Marketing by Rolex is and has been everywhere for decades. Finish, name and movement of GS isn't pedestrian like Rolex. Grand Seiko over Rolex for me !

Rolex was always a marketing company that sold watches. Only in 2004 did Rolex become an inhouse movement and watch manufacturer. Grand Seiko all the way.
I have many older Seiko's in my collection. Mainly 1980's However I want a Seiko Astron as my every day watch, & a Grand Seiko spring drive for my special occasion watch.
I’m really torn between this and the 009 which has a bit friendlier case to scratching

I recently got my first GS (SBGN009) and what a watch. A friend of mine got the same watch you have and that one is also exceptional. My 009 is a quartz GMT with a different case and dial but in many ways similar to the one from your video. Best value high end watches on the market period. Especially second hand, I got mine for $2000 in mint condition with no scratches. The finishing on GS is like no other, i catch myself staring at the watch for too long. Clasps could use some micro adjust but thats it. Otherwise perfect watches

@@ChrisMarshall1978007 cant go wrong with GS especially entry and mid level. On the higher end bracelets and clasps can be a bit underwhelming for the price but for under 5k👍
You must be confused since the sbgp009 isn’t a gmt. The only quartz gmt with a champagne dial is the sbgn011 and has a blue gmt dial

This was my first GS and it is incredible. The accuracy, the finishing, the seemingly simple dial…it’s great. It’s easily a keeper

I have a quartz GS. Blue dial sea of clouds Sbgp017. Same case and band. Fits great. Stunning watch. GS does qtz superbly.

I have a snowflake and an sbgn003, love them both. People love to trash GS bracelets but both of my GS have better finished bracelets than my Tudor BB58. They're much more comfortable, the BB58 feels very sharp in comparison

I have the SBGA283 with the champagne dial. Gorgeous watch and is to me, better than a Rolex.
You should have gotten a spring drive. Best movement on any automatic watch. Puts Rolex to shame. And yes I own several Rolex watches.

@@ChrisMarshall1978007 Maybe so, for not much more you could have had a spring drive. In my opinion you could have gotten almost the same watch brand new, same color, same style with a spring drive that would last a lifetime.

Great taste Sir ! wear it in good health , a vintage 5513 5512 no date sub look even better on you . The only seiko I might be interested in is the vintage GS or KS with acrylic crystal and sword hands .

I have an 8 inch wrist and a lot of my pieces are 36mm. No issues.
theres a lot of brands who produces better quality pieces then what Rolex does.
