I know prison isn't supposed to be a vacation or go easy on you, but solitary confinement sounds like straight up legalized torture. It amazes me that prisons can get away with stuff like that.

It actually is an ancient form of torture, they used to lock you in there with a bible so you can just study it and “rehab or else” basically.

Unfortunately they don’t see it that way. I spent 7 days in solitary ONLY because Of the medicine I was taking before arrested and they knew I’d be going into withdrawals (they view it as a liability for you to be in gen pop if you are on certain meds that you are not getting while locked up). She is correct that they don’t really check on your well-being other than you breathing, so solitary for detox due to them needing to monitor your safety and vitals was BS on the highest level. I was in a mental and physical hell that made me question the purpose of living. Thankfully I am one of the lucky ones that went to gen pop after several days and finally, as any inmate would possibly agree, the sweetest words that were ever spoken finally came………”your last name, pack it up.”

you get it. especially when you are in jail for some stupid shit you didnt actually do. i already had ptsd long long before i ever went to jail as an adult. juvenile detention is literally solitary 23 hours a day. one time i was literally hog tied and ball gagged at 15 years old naked in nothing but my underwear. for 18 hours. plus i grew up in group homes which is partly what caused my ptsd but 17 years later i still struggle with it.

Solitary should be outlawed, it's so barbaric. The fact that they can send you there for just about anything, is so messed up. I get prison is punishment, but it seems the SC is torture. It can do irreparable damage to your mental health & well being, and sometimes the reasons for putting someone there are absolutely absurd! If you're caught with a pen or sitting on someone's bunk....my best friend was locked up for a couple years about 10 years ago and the stories are terrifying! She said the guards seemed to get off in sending people to the hole....sadistic stuff.

My only saving grace when I was in solitary is that I had a window so I would lay on my bunk and stare out the window. A spider had made a web on the outside of my window so I watched the spider a lot too. But that window is what saved me, it at least gave me something to look at, I could guess the time of day, and just use my imagination while watching the goings on outside.

I just want to say thank you for sharing your story ❤
You don't have to do that for us, and most people expect you to, but you do it anyway no matter how mentally challenging it is.
    You're a true inspiration ❤

Thank you so much for sharing these harrowing stories with us. It’s hard to listen to so can only imagine how difficult it is to recount & relive these experiences. But I appreciate you even more so & definitely look forward to hearing your jail solitary experience however it’s completely understandable if it takes awhile cuz we realize how hard it is to relive the experience filming & then editing it. ILYSM you’re truly a remarkable reminder of what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger !!!

This is honestly horrible. Like I understand if they have a separate area for someone who is truly more dangerous, etc, but it should not be like this. I don’t believe that punishment for a crime should include torture.

Commenting from my friend's acct.. I've been to jail, did 14 days in solitary confinement and you can't break because even if you do it doesn't matter you aren't fucking going anywhere. They have 'policies' that prevent guards that have any level of sympathy for you from sending you out of solitary until you're done doing whatever time you've been assigned.

I would LOVE to see a video about some guards/cops that you got to see some real compassion/humanity from, whether towards you or another inmate. I loved your story about the guard that used to sneak you now and laters :) id never be able to work in a prison, id want to care for each inmates individual needs and HELP THEM get through their time rather than make it hell for them

Hey Christina, have you watched The jail: 60 days in? It’s where they send people ‘undercover’ into the county jails to report back on the issues etc going on in the jail to try and help jail reforms. It’s so interesting as someone who has never been in prison to see first hand exactly what it’s like and I’d imagine interesting for you to compare your experience. 10/10 recommend for anyone remotely interested in prison life.

I Keep My Lights On And My Curtain Closed So No One Sees Me And You Think S.O Is Bad? WAIT UNTIL YOU GO TO INDIA They Have Prisons That Will Make Your Sanity Jump OUT THE WINDOW And Never Come Back Like Central Prison In Varanasi And If Your 18 Year Old Self Were To Bust Out You Would NOT Be Able To Escape The Sight Of Kaal Bhairav And TRUST ME If He Sees You Do It Well GAME OVER You Would Be Stuck In A NIGHTMARE
