    In Flames was THE pioneer of Melodic Death Metal in the 90s, along with At the Gates and Dark Tranquility. They originally said the intent was to mix Iron Maiden with Death Metal. In Flames has strayed a bit in recent times (and many think it started with this album), but there is no denying that they are forever the pioneers of the genre. Absolute legends.

    • @DennisVlaanderen

      tbph they didnt "stray" bc some people dont like the more melodic side of melodeath. It's like ppl who say Cannibal Corpse stopped being good when Scooby Doo left or Slipknot hasnt been good since Iowa, it's a delusional level of genre elitism & nostalgia poisoning that people need to grow out of. Everything doesnt stay exactly the same forever and it shouldnt.

    • @TroubledTurnip
      @TroubledTurnip 5 месяцев назад

      @@mediumvillain It's all just opinions, man. Iowa is my favorite Slipknot album and it's not elitist or some shit to like it more than the others. I just like it. No one expects In Flames to make the same song for 30 years, but people are going to have opinions about which albums they like the most.

    In Flame style was a fresh change to the metal scene in the early 90's. Their style influenced a ton of bands going into the late 90's and 2000's, so much so that in interviews some bands jokingly say they should pay In Flames royalties.

    This band is so good. "Only for the weak" is an amazing song of them. And weirdly enough i like the new remasterd version better then the old one. Fans are very split up about it, i disliked the remastered songs at first too, but after a few times listening they are actually slightly better and more modern. Before even viewing this video. I grew up with the original members of this band, and some other bands (Dark Tranquility, At the Gates, the Haunted aso) and they're the nicest, kindest, funniest people you could ever imagine being around. I'd love to see a Gotheburg sound-marathon as it runs from the lat/early 80/90's up until today and would showcase everything from the more old school-related death metal to their more progressive and melodic side. Just a thought.

    I loved old in flames for the riff work as a guitar player, but this album was also cool. I didn’t get that vibe to pick my guitar, but it was catchy n I dug it no lie!
