- In today’s video I am unboxing the Grand Seiko SBGP001 and giving my thoughts. I’m not sure if I’m going to keep it so let me know what you think. Grand Seiko is a great brand, and this Heritage Quartz model is a beautiful example.

I have the sbgv205 variant which is basically the same aesthetically but with the 9F82 movement (no quick hour adjustment). I am surprised when you say the bracelet does not feel solid or sturdy; the bracelet on mine is lovely. Despite not having a micro-adjustment it fits very snug on my ~6.5 inch wrist. I picked a brand new piece from my AD for ~2300 usd here in India.
It is high quality, it just didn’t seem to compare to those of modern Rolex that I have felt. I realize that is a hard comparison to make for any brand, but it is a fairly expensive watch so I felt the comparison wasn’t that crazy. It is a very nice bracelet compared to many others.
@@JackOnWristit’s a silly comparison and you’re biased. There isn’t a Rolex that even comes close to 3k and Rolex is a marketing company making watches imho. People for some reason are blinded by Rolex which I don’t understand. Yeah there are some nice vintage ones but GS is up there in finishing
What do you think about bracelet after these years of ownership?
Please answer, i am considering to buy one for my father as a gift on his 60th anniversary
Seen every review on youtube from watchfinder, watchbox and everything, no one mentioned the flimsy bracelet, glad you did, bracelet really important and its a dealbreaker for me
It’s a great bracelet. It holds up well. No microadjust but super high quality
What are you on about the bracelet? It’s one of the best ones available under 10k.
I was underwhelmed by the heft but loved the finishing. I have a different GS now and love the bracelet. My new one is an older model so maybe that has something to do with it.
@@JackOnWrist I can see how this could be the case. For some reason many people associate the heft with the quality. Same happens in luxury fountain pens I’m also collecting. Of course heft has nothing to do with the quality.
Hi
What is making you change your mind regarding this watch? I believe it all depends on if you want a mechanical or one of the ( if not the ) top quartz movement.I have owned my 9f quartz with the champagne dial for 6 years and the accuracy is unbelievable at approx 1 second a year.
To really appreciate the quality of both the dial finishing and the watch itself, you need to take the watch outside in sunlight to see the craftsmanship
My only criticism is that the bracelet has little adjustment apart from half links .I have a small collection of watches and the Grand Seiko is the one I will never sell it is that good.
Thanks for reading
Dave
Thank you for the comment. My biggest issue is the bracelet. It feels a little less high quality compared to others I have felt, and no micro adjust. I love the 9f and it’s a movement I am looking to buy again soon, so that’s not the issue. It’s a really nice watch but I was not a huge fan of the bracelet.
Cheers
I hesitate a lot between this one and the blue one…can’t decide!! Anyone with a pros and cons of each?
Are you talking about the blue dial version?
same here i believe sbgp005? id go with this version personally
it's nice.
You bought a watch? That's a question, is it supposed to be answered? If so the answer is "yes you did"!
I love the unboxing video, where did you even get the money to buy that though?
I sold the seamaster I had previously to get this because it was cheaper, but even with the cheaper price I still want to save more money
Ohh makes sense well enjoy your Grand Seiko mate.
@@ryderflips7287 I appreciate the comments and support my friend
GS put all the money into the movements, dials and finishing. Bracelets are a bit of an afterthought. They do need to improve the bracelets but that means prices will go up.
When you have hand assembled, hand finished dials, indices, and mad dials like the snowflake all for the price of an entry level Omega dive watch something has to give, and that something is the bracelets.
Mate I'm assuming by omega entry level diver you are talking about seamaster 300 SS. In terms of heritage, brand recognition, bracelet, clasp, materials as in ceramics and movement it destroys this grand seiko and the first few points any GS. Grand seiko have some nice dials and some different and nice movements but let's not pretend they are something they are not. The bracelets, clasps, no micro adjusts etc in unacceptable so that's a £2500 for a quartz watch
For gods sake take the plastic off
Cannot return it if the plastic is off... did you pay attention?
Word of advice. Most over hyped watches fall short of ones expectations. Stay in the hobby and find what really makes you tick.
That’s some great advice right there. Thanks for the support!
Who says they are over hyped? Even the entry level ones with Quartz movements are stunning watches. Whilst the bracelets aren’t the best they aren’t bad, Christ he has dismissed the bracelet before even putting the watch on his wrist.
I think bracelet could be compromised . The dial and finishing is out of this world really
Dial and bracelet are beyond anything i’ve ever seen in person. Bracelet could be better but I actually just got a SBGT035 and I am much more pleased with the bracelet.
What’d you pay?
2050 with box, papers, and 2.5 years left on factory warranty
@@JackOnWrist very interesting. I was on a site today (watch box) they’re asking 2750 I offered 2k and they came back at 2500. I was also concerned about the bracelet being ‘cheap’ as it looks like a bracelet I had on a $100 Seiko. Did you wind up keeping it?
@@michaelsullivan9898 I ended up returning it. Partly because I want to save money at the moment, but partly because of the bracelet. I love a good quality bracelet but this one feels like one you would get on a 1000 seiko. Maybe not as cheap as a seiko 5 or anything but not anywhere near current Rolex or Omega levels. Amazingly beautiful though, would probably be my favorite dial and looks i’ve ever seen in person.
What a load of shit saying this feels like a regular Seiko bracelet🤣 I had the 9800 snowmelt highbeat on my wrist which has the exact same bracelet and it didn’t feel like shit at all. Even the quartz variants feel
Hefty both case and bracelet. This kid is clueless and lost on his own review
I apologize but my opinion is my opinion. If it helps at all i’ve owned 4 9F quartz Grand Seikos, as well as modern and vintage examples from Omega, Rolex, and Cartier. I’ve had lots of experiences with different watches and at the time of this review I thought the bracelet felt light. It is what it is.
@@JackOnWrist well feeling light is not the same as feeling like a regular Seiko. Also weight is not something subjective. I also
Fail to understand how this feels cheap. Take a Breitling colt or avenger on a bracelet and it feels more heavy sure, much more heavy borderline too heavy to wear daily. The GS quartz feel nearly
The same overall as the spring drive and high beats. Just well Balanced not light at all. Feeling light is t the same as being light. Put them on a scale to know what I’m saying. Much heavier than let’s say a Rolex perpetual oyster My vintage omega is
Much lighter since the bracelet is t solid like on the GS
I appreciate your comment. I think this comes down to personal preference. I personally appreciate a heftier and weighty bracelet more than a lighter one. I will fully admit that quality and weight are not mutually exclusive. Many bracelets can be heavy and not that high quality. In the case of this watch, I recall the heft not being the same as the other Grand Seiko models I owned, which led to my slight dislike of that aspect of this watch.
@@JackOnWrist what I find pretty odd is most GS from the same generation have the same bracelets and this watch weighs around 140 grams which isn’t light. A 44mm
Breitling colt around 190. I think it’s just the balance of watch/bracelet and if I’m
Not wrong the bracelet is 19mm
This is no kind of review. Click bait from a time waster.
thank you for your feedback
@@JackOnWrist Thanks for the gracious acknowledgement...
Why bother writting anything at all, you obviously have a lot of problems but don't bring other people into your negativity
