It's day 18!!! Have you had Savory Oatmeal before? Reminds me of Congee...😝

    • @CrazzyLaddy69
      @CrazzyLaddy69 6 лет назад

Honeysuckle I have, feel in love with savory oatmeal the first time I had it. I just cook up my oatmeal add some salt n pep. Some spinach with green onion. Topped off with a easy over egg. But I do cheat a little bit, I like to drizzle a little maple syrup over the top. Just remindeds me of when my pancake syrup mixes with my egg and bacon. 😊

    • @jdagups

Are you able to make it and heat it the next day?

    • @CrazzyLaddy69
      @CrazzyLaddy69 6 лет назад +2

The oatmeal ya, but I feel the egg would be rubbery. You can always throw the pre-made oatmeal in the microwave and while you're waiting for it to heat up fry the egg up.

This is sounding soooo good! I used be a sweet breakfast person until I was diagnosed with Adrenal Insufficiency. Now I’m all about the savory. Guilty confession, I eat ramen/soup for breakfast almost everyday. But this, what a great way to use oatmeal and get a jumpstart on your veggies for the day. Thanks!!
And about you little munchkin. All three of my kids (a singleton and twins) would have really rough sleeping nights if they didn’t stay on their nap and bedtime schedule. That said, life gets busy, so when it got to be an especially rough day, I would put them to bed early. It always seemed so contradictory, but they would sleep better during the night and even sleep later into the morning. A simple thing to try to see if it helps. Good luck ;)

Yep, I'm one of those whom prefer savory breakfasts over sweet ones. I have a much more difficult time eating sweet, cold stuff in the morning. My body craves savory protein. But this definitely will do the trick! Erisy at the end is so awwww!!!

I work in child development and to me it sounds like your kiddo is having a wonder week - it's exactly what you said about her having a "leap". When kids have a wonder week where they're making a big developmental stride it can really disrupt their sleep Bc their little brains are working over time! Also, it can be helpful (but also frustrating lol) to remember that her sleep schedule might/is likely to change all the time as she hits developmental milestones. Hang in there mama!

  • @Mangga14

Our babies are born just a few weeks apart! My baby just went through that stage and is now getting over it. I was reading about it and people say that it's normal for their sleep schedule to be completely off at this age; normally it means they are going through a developmental milestone (trying to stand, trying to crawl, etc.) so they are distracted and not focusing on sleeping. Once they reach whateber that milestone is, they'll sleep like normal again. Mine went through that stage and got over it. Yours will too! ❤

You're amazing, mama! I'm a 2-time long term breastfeeding mom and my daughters are now 5 & 9 (nursed for 2 years each). Sounds like your little miss is in a growth spurt. Their schedules always go all chaotic during those times! You're doing amazing. It may take 2-3 weeks during her spurts for things to settle out. She picks up on your energy more than anything so just stay upbeat and encouraging like you were with her yesterday and she'll feel comfy again and be ready to nap for you in a couple more weeks (or less) after her growth spurt. Keep up your wonderful mommying, you're the best :)

it Has happened to my baby more than once. and what doctors said is that when something big and new is happening in the baby's life they keep processing it in their sleep. for example standing up, crawling, walking, learning something that is out of the normal of being a baby who eats and sleep... it doesn't last so long give her another week :)

I been doing savory for years using steel cut oats because of the mouthfeel and with the consistency of jook or congee.
Sometimes use leftover Costco chicken meat with using Choi sum and Chinese parsley or cilantro. Basically use whatever in my refrigerator that makes sense. Great video showing the versatility of oatmeal!

In Vietnam, congee is associated with savoury. We cook congee in bone to bring out the flavour, serve it with pepper, chilli flake, mussels, minced pork, even eels.
Oat gives the texture resembling to congee, and always remind me of the savoury experience. So as a Vietnamese student being abroad i occasionally cook savoury oat/congee to “make myself at home”

Hi. My oldest daughter did not slept through the night until she was 2 years old, nothing helped, now that that she is older (9 years old), she is quite active and smart does not like to sleep she finds it boring. My youngest daughter slept through the night when she was one week old, and she is a sleepy monster haha. What I meant with this, is that it depends a lot on your child's personality, it helps cutting the naps shorter and keeping her more active, maybe she has to much energy, maybe you can try feeding her with, we call it in Ecuador machica, is something that makes it thicher so they are more full and less likely to wake up. Try everything until you find something that works for your child. Each one is so different it takes time to find out what works best. Great video!

You’re doing a great job! My oldest daughter (now 2 and a half) has always been the worst sleeper and she STILL gives me a harder time some nights than my 2nd (4 months old) ever has 😭 I have tried EVERYTHING with her. The best (and sometimes most annoying lol) advice I have been given is to remind myself that one day I will miss this. And I actually do miss some of those late nights or super early drives to Starbucks and the park at 4:30am because I gave up on trying to get her back to sleep 😂 I can laugh now but I totally know what it’s like to be IN it 😫😫😫 you’re doing great and one day you will miss this!! 💗💗💗

    Hello from japan~
In my country oatmeal isn’t a common ingredient(at least from my experience) so I wasn’t sure how to cook it. I also prefer savory foods to sweet ones, so this tutorial helped me a lot! Luckily All the other ingredients are replaceable with common Japanese ingredients like mushroom and kale, so I’ll be making this as soon as I get the package of oat meal. English is very easy to hear too.

Leap, growth spurt, teething. I find with Leaps and growth spurts it never really goes longer then a week for me. Teething is another story some kids are great some not so much. It differs from baby to baby, but what we do is try to stick to what we have been doing so baby forms some sleep/nap association. eg milk before nap time, always napping in the crib in the same place.. but we also take heed from some of his cues, like dropping naps from every 2 hours when he was much smaller, to 2 naps a day, to now transitioning to 1 nap a day at 16.5 months.
There was a point in time when we were so frustrated trying to get him to just lie down instead of “exploring” his crib.. eventually we decided you know what if you’re not napping, mummy/daddy’s gonna nap! So we laid down on the floor next to the crib closed our eyes and “ignored” his invites to play or “chat”.. and he laid down by himself and was asleep within 10mins.
There were days when he got away with not taking his pm nap tho... we ended up with a cranky monster by evening 😅

I love your videos! I have a baby close in age too and he went through the same thing! It could be a number of things, it could be a developmental milestone, teething or in my case my son was trying to drop a nap and went from 3-4 naps a day to 1-2 and he would sleep more soundly through the night! I hope this helps.

Totally bring your baby on filming again! I have a 9 month baby too (and a 5-year old), so I relate to you when you hold the baby in one hand and cook with another! Go mommy! :) And as for slipping - you said she might be teething, by doctor suggested a medicine to lower the inflamation and calm down the baby at night, maybe yours can suggest a remedy too? If not, then your little one just needs a lot of momy love right now! Stay strong and cuddle with your baby ;)

This looks really good. I just recently come across the idea of savory oatmeal. I've always had sweet oatmeal since I was a child, so this is REALLY new for me.
Could you do something with cream of wheat (or farina) and grits? I've always had them as savory, but I've noticed lately that there are sweet versions of them, which I can't seem to wrap my head around. Just some ideas on making them healthier, be they sweet or savory.
And your baby is absolutely adorable!!

Armenians eat a savory oatmeal type of thing too called Harissa! It's like a cross between oatmeal and congee. It's made from cracked wheat and chicken (my fam used to make it with leftover turkey after Thanksgiving/Christmas)! Is it possible to make it the day before? I don't think I'll have time to cook this early in the morning.

My 4 year old child doesn’t nap and hasn’t napped since she was about 2. It’s brutal, but I prefer her to sleep at night. Sometimes that occasional nap causes her to stay up until midnight. Drives me nutty but we get through.

Hi I was wondering how many months is your baby? I work in Infant care and most of the time babies do have a harder time sleeping when it comes to teething.

My mom told me that when I was a baby, she would stay on a very strict schedule and had me feed for half an hour, then play for half an hour, then sleep for two hours. Then, once I woke up, she would feed me for half an hour, play for half an hour, and have me sleep for two hours. This cycle happened all day long until bedtime. I would usually sleep the whole night! :) Great recipe by the way, I looove savory oats!

Also, my mom told me that at very late at night, at 11:00, she would feed me even if I was asleep. Then, I would sleep soundly because of being full.

Never had it this way. But growing up mom would make sweeten oatmeal and I always ate it with a boiled egg inside of it. I thought I was the only one who ate oatmeal and eggs. Well sweet oatmeal lol
I so wanna try this. Just Love your energy and I hope all goes well with the baby.

Great recipe, but I can't do kale. Might have to sub it out for mustard greens or spinach.

You should definitely make a congee dish!

Thanks for the recipe! The mushroom and kale idea is awesome. I don’t really care for sweet breakfasts either and the hubby is wanting to eat healthier so this is something to help get him started. Since he HATES eggs with a passion I may use a hollandaise sauce to disguise them. He’ll never know it’s egg. :)

In Vietnam, we only eat sweet food as desserts and snacks so sweet breakfast sound weird and honestly, nasty for me, sorry for that. I always eat instant oatmeal, no seasonning but with a tiny bit of traditional Vietnamese salted fish or shrimp, or a tiny bit of dried fish, also traditionally made, and some fresh veggies grown in my backyard. If i feel even lazier than i already am lol, i’ll eat the oatmeal with a bit of fish sauce. It may be weird for y’all but i swear it is delicious

it's probably a growth spurt or they go in and out of cutting naps/ fighting them. Just get into a routine of consistent bedtime and naptime and adjust when you need to. more than likely you are doing everything you need to, it's probably just a stage :)

Was thinking you seemed a bit more flustered or lost these last few videos. Hope things get back on track soon. No matter what you gotta love that adorable kid!! As far as breakfast (as well as desserts, though not healthy living) I personally really love fruit based dishes. Nothing better than a variety of parfaits. Also, my brother drinks a lot of protein powder and I've been trying to convince him to put it in a smoothie but he doesn't like banana. A green smoothie and other smoothies for breakfast might be just the thing. Any suggestions for using protein powder in them (mostly choc but vanilla too?)

Great recipe! I'm down for having savory oatmeal, I think here in the states we are more prone to sweet breakfasts for whatever reason lol.
For your baby girl I'd say try to keep her as active as possible during the hours that you don't want her to sleep so that it'll help her be a bit tuckered out for the time that you do want her to sleep.
