"Man, I don't drop character 'till I done the DVD commentary." Fun Fact: Theatrical movie debut of Brandon Soo Hoo and Sandra Valladares. Cameos Cameos Fact: Tobey Maguire, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Lance Bass, Jon Voight, and Jason Bateman play fictional versions of themselves. Method Actor Fact: When recording the audio commentary for the Unrated DVD and Blu-ray, Robert Downey, Jr. actually spends the entire commentary as the character that appears on the screen as the movie progresses. Historical Fact: The South East Asian gang Flaming Dragon, led by a pre-teen boy, was modeled after God's Army, a guerrilla army in Myanmar. The group was led by twin brothers Johnny Htoo and Luther Htoo, who were nine years old when it was founded in 1997. Johnny and Luther Htoo were fond of American action movie heroes, especially the Rambo franchise. Cruise Unbound Fact: Ben Stiller said nearly all aspects of the Les Grossman character were developed by Tom Cruise, including the dancing and the look of the make-up. Stiller said that in addition to the more obvious make-up effects applied to Cruise's face and head, and the extra hair on his chest and arms, Cruise also decided to play the character wearing oversized prosthetic hands.
If I recall, Tom Cruise was originally approached to play Matthew McConaughey's character (and then, as you said, TC told them what he wanted to do). The dvd commentary was really good (although it's been FOREVER since I watched it).
The idea for Simple Jack is apparently from when Ben Stiller auditioned for Forest Gump and gave such a "unique" interpretation of the character that it stuck as a joke in the movie industry for years
There are barely any women in this movie. However, Maria gets the best line (that guarantees laughs every single viewing!) when she does the simple jack “ma ma”
In Back to the Future 3 they actually ran a train off the bridge at the end and only had one change to film it so they had a BUNCH of cameras filming it.
Here is a question that I don't think anybody had ever considered asking and that is how do you outshine comedic Legend Bill Hader. And the answer is simple cast Robert Downey Jr as an extreme method actor and cast Tom Cruise as a psychotic Studio executive. Also write one of the most brilliant satires of Hollywood movie making that has ever been put to film
The open of this film - like so many other aspects of Tropic Thunder - was a brilliant gag that could ONLY work the first time it was used (before people got wise to it). In the theater, it followed REAL ads & trailers and the audience didn't even realize they were already into the actual feature. It was also a brilliant way to introduce the characters - by showing their previous works. Tropic Thunder is brilliant and devastatingly funny on SO many parodic levels. I can't see it ever being equalled. Even though in some ways it is very much of its time, in other ways, it is a timeless Hollywood parody.
I'm not sure if Simple Jack is also poking fun at Of Mice And Men. My husband first saw Leo in This Boy's Life and then saw What's Eating Gilbert Grape. He thought Leo was in an accident but was such a good actor and so loved that they let him keep acting even with his "disability".
I wish i could go back and watch this movie for the first time again. Just an absolutely stacked cast getting to show off their comedic chops. So good.
I wish I had seen this in theaters so I could have gotten the full experience with the in-movie trailers not realizing that the actual movie has started after the real trailers.
Unironically Ben Stiller is a very talented guy! A great actor and director! The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Escape at Dannemora and Severance are some of the best surprises i've ever had!! Hope he will just keep doing his own thing!
People comment about the movie could not be made today, but it did not seem like it could be made when it was or even multiple decades before that either
4:00 "Why are they still trying to save him?" You can survive that easily. Getting disemboweled is technically a flesh wound. As long as your intestines are intact, you can place them back inside and sew up the flesh and you'll live.
You looking for recommendations? Highly suggest reacting to the following overlooked animated movies: Charlotte's Web (1973) Wizards (1977) The Hobbit (1977) Heavy Metal (1981) The Last Unicorn (1982) The Flight Of Dragons (1982) The Secret Of NIMH (1982) Fire & Ice (1983) The Adventures Of Mark Twain (1985) An American Tail (1986) Kaena: The Prophecy (2003) All are available on RUclips Movies channel to rent or buy, so there's one place where you can find them. I suggest turning on subtitles, since you might have mute all the music.
Bro on the left could LEGIT become an actor, you got the freaking bone structure n shit and a good face. Might sound weird but, good for you bro, i wish you the best.
Every time I watch reaction to this movie I’m cracking up also. It never gets old. 😂😂 check out “ A simple plan with billy Bob Thornton. Or A long kiss goodnight with Gina Davis. 👏👏🥰
Great movie to see father and son. I watch it with reactioners at least once a month. I will recommend better editing and that's just feedback so you get more subscribers. I subscribed but you could improve on where you edit but I don't know if it was just this movie cuz it's my first. Anyways, Great everything else and you got some good movies on your list so I'm going to go check them out.
Crazy how reaction YT Channels are a thing now lol Good watchalong guys! 🍿 Some movie suggestions if you have not seen: Alien series (A As A3 AR Prometheus AC [ARo*]) (*Alien: Romulus next year?) 👽 Lawrence of Arabia 🐪 Indiana Jones 🐍 Happy Gilmore 🏒 Kill Bill 🗡️ James Bond 007 🕵️♂️ Ghostbusters 👻 House of 1000 Corpses 🧟♂️
Thank you for joining! Great suggestions to! I have 2 James Bond reactions (casino royal and a rewatch of my favorite Bond film Skyfall) on the channel!
I to hate when people say oh that *couldn't be made today* you guys laughed throughout. Comedy is just that it's supposed to make you laugh but it's not serious. Movies like *this could be made today* all of us could laugh & enjoy while snowflakes can choose not to watch
Tom Cruise stole the show for me. Being a teen in the 80s when Cruise hit I was never a big fan, but he was fantastic. After this came out I read somewhere they were gonna do a movie with Grossman/Cruise as the main character. Then I saw Cruise make surprise appearance as Grossman at some awards show & was psyched. Then I never heard anything else about it. Last good flick I saw before Woke virus fukd Hollywood was excellent Apatow, Johah Hill, Russell Brand "Get Him To The Greek" in 2010. The "prequel" "Forgetting Sarah Marshall", though not necessarily a must-watch first as it's more of a Rom-Com, is excellent as well. If haven't seen the Apatow catalogue they're mostly all top shelf comedies! See ya! ✌️🌎❤️
That spinoff movie was probably shelved due to pressure from a certain producer that still had lots of power in Hollywood at the time. The dictator style of running things, being fat, and love of diet coke were most likely taking shots at Harvey weinstein and it took another 10 years before he was taken down
7:28 Why the f*ck did you tell him that?! When this film was first released, I (and many others) didn’t realise that was Tom Cruise until the credits rolled. His participation was a huge surprise. Well done… I quit your reaction immediately. 🤦♂️
I LOVE this move more in 2023\2024 than I even did when it first came out. The further that we move into political correctness,...the funnier this movie gets.
Yeah, ya hate that "movie made today" comment cause its weighted down in pure truth lol this generation got softer, just accept it. Its cool though, cause this sort of thing just loops back around. They'll crack down until they shoot themselves in the foot, so to speak, qnd one of the next generations will start pushing that envelope again until we get back there.....again! 😂

I love watching this movie with the actor commentary! They are hilarious and RDJ keeping it true and staying in character throughout, hilarious.
“Somebody said they were close to me” is the often missed, funniest line in the movie
The delivery on that is perfect
The agent took the money and the plane and used them to save his friend.
The idea for Simple Jack is apparently from when Ben Stiller auditioned for Forest Gump and gave such a "unique" interpretation of the character that it stuck as a joke in the movie industry for years
this is soooo funny if true
The director died but all the hidden cameras were still filming everything. Turns out they didn't need a director.
I thought they made a documentary about making that movie and that's the movie that won the prize.
In theaters, the fake trailers were interspersed with the real ones.... mind-blowing!
that sounds so fun!
@@Rakhim99 I think this film won an Academy Award for "Best Child Yeet."
Fun fact: Jack Black's mom worked for NASA and his half brother is a genius scientist who created GPS navigation systems for the military.
The year this film came out Tom Cruise actually did a dance skit as his character at the MTV Movie Awards.
This is the greatest comedy of all time. Love showing it to people for the first time lol
There are barely any women in this movie. However, Maria gets the best line (that guarantees laughs every single viewing!) when she does the simple jack “ma ma”
RDJ had many amazing roles prior to Ironman. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and Chaplin are great lead roles.
Chaplin was so good!
In Back to the Future 3 they actually ran a train off the bridge at the end and only had one change to film it so they had a BUNCH of cameras filming it.

"Observe God's mistake!"
I give this film 5/5 dead baby pandas 🐼🐼🐼🐼🐼
You ruined the feeling of realizing that the Less Grossman is played buy Tom Cruise

Tom Cruise kills it with his prosthetic arms and hands. The butt has too also be fake. 😂😂

You have to check out the Tropic Thunder MTV music awards video with Jack Black, Ben stiller and Robert Downey jr. Very funny.
Gilbert Grape -Leo
This is a parody of a bunch of movies. Platoon, apocalypse now, saving private Ryan, mission impossible, Indiana jones, the deer hunter and others
You guys should react to The Curse starring Emma Stone and Nathan Fielder. It's a comedic satire. I think you guys will love it!!
Basically a remake of The Three Amigos.

How about giving "They Call Me Bruce" a go?
Hey from Atlantic City, I think the best way to bulk up the Channel is the "MCU"
They ended up making a documentary
You def seen this and should've waited to let ya friend figure out the Tom Cruise part those 2 parts were the big reveal
Super troopers
React to A Scanner Darkly. RDJ in that too.
Beasts of no nation, the worlds end, midnight special

Severance is pretty much Dollhouse, just not nearly as good.

Dumb and Dumber
