I'd get the Atem Mini Pro instead of the cheaper Atem Mini since it can also stream and record to USB disk at the same time, replacing the need for a laptop, which is what we do at our church.
7:15 If you're using NDI, that flicking on and off happens with the connection speed to the NDI source cannot keep up with the bitrate being sent. Even if you have the right hardware, there are any number of reasons the speed is limited or choked.
Question... If you are using an ATEM mini, which only supports 1080p, what is the point of spending the money on a 4K camera? You would have to actually step up to the ATEM Television Studio 4K8 (spending $4500) in order to actually take advantage and stream in 4K... Otherwise you are limited to streaming in 1080p only.
This is helpful I'm doing a crash course bc I'm trying to help our church. Our church have the ATM mini. We have the fomako ptz camera 2, and the fomako joystick 🕹
why isn't "god" streaming your content, too lazy ? or is it an imaginary friend that never helps, million+ dead from covid, children shot/killed at school ....
Hi my friend. THANKS FOR POSTING THE VIDEO!! By the way, Ive run three cameras mixed (gopro/BlackMagic 6k/ and a 5dmkii ALL on 100 foot hdmi cables into my ATEM mini. While I cant noit remember the brand, I bought them on amazon, the only thing that was unusual, was that there was some type of signal booster built into center of each cable, and the video signal would only travel in one direction (which I still do't understand) but it can be done 1t 100ft hdmi 1080 ;-)
Is there a PTZ camera that we can control and stream from an app on an ipad (like the mevo is so easy to just connects and stream. Easy for anyone to operate. But we'd like to be able to zoom.) We have no PA booth at our church so I want to be able to operate the stream from an ipad in my pew.
Many PTZ cameras have web interfaces, possibly all of them. I have worked with the PTZ optic myself. The ATEM can also be controlled by multiple apps on Apple devices. The PTZ should either have presets or let you move the camera from the web interface. So, you could do it I believe. It may just be a little clunky switching between the two
Thanks! I really appreciate this. I scored the ATEM Mini Pro for $295 which is coming today. They must have had a price reduction. I am going to go with the FoMaKo NDI and either one of your camera controller options. I have to do this out of my own pocket for or church so I have to do this a frugally as I can.
a cheaper approach than ATEM and a Control Keyboard would be a stream deck and then use OBS with NDI. You can use the streamdeck for a controller/switcher/everything.
Pretty good tutorial, as far as it goes. But you omitted one very important thing: a way to preview the camera image before you switch it into program view. In fact, if you're streaming directly from the ATEM mini, you need some kind of multiview monitor to see either of the cameras.
The ATEM really only does HDMI input. At that distance best think might be to run and SDI cable to the camera then use an SDI to HDMI converter like this: amzn.to/3W7f9Q2 We do that with two of our cameras and it works great.
In the set-up shown, the video signal goes direct from camera to the ATEM input, via HDMI cables. The controller links to the cameras over a separate network, which could be Ethernet.
I only have the camera and I connected HDMI to my tablet I don’t have the joy stick or the Atem board. Is it possible to get video without joystick and the Atem board ?
If the ATEM Mini Pro was used, could the computer be eliminated from the setup? Would the ATEM Mini Pro send a RTMP-encoded H.264 live stream of the Ethernet (without using OBS to encode the USB webcam output into a streamable format)?
Yeah, the big difference with the Pro is that it can do the streaming itself. You'll need a PC to configure it, but it can otherwise run the show all by itself.
If your PTZs are placed around a large room, you'll need sdi-hdmi cross converters x 2 per camera this gets expensive and maybe nearly worth the sdi version. Anyone recommend any cheap and reliable cross converters other than the BM ones. Or has anyone amy other ideas? As in can the camera feeds run over ethernet to a hub at ops and from there be converted to HDMI to go to the switcher?
@Foundery Development ... Why you not recommend SMTAV vs FoMaKo PTZ anymore? In Europe there is no FoMaKo but SMTAV with NDI 30x we have and they are great. I have both Fomako and smtav and I cannot see the difference in image quality, they looks exactly the same to me.
It’s a very good video, you explain everything well and I wish that your channel had existed when I started out. You just have to stop refering to converters for long HDMI cable runs, fiber optic cables are just cheaper and so much more conveniant.
This setup uses the audio from the sound board and video from the atm mini. With OBS delay I am unable to sync the auto and video. Any suggestions? Thanks , good job.
I've found that doing compositing is a bit clunky with the OBS and even more so with the ATEM upstream/downstream keyer (don't bother). A copy of Resolume Avenue is an awesome realtime compositing engine which you can easily pipe into your ATEM (as though the ATEM is a second monitor) or send resolume output to second display and tell OBS to use that display as a source if you're using OBS. It's not cheap but it's super easy and will save you time and hassel. Clients can be super impressed with your overlay/lower-thirds "god mode".
Sorry, was away for a few weeks. You can control the camera with the PTZ plug in in OBS is you like. It's not quite the same as the controller, but it works. I'd start there and if you find it frustrating get the controller later.
What other program are you wanting to switch? If it’s OBS I would look at streamdeck (amzn.to/3Kjy8mO) and the Companion software. bitfocus.io/companion
Nice video:) Like alot of Chinese video controllers, this one is rebranded in different Brands: €330- Minrray KBD2000 PTZ controller €775- RGBlink PTZ Camera Control €740- FoMaKo PTZ Controller PoE NDI €330- Alibaba . idk if there is a difference in loaded software, but i gues not. Safe a buck and buy the €330- :)
Yes! You will want to take the feed from our sound system and put it into the ATEM. It has to 3.5mm inputs. It will then combine the video and audio for you into a single stream for the computer to use. Or, if you already have the audio going into the computer the way you like you can just use the ATEM to switch and mix your video.
@@Foundery We already have the audio going into the computer and plan to use OBS to mix the video for live streaming purposes. Does the ATEM still have a purpose in that scenario?
Thanks very clear video on setup. Im new to this whole system and I’m joining the media at my local church as tech support to figure out our system. The person who set it up is no longer with us and didn’t show anyone how it all works. We have a similar setup but we have 1 camera, an ATEM, a breakaway box, a Mac mini, 2 desk monitors, 1 confidence monitor , two congregation screens, and a monitor for the overflow room. So after watching this video I have a better understanding of what everything does in this simple system but our system has the breakaway box and additional monitors so I’m trying to figure out how everything works together. It’s all wired up but occasionally something goes wrong bc a plug is pulled and no one’s knows how it’s all supposed to work so we have to try and figure out how what happened which takes a long time. I know this is a lot but if you could show a similar set up I think it would help me a lot.
We use the Atem Mini Pro with two PTZ Cameras with Restrem. Works great. Now I realise that I need the controller. Thanks for the video.

NDI? The ATEM mini does not recognize NDI

I want to use ECamm live as my video switcher with a Mac mini. What set up for that?
Update your Atem Mini firmware to the latest. i had the same flickering in my monitor, once I updated it's gone

you can connect a monitor to the HDMI output of the ATEM and we will already have a preview screen with all the cameras and the master output
@@FrancoAversa Of course you do...that's my point. You just neglect to call it out in the video. :>)

When will HoneyOptics support NDI HX3? It reduces network bandwidth usage to give other users a break (or let you add more cameras).

OBS supports delaying video and audio so you should be delay which ever you need to within OBS to make it match up.
@@sethmotes290thanks for that, I'll have to look it up. I've been noticing like half second delay between audio and video.

You can record the stream directly via Atem mini pro (USB-C out) to external memory. The actual stream should be over Ethernet cable.
