    I love your attitude on best by/expiration dates. I always say the food can't read the labels so it doesn't know :)

    I freeze my bananas when they get to that point. I just throw them into the freezer just like that. If I want to make banana bread, smoothies, any recipe w banana inside I just pull them out and put them into a bowl to defrost

      Yes, I did freeze the last remaining one. It's so convenient to use them later. :)

      I buy bags of milk chocolate chip morsels for my chocolate fix because it turns out less expensive per ounce.

    If you peel.you.carrots and put them in a bowl of water in the fridge they last a really long time. I do this with green onion potatoes radishes and turnip. I only do it when I see they are starting to get wrinkly.

    I see that the store gives € 0,15 refund for the milk bottles, but if you were to find bottles along the way, does the store give money back for them if you bring in a bunch?

    • @CocosUniverse
      @CocosUniverse  2 месяца назад +3

      Yes, they do! Someone paid the deposit at some point, so they give it to the person that gives the bottle back to the store. And some bottles and cans have 0,25 € deposit on them...

    • @EmmaHope88
      @EmmaHope88 2 месяца назад +2

      There are people, often homeless, but not always, who go through trash cans to collect bottles at train stations and throughout the city. So it is not uncommon for other people who only have a single bottle or so, and can't make it to the store to return it, to just leave them outside the trash cans, so that those people can just pick them up without actually having to dig through the trash. Homeless people also like to sit outside concert venues, especially stadiums and arenas, to collect all the bottles that people have with them that they need to get rid off before entering the venue. People usually just throw them in bags or carts for them before entering. It can add up and is usually a nice amount of money.

      @@EmmaHope88 I live on the east coast of USA and each state has their own "laws" and attitudes toward recycling unfortunately. In my state, they do not have a refund policy so most people do not really do their part in not being slobs. Each city in the US is FILLED with homeless and many "zombies" due to drug/alcohol/addictions. I am REALLY glad to hear that your part of the world has its priorities intact.

      @@markritacco270 I lived in Massachusetts over a decade ago. The town I lived in had two blue bins for paper and recycable things. They were usually being picked up with the regular trash. I think there was a five cent deposit on cans, if I remember correctly. We collected them in an extra bin.
