    I think this video is the best progression drills I've seen so far because I can practice by myself. This is my most favorite video that you have produced.

    Thanks for the tips. I haven’t seen very many coaches demonstrating these techniques.

    Agreed. Open stance is the go-to shot around the baseline.
    Around the time of the changeover in coaching (1990s), however, a generation of players less comfortable with traditional/neutral (closed) developed an apprehension to come forward to the net...I think the term "baseline basher" came about around this time...

    Great drills coach. Give me something to do besides hitting serve when I don’t have a partner. You make it look easy - but to coordinate that footwork and arrive in a coiled position clearly takes some practice. Looking forward to trying this soon when the weather improves in NY.

    My favorite video is the overhead video, and my favorite drill is touching the net, then hitting a overhead.

    Aritz, I understand efficiency of why we do open stance for forehands so that the hip doesn't get in the way when you rotate the upper body. Can you tell us why on backhands we do not do open stance? Why don't pros hit open stance single backhands or two-hand backhands?

    • @ldeue4837
      @ldeue4837 5 лет назад +1

      You have much less body restriction on your forehand side as the off arm is allowed to be removed from the racket...with the speed of the game today this makes the SEMI-open(if you want to get technical) much easier to move and hit dynamically around the majority of the back court. Both back hands are really restricted technique-wise to a more neutral or even close stance...the way the body rotates in the backhand is similar to a baseball swing with the hips driving the racket forward. This is a tough one to explain but I gave it my best lol.

    Ok. So send me the extra drills for forehand. I am a lefty so all these right hand videos are very confusing for me somehow. i seem not to "look' at the right point in space whereby I am too tight. When actually one does have let the racket loose? When the ball bounces on the court or later? Thank you for this great video and as someone else said cute how you say "Splitastep"..

    It's not about open stance semi-open or neutral. All of them are useful. The stance changes according to the depth of the ball. For shorter balls (close to the service line) neutral stance is much better as allows a better transfer of weight forward. If the ball is deeper, neutral stance is not recommended the player will hit the ball late (behind the front knee). Semi-open stance is quite useful for balls hitting behind the service line but not so close to the base line. Complete open stance is actually a stance of last resort when there is no time place the feet in other way.

    many, many, too many coaches ( or so called coaches ) position the kids in this absurd way- The problem is that coaches within a club for a "untouchable" figure and nobody dear to criticise them. Many coaches ( or called so) didn't care at all to update themselves - What I see from coaches is a disgrace for the tennis movement. I know that there are good coaches out there but they should be the first to fight this situation - The problems are many more ( Do you ever see kids working on footwork? ) - Before do be a coach ( especially with kids ) you are a teacher - It looks like it is enough to have a basket full of balls and "magically" you are a coach. a final note: where the tennis federations are? why don't they go around to check coaches diligence and abilities?
    Where are clubs "Directors" to check the abilities of their coaches? I mean the real abilities not the ones written on the CV where everybody can write almost anything.

    Every ball your feeding is a wide ball lets feed the ball in front of you now.Now you need to teach something new so it will take longer to learn.

  • @AlexanderGr8
    @AlexanderGr8 5 лет назад

    The best way to teach is to start with a neutral stance as its easier to transfer the weight and then you gradually start to hit semi or open stance,otherwise what happens on the the short ball? can always hit more closed if its wide to start with.Sorry dont agree with you however do like your videos.

    • @ldeue4837

      Why is it easier to weight transfer in a neutral stance? what evidence do you have to back this claim up?

      I asked you to prove it because as a tennis professional, I know you are completely wrong...but imagine that another baseless claim spew out on youtube, what a shocker...it's really best to learn what you are talking about before openin your mouth, helps you seem more intelligent.

    • @ldeue4837
      @ldeue4837 5 лет назад

      I haven't insulted anyone just told you the facts about the game of tennis, if you think a stance is the difference between hitting a ball moving forward, you are quite misinformed. Footwork patterns and stances are two completely different elements of the game.
