+Autogefühl Mich würde interessieren, wo die Hersteller unterschäumte Oberflächen im Innenraum benutzen, und ob z.B. silberne Blenden nur Plastik sind oder Echtmetall! Besonders im unteren Bereich der Türen und des Armaturenbretts vorne wie hinten (Manche Hersteller sparen hinten Kosten). Danke!

This new Jag F-Pace is one of the rare occasions where the concept model looks EXACTLY like the production model.
And that, is a VERY good thing! Wow!
Love the attention to details in your review as always. Looks like a perfect SUV for my family. Adults in the front and two teenagers in the back traveling in style.

This interviewer gives a good reasoned detailed review based on a wide comparative template. This is in sharp contrast to the qualitative interviewers who give inadequate opinions of products which they know nothing about. Clearly useful to engineers wishing to improve the product.

Very pleasing exterior styling. Aside from the unique Jag backside I see all the best styling elements of BMW, Audi and VW in a strange way (to my eye). I hope the interior quality kicks it up a notch as that's where you spend your time interacting with the vehicle of course.

Glad to see the jaguar quality is starting to get better, like you said it is pre production so hopefully they get the quality up a bit more. And once again thank you for going over the F Pace, I saw one being tested a few days back and I thought how good it looked.

Also remember, this is a $40K SUV not a $100K F-Type. Concessions have to be made for cost considerations. Its not going to have top end materials.

+gracilism Maybe a $40k base cost, but it sure adds up quickly especially if you want V6 with a bunch of tech options. Definitely more expensive than a similarly equipped SQ5, similar price point to GLC 43 and not as powerful, and I don't know yet if the FPace is going to be able to hold it's own relatively speaking.
+kmorness the Supercharged V6 AWD starts at 42K. 340HP. Base is an AWD diesel. Lots of value in the drive train.

I like the black grille
This is one very large SUV, 3.4cm wider than the XJ and almost as long, with only six inches missing from the rear.
I attended the unveiling in Manchester last week, by invitation only.
I was really surprised at just how big the F pace was in the metal.
A real impressive interior finish as well.
The car will do well.
Priced one online. On paper, they're fantastic. Fast, nice looking, handle well, good utlity value, great warranty.

I have been looking at the evolution from the prototype until this beautiful vehicle since I was going to upgrade from a RR Evoque to a bigger SUV. I wanted a boost in performance too but couldn't wait any longer for the F-Pace to be available and I went for the BMW X5 M50d instead. I still love the F-Pace though, what a nice car this has become! Great preview vid as always, thank you!

I don't know if I'm the only one to think this, but Jaguar cars were more classy and had more character 10-15 years ago.

This is the next BMW X5, it is going to be everywhere
Love it, looks very beautiful! The 3.0 diesel seems to be the best pick for performance and fuel economy (compared to the 3.0 petrol) IMO.
Thomas, I noticed that the 20d only does 0-100 in over 8 secs while compatible vehicles like the BMW 320d wagon or Merc 2.1d do it in 7. I'm guessing this is all in the gearing or mapping of the shifts. Ask your Jag reps about this please!
Jaguar f-pace looks amazing but the interior needs a small change..I feel u need to shift the touch screen upward..somewhere near the AC vent.
Nice review, very detailed. Jag looks great. I'm patiently waiting......very nice cross design between cuv/suv. Ironically, I happen to have my Ford Edge Sport '11 next to this in a photo. I think some prior Ford DNA is here, the vehicles have an incredibly similar exterior line.

I really like the way the car looks, but it seems that more and more features are fake nowaday : fake exhaust pipes, fake air intakes, fake sound in the cockpit through the speakers. I find that quite pathetic... The beauty of a car should lie in its very mechanical conception, not in plastic. I don't recall any Jeep having a fake transfer box or a Ferrari having a fake V12 hiding a 4 in line.

You noted the likely poor visibility to the rear, but we didn't get a camera shot looking in the rear mirror to see just how tight it is. Were you able to do that in person, and how bad was it? Have a Q5 that's not great, and suspect this is worse, requiring camera and sensors to compensate.
+Simon Hodges yes the rear visibility is poor. Q5 better in that respect. However they probably argue that driving rear is down with rear view camera meanwhile anyway

I have never watched your reviews because I always thought they would be in German and I would not understand them, but I was so desperate to see an in-depth review of the F Pace I decided to watch it. I am glad I did as you did a great job, and I am very pleased it was in English, but doesn't that upset some Germans who will expect you to be speaking German?? :-)

Thomas is not a fan of leather seats but it is normally standard on higher trim levels of premium cars. I think the F-Pace will be the volume seller in the Jaguar portfolio and there are spy pictures of a smaller version being tested on public roads.

As usual, good review. But there is a small error. Why is the cameraman's breathing captured in the mic?? It is extremely prominent between 14:00 to 15:00, where the cameraman is taking efforts to film the interior LCD.. Hope this information helps to keep the quality of reviews good :)

The 22 inch rims look great, thats the kind of size such a car should have!
How would you compare the virtual cockpits between the FPace and Audi Q7? Which do you prefer and why? Could be a subject for a dedicated video... compare the E-class to these.

+Autogefühl Look forward to it! I test drove the new Q7 yesterday and spent a lot of time with the Virtual Cockpit. Very nice, though I felt the two screens were a little redundant, but nice to choose what you want on each screen. I like the detail of the reviews you do :)
Nice review Thomas! I can't wait to see your driving review of this vehicle. I'm going to be chatting with a salesperson here in Canada soon, but I'm afraid that LED headlights (something I would like) is going to packaged with a bunch of extras I don't want like leather seats. On top of this, it looks as though the non leather seats are flatter than the leather versions. It's really annoying when the car companies do this. I'd say wanting LED headlights results in 8k dollars worth of extras and push me into buying the BMW tourer or Audi allroad.

I have an idea. Maybe when you showing us lights and of course when it is possible would be good to turn them on. Sometimes turning on light change "character" of lights. If it make any sense to you?

well crafted SUV from Jaguar! super super attractive...the downside is the price. I was playing configuring different trims and the price is a hair below 70k here in the US. Your love story with this car should be really special to go that high :)

+contractki11er No its the new flexible aluminum platform that was also done for XE and XF. Discovery Sport is same platform with Evoque and like the predecessor Freelander, very old one
I love the attention to detail in these reviews. So many details covered that others miss! As for the car, it's nice, but if I was looking for an SUV from JLR, I'd have a Land Rover. This feels like a car that was created to satisfy a demand rather than because it makes sense. I think Jaguar should stick to saloons and sports cars. I'm sure it'll sell very well though and it is definitely one of the better looking faux-by-fours.

It does make sense. The SUV market is the biggest growing market. Why wouldn't Jaguar want a cut in that? They can hopefully capitalise on Land Rover's expertise. No brand is better placed to enter the SUV market! This already looks to beat anything created by the Germans.
i do like this F Pace, but I think the new Mazda CX-4-6 which is based on the Mazda Koeru concept should be the best looking thing going when it comes out in a year or so.
