    Hi there! I wanted to share my opinion if that’s ok. I think the problem with RUclips is that since Afro-textured hair is unique (our hair like personalities has different characteristics), it needs to be respected that what may work for one person may not work for another. I think some YTubers tell people what they should and should not do based on what works for them. In my opinion , my hair doesn’t absorb Shea Butter well, but another woman’s can. I think we should consider that what works for one won’t work for all. We should focus on the principles (ex. our hair needs moisture, so people can choose a moisture routine that works best for them, which won’t include the same products for everyone). My hair responds well to oils (not alone of course). In all, I think we should focus on the principles of taking care of Afro-hair rather than telling people what they should and should not put in their hair. I think on most people’s journeys some things are trial and error. It took some time for me to stop using shea butter and to be quite honest, I wasn’t getting why it wasn’t working for me like I saw other women on RUclips, in which I accepted that. Shea butter gave me build up, and I used whipped shea butter, not raw, which I have seen some people use. I currently use Palm Oil and that’s working better and I’m not dealing with build up. Some more principle examples that I believe to be one-size fits all for all curly/coily folks include: - Avoiding too much heat which can lead to heat damage. - Washing your hair routinely and properly (Some women can co-wash, some women can’t. Some women wash their hair loose and some wash their hair in sections or plaits). - Wearing protective and/or low manipulation styles can help greatly with retaining length. - Moisturizing hair - Deep conditioning (as and when needed). - Sealing in moisture in some way (some women may use oil, butters, …) - Trimming ends as and when needed. Etc. I hope this makes sense. There’s a part towards the end of a poem I wrote that says this … “…Texturism is a real thing and the hair type-chart system needs to come down. Yes I said it, research the origin and you’ll see why I say do. Seek the Most High first for what you hair needs … sis, not RUclips.” (End of poem) 🌸

    Hair need oil so it don’t break

  • @josie7381

    I’ll preface this by saying I don’t think it’s right for people to be rude to you. I tried this method over 10 years ago with kinky curly knot today and the gel years ago before it was a thing. Not using oils was a mistake for me and short lived. Some of these statements in this video are not true, the oil is formulated into a product with emulsifiers. If you look at sheep they naturally produce lanolin (a natural emulsifier) to keep their wool conditioned. If you put oil in your hair a conditioner (which has emulsifying ingredients) would be able to remove that oil. Hair has a lipid layer naturally that is similar to lanolin. This layer is in constant jeopardy because of water, uv rays and the environment. Your hair is protein it needs lipids. Oils are not the problem the way some people use them is. Jesus talks about putting oil in your hair when fasting why would he tell people to do something that harms their hair. I think your hair is beautiful and is doing well. But I try to oil my hair everyday and my hair is doing well. Look into curl chemistry’s channel if you want.

    I watched your original video today and read some of the comments. Brutal! I came to your page and found this follow up video. First time viewer; thanks YT algorithm 😊. You mentioned your hair was butt length. Do you do natural videos here? Wash days? Styling tutorials? I'm finally trying to figure out "my" healthy hair journey. I'm making strides but still have a long way to go yet. Yes, I use raw oils on my entire perimeter. Years coming and I am finally seeing healing and regrowth in a major way. I do use my herb infused DIY oil on my scalp as well. Seeing fullness and density that I've never before had. That being said, I do like your stance and take on the no oils debate. Your hair is dense and gorgeous. Appreciate your content in both of these videos.

I am glad you have found some things that work for you and that you are on this journey of healthy hair!! Learning to listen to your own hair and scalp really is the most important thing. I have LOTS of videos on natural hair with pretty in depth information on the basics, on how to turn wash day into wash hour, and different tips and tricks I've learned along the way . I tried to make things as simple as possible. Here is my natural hair playlist. I hope it helps :) : ruclips.net/p/PL0ueKZ1UZzaGoXZ1n_hup0P8qKAKB_pJQ

I've see viewers take that as no oils and butters. I just shake my head at many of the comments. Don't blame others because you didn't process the information correctly.

    Her biggest oversight is that she doesn’t also see them as a lesson because she doesn’t see herself as her own main character. Even from past heartbreaks, I learned that no matter how much I love someone, I don’t wanna be with them unless they can show up healthier in my life. It’s also always almost certain that the other person new relationships is also experiencing the same problem. Yes, sometimes you’re a lesson for someone but they are also one for you :)

    • @DashaLikeSasha
      @DashaLikeSasha 2 месяца назад

      OMG this is SO GOOD!!! This is a whole word! You are exactly right! She does not see herself as the main character who is just in the turmoil part of her hero's journey. She doesn't see that she is in the middle of the story, and the story wouldn't even be a worthwhile story without this part. She conducts herself like she is a side character who was a casualty in all of the other heroes journeys. This is SUCH a great observation! we need MAIN CHARACTER energy. "Do it for the plot!" as the young folks say :)

    You’re super vague about this “protection” it almost seems like protection is “men doing want you want them to do”. Please EXACTLY, (maybe in a future video) give an example of this “protection”.

    • @DashaLikeSasha
      @DashaLikeSasha 2 месяца назад

      Example: My father stole my identity and ruined my credit. Him protecting me would have been him choosing to NOT do that. He did not protect me. In fact, he made my life more difficult. Example of protection: My husband noticed I was stressed out one day and he simply asked me one question "when was the last time you did something fun? Not with me, not with a friend, but something just for you that is not productive?" I couldn't remember the last time I did something fun. I am always doing things for and with other people. He notices how much I give and how much I do for others (himself included), and one of the ways he protects me is by encouraging me to take care of myself. I think this is a GREAT question, and a great suggestion. Something I have learned is that sometimes we use words and don't actually know what they mean, and an important part of communication is having a solid definition that we are working from that everyone understand. I will make a video on this soon. Something I also want to add is that protection is not only given by men, protection is given by women as well. So I want to also give examples of women protecting men. Example: Jada allowed Will to get all hype defending her at that awards show. She did not attempt to calm him. She did not let him know she was okay,. She did not attempt to deescalate the situation. I don't even recall her standing up for him and saying anything afterwards. She did not protect him. In my opinion, her protecting him would have looked like her saying "baby, I appreciate you sticking up for me, its okay, I'm okay. Or holding him back when he started walking up on stage." Example of protection: My husband has a REALLY hard time giving me feedback. If I do something that triggers him or makes him upset or even just annoys him, he tends to not say anything because of his past experiences. I repeatedly remind him that I don't matter more than him and my feelings and emotions don't matter more than his. I let him know that I WANT to know when I have done something that has upset him. Even if its not something that was "bad," if it made him feel icky I want us to talk about it so I can figure out what I need to do differently. And during the moments when he does vulnerably open up and let me know something I have done, I receive what he is saying, we work through it , and I give him lots of love and I thank him for sharing his heart with me so that he knows I am a safe person for him to open up to. He already knows... but this reinforces it in his subconscious which is really important.

      @@DashaLikeSasha 🤔🤔 seems like those men (in my mind) duties are to protect you. I guess I took it as you wanted men with no obligation to “protect” you.

    • @DashaLikeSasha
      @DashaLikeSasha 2 месяца назад

      @@TFSOTW Absolutely not. I don't think all men are obligated to protect all women. I do feel that men can avoid being a danger to women, but in my opinion, y'all are not obligated to protect someone who is not under your care. There's no way you can protect someone you have no influence over. E.g. if my husband asks me to do or not do something or tells me he would prefer I do or not do something, I am accommodating his request even if I don't like it. He would do the same in relation to me. We protect each other and trust each other. There's basic kindness and decency, which we can all show to everyone, and then there is protection which... idk... I don't want or need my husband, my brother, my future son, my guy friends, to be out here trying to be supermen to everyone. The world is too dangerous for that. I want them to mind their business and take care of their own. The issue is a lot of men are not taking care of their own. Unfortunately a lot of women are not taking care of their own either. That means children, both boys and girls, are left unprotected to fend for themselves, and they are not taught the skills necessary to find someone that they can protect and who is worthy of protection and who will also protect THEM when they cross into adulthood. We need each other, and we have forgotten that because of the pain we have endured.

  • @showcase0525

    I think we do "need to go there". Its a negative cyclical effect with the starting point that majoirty of bm want to and even instincually so - want to protect and provide for bw. It has hit a point where through life advancements ladies do not trust, believe, want, or even allow bm/men to attempt to do that. You can protect someone that doesnt want to be protected. Doubly so if they dont want and dont even belive you can. As for provision, we meet the problem with fusion of current economics and the (warped*) version of the 80/20 rule. Ladies accept 80 of mens financal status but only want the 20% of men whos financial status can provide to the degree imagined by laides. This, fused with the 20% are only the 20% because of how our financial and econmmic system is, there will be the minor elites, and the remaining limited performers. So, a prevailing narrative that ladies dont trust our protection (think of man versus bear social thing going on) and a historic, current, and opposed future of financial success for bm, the ask are not even, and that fails to be taken into account. Think of the difference between "smile and be nice" and "financially provide for your family above standard expectations and give your life defending it". Alot more women can meet those expectation, through thier own effort. Alot less men can, despite thier effort. Let alone getting into the history. - And for your comment about hearing all your life not having sex, your hearing good advice. Its to not *freely* have sex with anyone, but to deeply have sex with your man. We respect the latter and produces better ladies with respect to what men want. The issue of feeling comfortable in it is either a personal or gendered issue, which needs self or gendered assistance. But to follow good guidelines to get the good guy/outcome and get disrupted in that continousness for a fear or lack of wanting is unfortunate. Take that as a man was giving out all of his time and emotional support to you during the relationship, and just stop being considerate, emotionally supportive, and even openly comminicative with you now that your the wife. I believe that wouldn't (and hasn't) gone over well.

    He gave you feedback and you immediately said we can go there🤦🏾‍♂️. It's not as easy as you say. As far as women smiling, your speaking from a woman around women not a man around women I thought your interview was the most genuine and still do. I understand you saying black women are the least protected but black men are too. It's also very hard to protect black women when only our women profess we are sh@t, and we say that to our black boys all the way until they are black men. It's hard to protect the ones who cause the most hurt.

    • @DashaLikeSasha
      @DashaLikeSasha 2 месяца назад

      Nothing about love is easy. Love is a choice. You can find excuses about why it is hard, or you can find reasons to love. In my household we find reasons to have grace, and we find reasons to be patient and to love. And not all women are out here saying that black men are sh*t. A lot of us LOVE yall. The internet makes black men believe black women hate them, and it makes black women believe that black men hate them. Both of those are lies that are easy to carry with you into the dating world, abd believing that impacts how you treat people and receive things. I would challenge you to get in different spaces if you are in places where black women are saying you aren't sh*t. In terms of protection. Don't be with someone who causes you hurt, and you won't be tasked with protecting someone who hurts you. Just because one woman hurt you doesn't mean all women will. And YOU decide who has access to you. You must do what is necessary to heal so you can make the wisest choices possible. But being fearful and resentful of all women will not get you what you want. Love requires vulnerability, and healthy love requires knowing who to be vulnerable with. In regards to women smiling, I said in the interview that I probably experience women different because I AM one. I wish that wasn't the case. You deserve to be smiled at and to be treated with love and respect. And I think if you can find the courage to believe that's possible, not just in general but for YOU, your whole world will change.

      @DashaLikeSasha social media doesn't have to show me. Even black mothers say you are just like your father in a bad connotation. We hear I'm independent all the time. We have been bad mouth far longer than we were ever talked good about. But as you said, you're not a man or in these spaces. I can tell that it's not your character as you exude a true beauty and charm, but this is most of our reality, especially when dealing with our women. I'm speaking from experiences, but that isn't who I'm with now. I have peace and love in my home now. I do want to say I appreciate your interview then and now.

      @@313massey I see what you are saying. I think it is in part 2 of this video where I touch more on black mothers specifically. It wasn't until I was with my husband that I really saw that side of things, and what I will say is that its DEEP, and I feel for men going through that. With that being said I will reiterate what I said in my initial response, make sure you are in places and around people that speak life into you - sometimes that is not the family you were born into, but the one you create for yourself. Honestly, it is hard to find the balance of listening and understanding while also letting people know that there is more out there. I 100% believe your experience with a whole lot of black women has been bad just like a whole lot of my experiences with black men have been bad. My husband is the first time in my life I have ever felt healthy love from a man. I would hate for anyone to be robbed of that experience, of that love, because they couldn't find it within themselves to believe it exists. Thats why I am so hard on both men and women. It is because I want better for us, and better is out there if we can train our minds to see it. I'm so glad you have peace and love in your home :) And thank you so much for watching then, for watching now, and for sharing your mind and heart with me. It means far more to me than you know.

    Your sound byte about just having to "find one woman" stuck with me. No need to try to change every woman's mind etc. "You just have to find one"...I'm paraphrasing-- good advice tho.🫡

      I'm so glad that helped! That is what I used to tell myself, I just need to find one person. It gave me hope and opened my heart to the possibility of finding my person, and it worked!

      Then believe it! It is just as easy to believe you ARE the baddest as it is to believe you aren't. Takes the same amount of effort, and you believing you AREN'T phenomenal is the more delusional option in my opinion 👀

      Me either! The only time oil touches my hair is on the rare occasion that I’m using those black rubber bands to keep beads in my hair. I put oil directly on the rubber bands.
