When someone like Ian says "I dont have the game to play a blade like this".... who among us does? lol I think it is worth the occasional 3iron shank to be able to look down in the bag and see those beautiful clubs every time you play. I would game these without hesitation!
Couldn’t agree more. Favorite golf moment for me; Pebble Beach, 18th, hit a decent drive, topped my 3 wood, had 210 to the green. End of the day, so the wind had picked up blowing sort of into face and from the left. Flushed my 3 iron to land softly 20 feet past the pin. 2 putt par.
@@mattparsons946 Its funny how we remember those good shots, and are able to block out those push cuts and pull hooks into the trees haha.. I am the same way!
if distance and ball striking aren't an issue, blades are very good for improving your game. Alot of the scare factor is rubbish, if you miss one most of the time its just short
The Museum of Modern Art in New York has a section devoted to product design. Mr. Miura’s work belongs there. You don’t have to be a golfer to appreciate the beauty of his work. Kudo’s to Ian for having the game to do them justice in that demo.
Jack has always been the greatest of all time. His major record alone can attest to that. But he was so much more and is today so much more. The irons have his touch for sure. What a gorgeous set. Would love to have a set just to look at. Miura is a class act. Well done!! Thanks for sharing!
This video brings many memories of JN clubs. In 1976 JN visited Board of Trade Club in Woodbridge and offered duplicate sets of his then current clubs. I still have the set which includes irons 1 through PW and persimmon woods 1,3,5 in the pear shape he played at the time. Proude to own them and glad I kept them
I still have two sets of MacGregor Muirfield irons. The 1-PW set I bought brand new, in spite of playing them for several years they are still in remarkable condition.....I look at them now and can’t believe I was ever able to play them, especially the 1 iron!
I was amazed seeing this video with these clubs! Lockdown ended yesterday in England and I have just come back from hitting balls.....with my old MacGregor Jack Nicklaus Muirfield irons. They look so similar. I only use them to practice with as too much for me to play.
Reminds me of my grandfather's MacGregor Tourneys that I had as my first set. Missing the 7-iron and PW, but my heart broken when I heard they went to the dump.
I’m not sure that I could ever have a set of clubs like this and not play them. It’s almost an injustice to not play what might be the most perfect club ever made.
Only in our dreams Ian thanks to you and Mike sharing this incredible iron reminds me of the finest Samurai Katana such a treat. Even in the video the sound was pure butter! Big Al and you are so lucky. Shout out to Matty miss him dearly. Cheers from NorCal
This 3 iron makes me remember a club that I used to pull out from time to time... My dad had a set of Titleist DCI 990's that he used for years, locked away in his locker was the 1 iron from the set. This quite often found its way into my bag as a junior (for a luagh), would never be in the bag now but the memories are great! Something about this has clearly stuck with me though, because im still playing my 716cb's and love them.
Having played the MB 101s for years, it's amazing to compare the inherent "softness" of feel of the irons to any other manufacturer. The topline and lack of offset offer easy alignment and setup to the ball. The benefit and ease of shaping shots overrides the allure of modern technological length with other manufacturers. Customizing the irons is a necessity to assure optimal feedback. Lastly, it's recommended to have the irons inspected and adjusted annually as the steel is soft and susceptible to changes in lie and loft angle.
Best production by the lads since Matty took his time off. The music wasn't too loud and the sound in the video was pretty much the same volume. Great work lads. Those Miuras are beautiful but it's a shame that almost none of those sets will actually get played. I'd love to see a free agent on tour, like Paul Casey play them.
@@MrGlk he's on a sabbatical while he addresses personal issues. If you go to Matty Blois Insta Page, his fiancee made a post where you can see what's happening.
Ian: "It's not as hard as I thought it would be ..." As a collector and user of retro blades from the 1960's-1990's I have to say that it isn't as hard as you think. Practice with it and don't hold it like it's a rusty grenade. Give me a miss hit 3 iron over a miss hit hybrid anyday. There's guys out there hitting 23 degree 5 irons saying 3 irons are so hard to hit. Buy an old 2 iron and have a play. Great video.
The sound! And that's over the video!! Must be incredible in person. Well struck shots Ian! Thanks lads, and keep up the great work. When will we see behind the scenes in the build shop? .........yo, cue that theme music......cheery-bye!!
Scoring is not the only thing that makes golf fun! Those are gorgeous! I would gladly take a hit on the scorecard to game those irons. Miura should make a special edition 1 iron to commemorate Jack's iconic shot.
I had a great round this weekend... then I see IAN striping the hardest set to hit in golf! lol TXG always brings the best!! #Ian #Mike #Matt best 3 man combo in golf!!
Oh what I would do to have a hit with the Jack Nicklaus limited edition Miura irons. In my opinion Jack Nicklaus is the greatest golfer who has played the game professionally and is such a wonderful human being. I have so much respect for him. I game older Miura CB201's, which btw have the same lofts, and the thought of hitting a ball out of the middle with one of these Jack Nicklaus Miura irons is mouth watering.
OMG, how stunning! Hats off to Mr Nicklaus and Miura-san for producing a work of Art! Can I come in just to polish them? PS Really liked the Intro music and camera work, Great work👍👍
While I fully understand keeping those clubs looking new in a corner of the den, personally, I'd put them in the bag and play them all the time. That's what they were made for. I gig my 50s and 60s collectors guitars all the time and I see those clubs in the same light. Why should I forego the pleasure of playing them only to have the next guy who gets them after me have all the fun?
I had an opportunity to buy the TigerWoods box from a guy who needed cash and got for a 40% reduction. I decided that I will play them but was thinking back and forth if it was a right decision. I like the traditional loft and had similar lofts with my Ben Hogans. So I started practising with the PW and loved it. Then added the 9 iron. Great clubs. This year - I will have the 6--PW in my bag. I will leave the 4 and 5 in the box and in due time just have those two for show. I love the looks of the irons but doubt I ever will be able to play those two irons.
If you can strike it properly (ie. around the middle most times) blades are going to give you most of the performance you will get with any/most designs. I am convinced making sure your get the right shaft is the key. I used S300 DG for ever with blades and cavities, as I got older and lost speed lost distance no matter the head. Recently did a fitting and tried lots of variations, shaft and heads, and the thing that made the difference was the shaft, a good strike with a blade and a cavity was a great shot with the right shaft. A bad strike with a blade and cavity with the same shaft was still a bad result. Strike is king, and the shaft is the key.....👍 In my experience once you get the right shaft, you will get more feel and distance consistency with a solid blade and gradually loose that as you move from blade to forged cavity to cast cavity.......
I'd be tempted to take them out if I had them. Beautiful looking and sounding and worth the occasional shank/poor strike. Would you review the Miura MB 101s? Which Miura does Ian play? Great video. Thank you.
My first set of full size clubs was a box set of Jack Nicklaus Golden Bears. They were terrible by most standards, graphite shafts through the whole set(bought them in 2000). I still have them somewhere.
Love the video guys! Questions regarding those and other blades: in terms of forgiveness, at what point does loft become more of a factor than MOI, in terms of offering forgiveness? Like does more loft offer more forgiveness than just MOI in shorter irons?
When someone like Ian says "I dont have the game to play a blade like this".... who among us does? lol I think it is worth the occasional 3iron shank to be able to look down in the bag and see those beautiful clubs every time you play. I would game these without hesitation!

Ian plays the TC-201s. IIRC, Mikey plays the MC-501s. Ian said he preferred the 201s largely because they had less offset than the 501s.
Awesome video ! Those irons are amazing 🤩
Ian when u get to play Augusta gotta play these irons.
Jack blades vs Tiger blades head to head!
With those two names attached to a product, anything less than perfection would be an injustice.
Sound phenomenal
Hope all is well with the both of you, as well as Matty! Love the content!

Is a bloopers/out-takes video to follow, where you thin the three iron and lose all feeling in your fingers, Ian?
Back in the 80s - MacGregor did a series like this. ONLY Jack can hit them.

For what those are, not a bad price at all!!! Clubs in that bracket are in a class all by themselves. 15 years those will be worth 20k used!

Does the same box get passed around to all of the reactors?
I'm surprised the set doesn't go down to 1 iron as it was Jack's favorite club
exact same as mb101 or what's the difference beside the logo?
Nice Ian.
Looks very similar with Miura MB-5003

Can you guys test the Cobra RF Rev 33 or RF Fordged MB?
I think it's kinda funny how they still put the cheap golf pride grips on it
They went for the vintage look. MCC4 would look so out of place on these clubs
What ball did you use during testing? @txg
