    I have tried so many tutorials trying to figure out this simple 10 stitch pattern, and this is the first one I could really understand. You hold your yarn and needles the same way I do, so that's a biggy! Thank you! Now, I just need to find out if you do a 10 stitch twist tutorial. I'll keep looking.

    • @cherimichaelson7714
      @cherimichaelson7714 6 лет назад +5

      jessiloves, the 1st row is counted as the knitted row then the second row is purled (these two rows create the 'ridge' she is talking about). you will actually do 18 rows of knitting or purling to get the 9 ridges in garter stitch. The 3rd and then all the odd numbered rows will be knit, the even numbered rows will be purled (except for the 1st stitch -slipped or skipped; and the last one is always knit. I hope this helps and not confuse you more.

    Same here. I'm really confused. What your doing is changing too much, ends seem complicated depending what direction your going, and 9 rows? How do u keep track of when you've done 9 rows? Also when u leave your work and come back to it how do I know where I'm at?

    • @GoodKnitKisses
      @GoodKnitKisses  5 лет назад +1

      Have you gotten the pattern yet? That can also help you count the rows if you want to check off when you have made the ridges/rows. to tell where you have been you can look at the back of the last stitch and see where the yarn is coming from. you can even undo the stitch and tell which direction you knit from last if you are still new to seeing that. That also tells you which type of stitch you were making last to tell where you were. I suggest in this pattern that you always finish at the end of a purl row or a knit row (just pick one and just stick with that.). if possible it is good to stop knitting when ready to start a corner so you can know to always start with a corner but after a while your straight sections become longer and longer. As far and the 9 here is a quote from another watcher, I hope her phrasing gives you a better understanding, "the 1st row is counted as the knitted row then the second row is purled (these two rows create the 'ridge' she is talking about). you will actually do 18 rows of knitting or purling to get the 9 ridges in garter stitch. The 3rd and then all the odd numbered rows will be knit, the even numbered rows will be purled (except for the 1st stitch -slipped or skipped; and the last one is always knit. I hope this helps and not confuse you more." (Quote from Cheri Michaelson)

    • @GoodKnitKisses
      @GoodKnitKisses  4 года назад +1

      it’s hard to answer that question without knowing what Timestamp you were at when asking. Many things get repeated over and over in this pattern. Every other row is knit and every other row is purled to make garter ridges. If you click in the video description there is a link to the pattern.
      Here is the simplistic version of the pattern. The first part of the pattern just works back and forth repeating to a certain length and then you have to make 1 corner. This is the only place where you immediately start the next corner. Then you are at the spot where you are working more garter stitch rows and picking up the edge of the blanket as you go. When you reach the end (of the cast on edge) then another corner is made. Now you work the garter until the other end and make another corner. *Now for the rest of the blanket you continue to work in garter until you reach a mitered corner and then make a corner. Keep repeating from the * until you are happy with the size of your blanket. Simply bind off at a corner.

      Linda Galbraith the pattern sounds like it wants you to not put anything on the next peg in order to have a longer “ladder” or “bar” of yarn between stitches. It can create a nice column effect.

    Why do you do 3 wraps instead of 2 wraps ?

    • @GoodKnitKisses
      @GoodKnitKisses  6 лет назад +3

      Jennifer Brown it is the method for working back to increase the stitches when completing the second have of the corner. It’s like a gradual increase for a flat panel. The two wraps and wrapping less pegs each row causes the first half of the corner to get smaller. Then the three wraps and wrapping more pegs gradually causes it to go back to the original number of stitches. The extra wraps build a good foundation for there to have a stronger miter join without holes.

    • @GoodKnitKisses
      @GoodKnitKisses  3 года назад +1

      Once you get past the center on the ten stitch blanket you continue working a corner then attaching all the stitches along the edge to the next corner.
      The steps are:
      1. Knit rows to make the center of the blanket.
      2. Work 2 full corners.
      3. Continue working in garter stitch attaching the edge to the blanket as you go until you reach the next corner. (You will know it’s the corner when you run out of edge stitches to attach.)
      4. Work 1 full corner.
      5. Repeat Steps 3 and 4 until the blanket is the size you’d like.
      I hope this makes sense to you. If not, let me know.

    • @GoodKnitKisses

      The needle version yes you knit every row for garter stitch when working a flat panel & turning. With the loom it is always on the Right Side. So every other row MUST be purled to get the garter stitch ridge.

    • @GoodKnitKisses
      @GoodKnitKisses  5 лет назад

      Denise Boldin no. Not for garter stitch on a loom. This is because the Right Side of the work faces outward on the loom unlike on straight needles. So for it to have a purl Row on the RS then you must purl on a loom. For straight needles you turn your work so when knitting on the Wrong Side (WS) it makes the backside of that stitch show on the RS which is a purl stitch. I hope that helps

    What yarn are you using? I like the looks of it.

      In my video description there is usually a blog link and I tell you what yarn and supplies I use. For this video I state to use appropriate weight yarn for the loom you choose since this pattern is flexible. However I did show a few options in a photo on the blog. I’m not sure if all are still current yarns or not but you may want to check that out. They are laying next to the samples made with that yarn.

    Can we use the reverse purl knit stitch? (True knit, classic knit stitch) It's the easiest for me to do and keep the correct tension.

    I love how easy you make it look and how you explain every detail unlike the other videos! But i have 2 questions, should i change color on the knit or the purl row? And do i need to mark my corners as the other videos suggest?

    • @GoodKnitKisses
      @GoodKnitKisses  6 лет назад +1

      Amal Idrees I’ll be addressing that for you in an upcoming video. It is best to change on a knit row if you want to show it nicer on the front (Right Side). But if you like the back better on this, some people like to change color on the purl row. However I’ll be going over changing color and the best way to start when you are going for a specific design.

      Patricia Rone thanks! I used Bernat Beyond when I was looming on camera. It is the same as the darker grey yarn. The bright yellow-green sample was Bernat Softee Chunky. The green/grey one was Lion Brand Scarfie.

    I get lost after she does 10 rows and then starts the corner...idk her lingo is not easy to understand for me, I'm a beginner and I'm trying to figure out step by step, row by row.

    • @GoodKnitKisses
      @GoodKnitKisses  4 года назад +1

      mskittykat1101 have you looked at the written instructions yet? Please remember that this isn’t a beginner pattern. It is an “easy” pattern but that is a step up from beginner. However not all knitters used to the lingo at beginner and easy levels and I totally can understand your frustration. You may want to start with another pattern like my short row miter (we released it a few weeks ago) that basically is one of these corners all by itself. If that’s still too much you may find it easier to start at the beginning of our How to Loom Knit series. It starts with chatting about basic terms and tips then takes you through basic tutorials and builds skills to get into beginner patterns then beginner+ & easy patterns. ☺️

      Sandy Seas click the three dots on a mobile device or the gear icon on a desktop. Click playback speed. You will be able to change the video speed that way. Hope that helps!

      @@GoodKnitKisses Samsung. My phone doesn't show anything but caption when selecting 3 dots.I'm thinking iPhones have the advantage on this one. ThanQ for responding so quickly. I just started subscribing to your channel, and am just starting to loom knit. I'm having some issues, but some wonderful viewers have made excellent suggestions which I am implementing. Like purchasing better loom knitters and getting a book for beginners. I have ripped my project apart 25 xs (no joke) but am not giving up. I'm beginning to notice a lack of focus on my part which causes me to do a stitch wrong. Then, I don't know how to undo it. However, I will NOT give up! Keep up the gr8 work!

      @@sandyseas8355 I just found this answer via google. Will paste below.
      "Android RUclips app not let you to manage playback speed but you can do so by different method.
      Method:
      Download an external player that lets you control the speed, like BSplayer. Then in the youtube app when you get to the video you want to watch click the Share button and then select the player you want to use. The external player will open and it will play the video you want, and you can control the speed in it.
      I hope you understood."

      Hi Doti. If you click on the gear icon in the video window you can slow down the video speed. This is very helpful when you need to see how each stitch is worked. I hope this helps! (Edited to add: on mobile devices click the vertical 3 dots. That opens a menu and click Playback Speed to change the speed slower or faster.)

      I noticed if I'm on my Amazon Fire tablet I don't get the gear on videos to control speed etc. If you can access RUclips with a regular PC, or something running windows, the gear is there. (It may be available on other platforms as well but I can only speak for windows.) I just wanted you to know if the options aren't there for you.

      Becky P on mobile devices click the vertical 3 dots. That will give you a menu where you can select playback speed.

      I've look everywhere and there's no playback options when I'm on this fire tablet. (I'll check on a different browser someday on this thing. Silk browser seems to have some bad oddities. Tablet was $40 so can't complain much, its great overall) But I swear in desktop or mobile the playback speed is gone only on this tablet using Silk at least (Amazon's browser) I looked again after your reply, but unless its really hidden deep in obscure sub menus, it just isn't an option :( Thank you though for trying to help!!!! If you know someone with one of these, check it out, its really strange the option is gone lol.
