Elvis made this song his own ! As always the original artists often acknowledged that Elvis did an amazing job with their songs!! Elvis, always humble, would take no credit,
saying that his version was a tribute to them!
He was just so beautiful ,inside & out
& we got to see this in every performance!
No wonder everyone still misses him so much, even today!! Thank God his music is still alive & he will go on forever!
Your reaction is so great! " Angelic voice"
is the perfect description of Elvis' God given talent! Yes ,your emotions demonstrate the way Elvis makes all of us feel ! He sings straight from his soul, right to our souls!
My family & I shared our love for Elvis! They are all gone now , however, when I listen to his music, ,they are right there with me, in a joyous way!
In fact, my sister was my best friend! She was in a coma for 3 1/2 years before I lost her. I played Elvis' music for her when ever I could!
Even in a vegetative state ,she would smile when she heard it!! It helped me understand that she was still in there , somewhere!I Now, I don't know of any other entertainer who is able to achieve this kind of a response!
He was a very spiritual man & each one of us always feels as if he is singing just to us, no matter how many people may be in the room! I start my day with his gospel music! Your words
"pure & honest" are right on target! Thanks for giving us another glimpse of our dear friend! I
    enjoy your reactions
    immensely!

Elvis sang and made that song sound so perfectly. The lyrics, the music and Elvis's voice just draw you in and u can't help but get emotional. Elvis already had a generous heart so it made it sound so much even better. I have loved this song sung by him and Simon and Garfunkel. It's a beautiful song.

Paul Simon wrote the song, Art Garfunkle sang it. Whos' rendition is best is a matter of personal taste. I personally get teared up from Arts' rendition, even still!

    • @stege9979

I'm the very same. Art Garfunkel made a fantastic rendition of the song in Central Park! But this is the version I want to send onto a space rocket to greet new civilizations.
Paul Simon (btw) many times said that this version of his song actually made him sorta religious, and he was not a religious man. Hoping he and Elvis at least get to join the same heaven...don't we all.:)

Elvis presley had a chameleon voice.
A beautiful rich tone, that trails off into a sweet falsetto. A voice like a rich fine red wine. The soul, the depth is magical.
He sweeps you away in the moment. His passion for the music is evident from the first note.
    An icon.

I was 9 or 10 when I watched that concert, I was in love with Elvis, with his god given voice that touched me in everything he sang. this song was amazing then as it is now. Ther will never bve another Elvis. I mowed lawn after lawn just to buy his albums, I own 110 albums, some made before I was born. My faovorite song is "he touched me" I appreciate your channel and I am amazed that someone so young can find the joy of Elvis,, to let him touch your soul. no one has ever toughted my sould like he does. Maybe Donnie sumner of the stamps with his singing of the lighthouse...........amazing. I was 14 when Elvis died and I cried and cried. Your channel brings tears to my eyes.........thnkk you Dani.

I’m glad it brought back some good memories for you. I heard it for the first time with my brother, and I always think of him every time I hear it. He is heaven now. He donated his kidney to me. One of the reasons the backup singers watched Elvis so intently was, as you said, because he was the commander of the stage. Elvis would do different things at different performances so all his backup singers and musicians had to pay close attention to whatever he would do next! I'm enjoying your reactions because you are so demonstrative of your emotions, and you seem so aware of why he was the G.O.A.T.👑

Elvis was definitely at the peak of his powers in 1970 bridge over troubled water from the same year outstanding studio and live this live version you can hear the gospel the soul in his voice along with a small Sweetness in his voice that he displayed so well in the early 60s his best time frame for high melodious notes and you can hear touches of the Opera in his powerful vocals this is definitely a masterpiece vocal he did it again in 1972 but the 1970 version is the best version by far of any version in my opinion other than the 50s and the early sixties 1968 to 1970 in my humble opinion was Elvis's best time frames he definitely turned this particular version into his own when Elvis was at his best vocally physically and his iconic state no one comes close this performance; you can also see starpower showmanship and superhero qualities definitely a performance of a lifetime thank you great video ✌🏼✋🏼✋🏻😎

@@DaniAtkinson fyi, his female background singers, The Sweet Inspirations, were the group who sang on Chain Of Fools by Aretha Franklin. There's a video from 1968 where they're performing live with her, dancing and circling around her. Check it out! Oh, another tidbit of info, Cissy Houston, Whitney Houstons' mother was leader of the group(@1:15, she's the one with the brown hair), but only sang with Elvis for his first Las Vegas engagement in the late summer of 1969. She left the group to spend more time raising Whitney. Here's a link to that video ruclips.net/video/tHeqFxHSVfA/видео.html

I remember sitting in my mother's kitchen on a hot August 16th 1977 listening to Radio Luxembourg playing one Elvis Presley record after another with DJs stating that "The King" was dead. I was shocked that a man whose voice had brought joy, hope and inspiration to billions of people around the world had died. Many in the mainstream media attacked Elvis Presley's character over the years following his death but his fans knew truth would win out: Elvis Presley died a broken man but one whom stayed loyal and true to his artistic vision. I visited Elvis Presley's grave in 1991 to thank him for his music.

It’s so amazing to see your passion for Elvis! I know exactly how you feel. He is a one of a kind gift from God himself never to be replicated or outdone. No one even comes close. There are other great musicians and humanitarians but Elvis is on his own planet. Thank you again for such a wonderful channel. Your emotions to his songs and life are contagious🙏🏼 Blessings to you and keep up
    The great work my friend!🕺🏻🥰

Dani! Exclamation point! That's what I think of you. I agree that you have an old soul. You have understanding and insight far beyond your years. You should be coaching other performers, if you aren't already. I grew up on a Elvis too, and you've helped me appreciate him more, which I didn't think was possible. Big words.

@Dani Atkinson, you articulate many of the things I feel when I listen & watch Elvis. In this one talking about yourself being an “old soul” & very sensitive at a very young age. When I was listening I thought to myself “you could be talking about me.”
    Thank you for sharing, Dani!

I think and feel in a way that Elvis was expressing how he would be with someone who would be in pain. I think his generosity was endless. He just simply had a most pure heart. And most humble. He wanted to help all he could to whomever he could for as long as he was alive and this song was his way of telling his audiences.

Beautiful and touching reaction. To be honest, I was 12 when this song came out in 1970 and never really cared for the way Simon and Garfunkel performed it. So when it went to the top of the charts, I never understood the appeal and felt the song was "overrated". Also never really cared for the various covers done; they either felt too gospel-like (this song never felt like a gospel song to me) or too boring (the singer didn't put the right emotion/passion into the song). But I love Elvis' cover of this song; it had the raw passion and emotion that the other versions, including the original, was lacking to me. And to this day, Elvis' version is still the only version of this song that I really enjoy.

My Mother saw Elvis 2 times in person..she was blessed to have received one of his scarfs he would give to the audience... She was a fan from the very first record in the 50's..sadly she passed in 2002..but I will never forget the day I walked in to see her crying uncontrollably and I asking her what was wrong mama and all she could do was point to our Television set..They were repeatedly announcing.. Elvis Presley dead at age 42.....I then cried with her..My mama too would say so many times..I had an old soul and Although he had the looks..talent and charisma..my mama loved him for his humanity and music..she said when she was lonely..his songs was a friend to her..his song was a brother at times..his gospel songs lead her to Jesus..but she wasnt blind to the drugs etc..she would just say "He was human and we all fall short of the mark".I too was a fan since a child..and remain one to this day..but no other reaction to this song touched me as much as yours has done..you got it.... I think you know now why we loved Elvis so much..and still do..the video was very moving and I too cried to hear Elvis sing "Bridge Over Troubled Water". as this song is a "Go To Song " when I need to feel hope..along with.."IF I Can Dream and You Gave me A Mountain".His song can lift me up or bring a joy to my heart as he sings."Trying To Get To You..or One Night"..His music spans nearly over any issue , mood or just a pick me up I and many fans may need..Thank you for being real...and give your Dad a big shout out for exposing you to his unmatched music, I am thankful my mama did ...God Bless You ..Thank You..XOXO
