My most anticipated album!!! You should check out Dark Tranquillity. Same vocalist as The Halo Effect. They're my favourite band of all time. They have a HUGE catalogue of material. I recommend "The Dark Unbroken" for modern stuff, "Lost to Apathy" for an older song. :)
Mikael is the Singer for Halo Effect, the lead singer for Dark Tranquility for pretty much forever, and I TOTALLY can relate to what you said about his harsh vocals being so clean to listen while being harsh xD Their album is about to come out, August 12th this year, and they a couple'o days ago just released another EP
This is the classic Gothenburg sound, of course what do expect with Jesper being in the band it's all former members of In Flames except for Mikael from Dark Tranquility (even though he played live with them)
Melodic death metal very clear cut, just like inflames and dark tranqulity, which members of this band are former/current members of. Nothing power metal about this really. Riffage completely different.
My point being they have a distinct sound from the other melodic death metal I've heard, identifiable as Halo Effect. Though I'm fairly new to the genre.
Mikael Stanne is the best vocalist in metal IMO. He has an absolutely beautiful baritone too. Go look up some Dark Tranquillity tracks, they are an awesome band for 20+ years now that has a whole bunch of great albums. My favorite of the old stuff is "Projector," out of the newish stuff probably "Atoma." But all their stuff is great. They're incredibly consistent and just about every single track on every single album is memorable.
