Askvin and slashes from warriors as well as the 20% burn res will give you that 1 more sec to get out of the lava when an Askvin inevitably catches you with your back to it.

    • @t0ssacoin408
      @t0ssacoin408  Месяц назад

      I can def do some testing later tonight. I domt think itll make a big deal in protection because armor has diminishing returns, but the flametal legs do have a decent bit more armor. I'll add another comment later.

    • @t0ssacoin408
      @t0ssacoin408  Месяц назад

      So I ran the test against a couple of the mobs, I couldn't see any real difference at a glance. After doing some math, it made a marginal difference for most mobs I tested. Kind of makes sense due to only giving 10 more armor, and armor gives diminishing returns the higher in armor you get.

    • @Veggie6Nubz
      @Veggie6Nubz Месяц назад +1

      Awesome, thanks for doing that. Given what you found, I'll probably just swap back to the ask legs. Jen

    • @Veggie6Nubz
      @Veggie6Nubz Месяц назад +1

      I may have missed if as I haven't looked through all of your videos, but if you haven't done a video on this already, I would love to see a video to deep dive the diminishing returns of armor? When does it kick in? And is there just a soft cap or is there a hard cap? I think this is a great topic and would love to see iron gate develop more into peace bonuses with negatives like the root armor chest over just full set bonuses which I feel are great, but limit the player's capability to make impactful choices when determining if they should use a full set for its 3 piece bonus or just 1 of those pieces. Ask armor would be a great example that the set could have been split up with maybe legs giving negative jump and chest giving neg run while the helm gave 10 piece and then the 3 set bonus give the 20% attack cost reduction and the few pieces being weak to something like frost so the full set negates the frost res from your cloak and you need to take frost meads in mountains.

    • @t0ssacoin408
      @t0ssacoin408  Месяц назад +1

      @@Veggie6Nubz Yeah individual effects would def be more fun. The diminishing returns become pretty evident around Padded Armor. My "The Best Armor in Valheim" video isnt focused on it, but it shows how the full carapace set wasnt much better than full padded.

    I play support mage. Focus on casting protection and dealing damage when possible.
    I arrived in ashlands with (padded lv4, root chest lv 4, eitr weave legs lv 2)
    It was quite literally d-day for me and my 2 friends (they both use full carapace lv 2)
    It was quite laggy (guy with weakest pc was host) and i couldn't reliably tell which attack is coming (pierce or not), so i often died to warriors with slash attacks and asksvin.
    After we set portal and explore i upgraded to full embla set lv1 and while it has less defense i find it better.
    But I'll still make ask set, because i like spears and crossbows.
    Also thinking of trying a battle mage build - metal head, embla chest + legs, ashcape. Food - 1 health, 1 stamina, 1 eitr. Sword, shield and staff of protection (maybe can switch to root chest)

      @t0ssacoin408  Месяц назад

      Sounds drippy, but I'm not sure if that setup comes with fire resist. I thought you needed the full fenris set for that. If so, then I've got some more testing to do because that sounds super good.

    • @capatheist
      @capatheist Месяц назад +1

      @@t0ssacoin408 ok so I did some testing:
      The description of the hood has set effects description seperate from (fists + 15, damage modifier: fire resist)
      But both fists and fire bonus ARE under the set effect description...
      So I tested punching skeles with and without the good. Both times I was averaging 3 to 5 damage.
      But then I tested the "fire damage"
      I'm still not positive on the difference between heat resistance, fire damage, and burning or how much of each other they involve.
      But I tested this outfit^
      Wich I also wear ashen cape for, but it stayed on through all the tests so shouldn't change results as it has no fire resist.
      I used the damage tick from burning due to a lava blob attack.
      As it was much more consistent then the damage tick from burning due to standing in fire or touching lava. (Pretty sure lava does pure damage like falling trees as well as fire and burning)
      Side note: the flametal chest alone prevents you from burning from standing in fire or being set alight with a fire attack. Not from touching lava tho.
      So without flametal chest or fenris hood the lava blobs made me burn for a damage tick of 7.3
      With hood on but no chest piece. I burned for a tick of 5.5
      No chest piece and embla hood = 5
      Chest piece on but no hood = 3.7
      Whole outfit (with fenris hood not embla)= 3.1
      I then tested heat resistance with the water.
      Only the flametal chest piece made a difference... The difference being that it takes much longer to start boiling, and when you do start boiling it's slower (but still very fast you don't wanna boil regardless)
      Conclusion: the fenris hood doesn't protect against fire or burning.
      Meaning the only benefit I'm getting from it is +3% movement speed... Wich I love, but that's hardly worth it without the perceived extra protection from fire. I'll prob switch to embla.
      Another takeaway tho is that the flametal chest piece is doing all the heavy lifting for protecting me from fire and heat. But I could probably take smaller hits from fire attacks if I start using barley wine too...
      I'll see if I can stay alive without it. I really value inventory slots with the amount of equipment I need to carry as a solo that uses a Ballance build

    • @t0ssacoin408
      @t0ssacoin408  Месяц назад

      @@capatheist Thanks for sharing your results. I ran a few tests as well to confirm just in case.
      The Flametal Chest does seem to keep you from lighting on fire when touching a fire (kind of handy). However, it doesn't seem to reduce burning damage sadly.
      The Flametal chest does reduce the amount of damage you take from lava and from the hot water, but it is hardly enough to save you if you have really messed up. It is more for a quick in and out of the lava and hope you live kind of deal.
      Fenris hood just gave movement speed.
      Burning damage doesn't seem to be too much of an issue with this set, due to no weakness to it, but can be reduced with the barley wine. As long as you don't stand in a fire attack and let it stack, it shouldn't be too much of an issue.
      I think swapping the fenris hood for the embla hood would be a good deal if you enjoy playing a hybrid kind of build.
