restedlife.com...
Hello everyone:
I'm Juan with www.restedlife.com
I purchased the ResMed AirTouch F20 about 6 months ago after I noticed my previous mask wasn't sealing as well as it used to.
So far, this has been a great mask and truly unique due to its memory foam cushion. However, it does have a few drawbacks that you can find out about in the video.
Being a long time CPAP patient myself and knowing how difficult it can be to find a mask that works, I've decided to prepare this video review of the ResMed AirTouch F20 to help others out there learn whether this mask is right for them.
In this review you'll learn:
- The pros and cons of the AirTouch F20
- My favorite features from this mask
- My biggest issues with the Resmed AirTouch F20
- A comparison with the AirFit F20
- Close up demonstration of how to fit the mask
- What the mask sounds like
- What the mask looks like with the CPAP machine turned on
- Other recommendations and more!
Please leave a comment below if you have any questions at all about my Resmed AirTouch F20 Review or if you have used this CPAP mask and would like to contribute anything to viewers.

Thank you.. I was at the company's you tube and got no instruction as to how to replace the mask. You need to show the separation of the two parts of the mask a lot slower for us seniors ... I struggled, and finally was able to remove the parts. thank you!!!! I am saving this video.
I have used the memory foam mask for almost a year and very happy with it. Cleaning it was an issue but I started using the mask wipes and drying the foam with a tissue.
You did a very detailed review, with good close up shots and understandable audio. Thank you.
Very good review! I have this mask. Size M. I was doing very well for 2/3 weeks then got a red sore on my nose. It’s just wouldn’t go away until I applied cortisone cream. I then bought the size L which rested up higher on my nose. But I got some leaks ( just slightly) around the corners of my mouth. The size M moved a bit when I open my mouth to breath as I get sinus blockage…
I have a F&P Vitera size L which feels good and it’s easy to breathe with, but it always leaks. It leaks around the nose and under my chin.
I mention these things as I believe it’s SO important to choose the right mask!
I am back with the size M F20 silicone mask tonight. I think the next thing is to get the memory foam. However, I’m still slightly undecided regarding the size. Soo I’m going to my sleep clinician tomorrow. She often won’t listen to me but I’ll try..
in conclusion, I got the best results with this F20 size M mask. My apnea’s went down from 4/5 to 1.7 and 2.4 and had zero leaks in the my air app.
Keep up the excellent work my friend!
6 months dude they say you should change it every month I've been using it for about a year and the pamper sensitive wipes, you did a great job going over this mask.
I've had good luck with the Pampers Sensitives, but I find they shed more lint than CPAP wipes, not a major problem, but sometimes my nose itches when I'm running the mask-fit tool prior to sleeping.
Memory foam is absorbent, how does a wipe remove absorbed sweat and droll?
this mask was trash for me, only lasts me a few weeks before it starts leaking ridiculously and i have to have it so tight that it blocks my nose
Nice review I have just changed to this mask but the foam only lasted 1 week, bridge of the nose foam split and detached from silicone.
Gee that’s poor. I hope they give you another one for free….
I've had about 4 of these masks. I agree they are more comfortable with the memory foam. However - they do not last as long as just a silcone mask will. I like to extend my purchases to the longest time I can get away with (this stuff is expensive) - and the memory breaks away at the bridge of nose - I get max 3 months (and that's still putting up with the foam splitting apart). Then it leaks bad. Also - if you drool at all (hey - don't judge - it happens) then the memory gets wet and doesn't form the proper seal. Overall, I have kept coming back to it. I LOVE the headgear the most with the magnet clips, and the fit. But the memory foam needs some addressing to improve. They're on the right track - as it's really is quite more comfortable. Hope they improve! (or lower the cost of replacements) That's my 2 cents.
Yes, the drool part is a problem, but two things have helped me: first, rinsing thoroughly with a non-alcoholic mouthwash a couple of times as the last thing I do before putting on the mask, and second, adjusting the foam beneath the lower lip such that it helps seal the corners of my mouth. Everyone's mouth is shaped differently and some nights might have more tossing and turning than others, but getting that foam to help keep the mouth closed more often than not minimizes the problem of the foam becoming soiled. Also, I immediately clean with a CPAP wipe when waking up and focusing on the corners of the mouth if necessary.
One thing I noticed is that once I turn on the air the cushion fills up and then I have to pull the top away from my not to reset it. If not the cushion isn’t sitting right and it’s all smushed. A lot of trial and error but found this really helps.
I’ve been using this mask for about 6 weeks, previously I was using the F10 which by the way made my nose itch a lot. At the beginning this mask was fine but for the last two weeks of the month (the supplier didn’t send me a replaceable cushion) this mask was not fitting and also the part of the memory foam that goes over the nose bridge ripped right in the middle. The filtering air was so noisy and for two weeks I was as not able to get a full night sleep. Now I’ve received two cushions for this month and for some reason I wake up with deep marks in my face and on my neck underneath the ears. It must be too tight but if I don’t tight them as I move my face on the pillow the air filters out the mask sides and makes a horrible noise; so that I have to adjust the head gear very tight so the mask remains close to my face and seals the air in. Thank you very much for your video.
Question i’ve used the Airsense P10 for years now since I started using a cpap, it’s the very small one that only goes in the nasal passages, will switching to a full face mask be very difficult to get used to? Or maybe even possibly be a more comfortable and easy transition?. thank you
Very helpful review. Appreciate the different views of the mask so that I can see my mask is fitted up correctly. Thanks again great video.
Where do you get the swivel joint
How do you attached the oxygen pipe from the oxygen concentrator? I have to use it with bipap
I have the same mask and I love it ,the only thing i notice for me personally ,it felt a little bit warm around my nose compared too the regular silicon which is nice and cool.,by the way the memory foam you need too replace once a month not keep on for 6 months and see how long its last.If you have sleep apnea you should already be on a prescribed plan with your doctor so you should be able too get new masks atleast 2 new ones every month.
Do you find the foam pinching your nose and partially shutting it? I do, but I haven't found a solution. If they made the bridge of the nose any wider, it would impinge on the corners of my eyes. Great cushion, though.
David Dave same problem here, it sucks
How to attach replacement mask?
Thank you. Your review was very clear. First time using a CPAP.
I use the cpap now and have the memory foam F20. However, I got the
nose bruising and
bleeding. My
husband suggested using moleskin
across my nose like
you would for your
heels breaking in
new shoes. That
has helped tremendously. Still have a few leaks and the noise, but I
have a fan and cotton in the ears to
drown out the
noise.
I agree have had severe sleep apnea for 24 years first mask that has not leaked still makes a mark.on my nose

I’m surprised you didn’t mention how it works with facial hair. I’m just starting out. I tried two nose-only masks and had terrible results. I am trying the AirTouch F20 for the first time tonight. It was recommended in part because it handles facial hair well.
I just got an brand new F20 with their the new "quiet elbow" for the F20. I love it. Most of it. But I refuse to use it until Resmed can convince me that rebreathing my exhalated air is ok. It is apparent, to me at least, that the new quiet elbow "muffler" does its quieting by almost totally eliminating any air escape. Instead, exhaling causes my mask to overinflate as my breathe flows backwards into the tube! There is no check valve. I honestly can't figure out how exhaling could possibly work. And, in my experience, it doesn't. I'm not comfortable rebreathing my own hot air over and over. And it hard to exhale against the pressure! There is a feature on the Resmed Airset 10 called "exhaust pressure relief", but I don't see any evidence of that doing anything to help. Despite three calls to Resmed and a visit to my supplier I couldn't get a straight answer- is something wrong with my equipment, or is it working as designed. Someone told me that you breath out the side holes after the flaps act as a check valve. They don't. Instead they keep the side holes closed. Maybe they intended that the flaps should flip down which would both open the side ports and act as a check valve - making it both easier to exhale and preventing exhaling down the tube. One told me that air exits around the elbow. Maybe the old elbow did, but Since the newer "muffler" restricts air so much, your mask inflates and either leaks, or you exhale your USED air - through the full pressure back into the hose - which you breathe in on the next breath. This doesn't seem safe to me. Especially when the Resmed people told me it absolutely didn't work that way - it'd be bad to rebreathe. They also told me they've received other complaints that it's hard to exhale using the new elbow. They then suddenly changed their tune and said I was the first person having issues, their testing says it's safe, and it's OK to rebreathe your air. And the fact that the flaps occasionally make such a loud clicking noise that they wake me, I guess that's normal too. Hmmm. Who to believe?
I swapped my mask to another brand. This one has an obvious exhalation port and a silent, but effective check valve ensuring I don't breath into the tube.
The first time I slept with the newer mask was the first time in many years that I've slept through the night without waking even once.
If Resmed redesigns the "new quiet elbow" in some way that allows comfortable exhalation without recycling your breath, I'll go back to it.
Until they fix the mask and the Airset 10 "EPR" mode - or at least get their story straight I, personally won't use it.
If anyone thinks what I'm describing is "ok", or they think "it's dangerous and should be redesigned and recalled", please comment.
Which full facemask did you swap to?
What mask did u switch to?
I don't feel like the holes for the air escape are substantially different than the ones on comparative masks.
Please and please which brand did you change to? Please reply?
Very good video. I have a RezMed AirSense 10 machine, but I have a Fisher & Paykel mask with silicon.....It seems to fit a little too small for a large size.
It also has a lot of leakage. along with redness on both sides of my nose in the morning. Your video just gave me some hope. Thanks so much....I've got to try it.
If I have any other problems I'll look for any other videos you might have. Thanks again!
I have a F&P Vitera size L which is comfortable and it’s easier to breathe and exhale. But I have leaking during the night and get woken up… I find it easier to breathe through my nose. I have the F20 size M which is nice and snug. It reduced my events and I got zero leaks. Then tried a size L F20 then got a few leaks, but a red Mark all around my face. I’ve since returned third to the eBay seller. Maybe it was second hand? Or the silicone was out of its useful date?
Size of the mask can be critical in my opinion.
I am between sizes. The small is comfortable under my eyes but i feel it is short on my chin. The large fits me well except it is annoying up by my eyes. It feels to far up and tge bottom is comfortable on my chin. What do you think. Which size should I wear? 5/7/24 11:20 am.
I’m on day two of this mask and it’s hurting my nose. I also don’t have memory foam. They gave me a disposable mask cushion.
All mask cushions are disposable, you’re supposed to have at least two of them for the month if not three. What they call mask cushions I call it “the mask”. Why? Because when you take this mask cushion out of the “frame” it looks like it’s the mask (disposable) and the frame looks like....just that a mask frame. I hope you understood me.
Great stuff!!!
Say I bought the airtouch, but I didn't want to keep buying replacement foam coverings. Can I just remove the foam and use it like that or would I need to buy the silicone mask?
QUESTION: how your face looks likea after 8 hours using the mask (AirTouch)? Any picture/video about that?
Hi I have a problem on f20 mask it masking too much noise when the pressure reach 18. Can some some give me some suggestion ? I have saw somebody video said different mask with different air pressure making different noise .
My pressure is variable from 12-16 and it’s noisy!
How do I know what size to get
Could you pleasw show more info in chznging out tge mask? It wwnt too fast.
I typically have to use a nasal mask for leaks, I’d LOVE for this to work so I could get away from that dang chin strap. My numbers usually run around 1-3 with the nasal, but jump up using the air fit ☹️
How do you replace the cushion to the head gear.
I change the mask every month or three weeks if I can get my supplier to allow.
i would lke to know if your mask can fit anykind of machine like myself i a have a philip machien. and one of my friend by the machine resmed and he had with it the tube can put more air its a heating tube is it possible to fit may philip airstream
u mentioned in the video a way to take care of the nosebruises that we may get even wearing the F20 AirTouch cush. but i don't see the link to that. can u help
How to get the hose off the elbow?
My new f20 cushion will not snap into the attachment
Hi there, What kind of cpap mask are u using now so I can have an idea what to use in the near future??? Is that thesame one???
My F20 quiet vent flaps are not opening when I exhale. Machine on closes
the flaps so no air leaves the mask or hose. When I exhale it forces
the quiet vents closed again, more positive pressure. So in other words I
am breathing in my exhausted air all the time. I called Resmed which
was ZERO help in this life threatening matter. Can you assist please?
That sounds terrible! I wonder if mine is working properly? In the mornings I can’t wake up and I feel like I’m coming out of an anaesthetic!
@@michaelsmith697 Me too/ I feel groggy and disoriented. Told doctor, he's not interested.
How often i clean the Maske
I read the user guide for the airtouch 20 and it says that its recommended to change the cushions monthly. I'm surprised yours lasted 6 months.
Been using mine for 2 months and so far no problemo. I do have a spare and switch back and forth every 2 weeks.
What size is ur mask?
How do you replace the memory foam only?
Can the AirTouch F20 be cleaned in a SoClean Cpap machine?
Good question. My doctor recently ordered the Air Touch F20 and I should receive it in a couple of weeks. I also have a SoClean2. Will the SoClean2 cause disintegration of the memory foam over time?
I clean my F20 in a SoClean machine. I remove the straps and place the mask into the SoClean with the arms downward and hose connection facing up. Fiddle with it and you'll figure it out like I did. I received my F20 yesterday.
Resmed doesn't recommend using the cushion in the so clean since it will cause it to deteriorate faster.
This is my first time using this mask. Just got it in the mail. Could you please go just a little slower when showing how the head gear goes together and how it actually goes on the face and head?
This video was very helpful to me, I use that mask and was having trouble with leakage all the time. Now I will do what you suggested I’ll let you know. Thankyou.
i like the airvfit 10 it is easy too use to put on is simple adjust is also easy i donot like the magnetic head gear it is a pain in the butt
Thanks
how much
I love mine!
Please do a video showing the machine you use .
How often do you get a new mask ?
Please review the AirFit F30 and compare with this AirTouch.
I tried that. Really tried.. but I got heaps of leaks around the nose area and it was difficult to breathe through the nose. I also got lots of itchiness.
I've just been given one of these (3 days ago) and the bridge of my nose is degrading badly with sores, any advice gratefully received, if I loosen it can't get the seal test to pass
my doctor suggested phillips dreamwear full face mask which sits under the nose instead of over the bridge. check out the reviews, it may solve those issues for you
@@karinstasiowski7025 thanks Karin, I now have one and it does indeed do the job 👍
I got a big red sore on my nose too.. it’s gone now after using cortisone cream. Now I have a white mark in my nose and I little bump… never a dull moment..
@@stephenfogerty9315 does it seal under the nose properly? I tried the Resmed F30 and got leaks galore and itchy nostrils….
@@michaelsmith697 I've stopped using it mate, wasn't helping my symptoms and too intrusive to use permanently
Why are you wearing earphones when doing a video?
Steve, his ear phones include a microphone so he can be heard more clearly.
Very annoying. !

Do you have any leaking issues with your goatee?
I have a goatee and no leaking issues. I tried every mask that Resmed makes and they all leaked around my goatee, great mask
Dave Waters Thanks
I have a full face beard and this seals perfectly, no issues, but again, I have it a little tight and love my cpap and the quality of sleep, so I have no complaints.
If you drool, you can’t wash the foam! I use the silicone.
If this mask is so good wy it's have so many bad reviews?
Why are you wearing ear buds while doing this video ?
For the microphone 😉

This mask tried to kill me! The mask doesn’t allow enough airflow to rid itself of exhaled CO2. According to Resmed, the little flaps are supposed to stay closed and only open when the machine is off. This allowed you to breath during power outages. Supposedly the exhaled CO2 exits the mask through the white circle where the hose attaches. I hated every minute I used this mask and quickly went back to a nasal mask.the rebreathing is horrible and dangerous.
i notice that the exhalation point on this mask is the ring around the tubing! most masks have a larger diffuser near your nose. i agree that its dangerous. my pressure settings are high 10-25 and finding a mask that doesnt leak or that is comfortable is hard to find. which masks you find work for you? im new to this and used 2 masks that didnt work. f10 and vitera both leaked horribly.
