Stay on top of trimming your single stranded knots. If you wait too long to seek them out and cut them off, that can & will create even more knots more breakage and slow down achieving longer length. Also knots can occur anywhere along the hair shaft. You can find them at top, middle or the ends so just trimming your ends is not enough to keep single strand knots at Bay...
Yeaaa you gotta be careful with to protein treatments 😬 I did a video in those recently. If you aren’t putting lots of heat or color on your hair then you probably don’t even need protein at all.
I live in a cold desert (Colorado)with very coily 4a hair. I have not found the perfect moisturizing product after several trees over the years that lasts in my hair. As the hours pass through the day I feel my hair shrinking and getting dryer and dryer. It is so frustrating cuz when I'm in a humid climate my hair grows like weeds. While living here, it tangles into single strand fairy knots no matter how careful I am. I use leaving conditioners & styling puddings and it's still not I keep my low porosity hair juicy. Does anybody have any good ideas please chime in... P. s. Coconut oil, protein and Aloe vera (which mimics a protein) does not work on low porosity hair in fact it makes it worse.
@@LKauf279 Sounds like you need to put a refresher spray on your ends nightly to keep the moisture in your hair and because it's drying out from the atmosphere so you may live in a very arid climate as I do so that's the reason for my suggestion.
Im asian and have very coarse, medium density and pin straight hair and I get single strand knots once or twice every 2 month even if my hair is super healthy as it doesn't have split ends. Like I really can't find any ressource to take care of my hair.
Your texture even though it's straight and it's probably very dry and that's probably why you're getting single strand knots .I suggest you condition more often and make your own refresher spray or purchase a detangler and spray your ends daily at night put preferably before you go to bed and put it in a couple of braids depending on the length of your hair let it dry at night overnight.
These knots are a pain and if I comb my hair with a small tooth comb they can get caught in the teeth of the comb and cause strands to snap off. I love your sense of humor about our curly lamb's wool. It can be challenging and seems to have a mind of its own 🙂.
Don't comb your hair finger detangle. That comb is break breaking your hair off with your fingers you can find the knots and gently. Your phone can't see the nuts so you just rip it out when you use the Combs. That's all in my experience and opinion
Fairy knots and single strand knots are truly awful. I've been seeing some more success lately by stretching my hair with my Revair, but I'm still a little worried that this may not be the best course of action for my hair. I also really love your hair band by the way!
If you have a low porosity hair moisturizing your ends with distilled water nightly might help I live in a dry climate and it's helping me. ...And you don't have to add more sure to your whole head because spreads in your hands will travel up the hair shaft...
New subbie 😊 love your sense of humor. My hair is always in mini braids but i get single strand knots some times at the end of my hair even in the braids! And its annoying. I'll start pre pooing weekly when I wash. Thank you
The only thing that worked for me was getting my hair cut straight/blow dried. After that I alternated between a straight cut and a curly cut. No more single stand knots.
I have chronic single strand knots and idk why 😭 I trim so often and I’m so gentle with my hair. wearing my hair straight has helped a little but they just won’t stop! I detangle my hair so gently with just my fingers and starting from the ends idk what to do . I don’t want to big chop again I’ve big chopped like 5 times in my life I’m not doing that again LOL
I don't think you should do a chop, single strand knots are very normal, i would say that every curly head has them. They're not something you can get rid of completely unless you cut off your whole hair, the amount of knots is what makes a difference. Cutting the ones you find would be the best way. Also protective styles, braids, buns etc
Our hair is super curly which keeps natural oils and hydration from getting to the ends of our hair strands, hence why our ends are dry and breaking off. Certain products can actually dry out my hair causing more curliness and dryness. I find that hydrating from the inside out and using omega fatty acids (flaxseeds, nuts, olive oil, etc.) in my diet help to, not only, slow down the knots, but help my hair to shine and grow. I've never done the big chop, but I do trim often.
So true…. And I do exactly as you say to minimize them❤ From a high porosity strand (😂) point and as my hair continues to grow longer…I stay on top…. Weekly: Prepoo, wash, condition and keep my hair in 2 strand twist 90% of the time. Invest in a shower filter has helped as well. And finger detangle is a must for me.
@@roselindthomas1 oh wow! I want to do this because I really feel like combing is breaking my fine strands. My hair webs easily-it's long and dense type 4. To avoid fairy knots stop using products with oil and butters in the first five ingredients. Oil and water.do not mix and the oil is drying your hair out. Meaning your hair is dehydrated and don't air dry your hair. I learn this from 30 day detox natural hair. I did it and my hair doesn't have any single strand knots anymore. My curls were defined for up to three days. This is my first week of the detox
I can definitely see how this would work well. I added butter to the ends of my hair while styling it yesterday and I nearly immediately ended up with a knot that I had to cut out. Lesson learned, never again lol
I'm in need of serious help up into like a year ago. I've never dealt with " fairy 🧚♂️ knots" ! I literally have them in my entire head of hair. I cut my entire head of hair off, too, to be met by these annoying tho
Im just trying to figure out how people in the 70s were able to have their hair big and out everyday. I got about 3 hours before my hair is knotted up. I cut it completely off after aboit a year every year for this reason and I'd like to finally let it grow out uuugh
Then you have to slide your finger down every strand of hair in your head and seek out single strand knots and cut them off that's the only alternative to ✂️ your hair off
I would recommend the search and destroy method evey 3 to 6 months in between regular trims . I get mine half way up the strand too. But once you do what u can just rest assure they are inevitable as long as the majority of your hair is healthy then your on the right track

Trimming doesn’t help me. I will cut 3-4 inches off and they’ll come back the next day. My hair seems dry but refuses to absorb moisture. Ugh. I have found any products that work. I’ve been natural my entire life. I’m 30.
Have you tried the LOC or LCO method to retain moisture? Each method works on separate hair porosities and once I figured that out, I was able to keep moisture in my hair for 4 days before I have to touch up again. And I would have less knots and breakage due to moisture
I go thru my well kept moisten 2 strand twist hair every few days to reset and moisten even clipping ends from nots on the tips they would come right back each time from my tips curling making slip nots. It sounds like you may need to spend more time smoothing and clumping your curls during wash day. I think that would solve your problem (let me know if curl clumping isn’t the reason). I am going to do a video on curl clumping soon though. I’ve learned a lot more about the wash day process that I’d like to share with y’all.

Apply flaxseed gel on your ends, it will "freeze" them basically and prevent your ends to move

Please consider wearing a protective style for a while, and trim, trim, trim.
