At age 70 just been diagnosed. Runs in the family so was not shocked just disappointed. Somewhat scary n confusing as I am having to learn how to control my sugar levels. Those days of gorging on cookies, cakes, n sugary drinks are over. Being able to go online n get valuable info like this is a blessing.

I thought there was no going back for me, when I was diagnosed with a 12% A1C and no matter what I did eating just a tiny bit of sugar or carbs spiked my glucose levels hard. But after many hours of research I learned how to finally control it. I had to cut down every source of carbs and sugar, ate a carnivore/keto diet, took my metformin WITH berberine and bitter melon supplements. That’s only half the formula. The next step that was the most difficult that brought me back down to under a 100 blood glucose level was to fast for at least 16 hours a day. I also ate 86% percent dark chocolate to curb my sugar cravings and improve blood flow/antioxidants as well as drinking a lemon/acv water drink every morning. Two months later I can eat a candy bar and it’ll spike me to 150 but it comes back to 80-90 by the end of the night and I feel so much better. I hope this can help someone out there that’s reading this.

I have been watching you for some time and as a type 2 diabetic for around 12 years I have struggled to unravel the diabetes riddle but now having the knowledge that you give has made all the difference so that my a1c, formally at around 8, rides at about 5.6 to 5.7 with weight loss to boot. Many thanks!

Blood sugar and insuline depends what and how often you eat. I dont think a spike after meal matters. The problem is frequent eating (snacking) carbs all day long which causes permanently increased levels over years. Eat only 2 meals a day, at least one reduced carb and you will be fine. No rocket science needed. Your insuline will drop, your blood sugar stabilize since your body can pull energy from fat and you won't be hungry.

I’m 83yo I’m taking your ADVANCED GLUCOSE SUPPORT, and the first time I lower my blood sugar to 121 but the nigh my blood was 90 at night before going to sleep, then the next when I woke up it 90 again, I did not take your supplements until 1/2 hour dinner time. I test my blood sugar before going to sleep and it was 131. Your ADVANCED GLUCOSE SUPPORT IS GOOD. When I was taken insulin injections my blood sugar never went down that low. It was usually above 200 or even 300 . I’ll see my new doctor this 20th of September. I also have those rashes & brown spots on skin and itchy on my body before taking you supplement. The doctor had prescribed me a lotion.

Used to my glucometer before and 30, 60, 90 minutes after every meal and found that too much veggies (Brussels sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower rice) spiked my glucose . Kept carbs under 10grams. Stayed full with higher fat (,butter, fatty red meat) . Cut my eating window down to 8 hrs, then 6 , then 4 and now 2 hrs OMAD. In my 2nd yr and I never crave the junk. I had to limit my carbs to 10g or under to see a significant drop in my A1c. No longer a slave to food.

So why when I wake up, I eat and 4 hours later, I check my blood sugar to make sure it’s not low low and make sure its time to eat or wait

A blood sugar spike after eating something sugary like chocolate is common, but it usually returns to normal after some time. If you're unsure about diabetes, it's always a good idea to consult a healthcare professional for accurate testing and advice. Monitoring your blood sugar regularly is a helpful way to track how your body responds to different foods.

I feel worse when I take the meds, experience fast heart rate, sweaty but been told increase med ,exercise and lose weight. I feel I've been missed diagnosed.

    • @caroleanne8529

Sounds like side effects to your meds. Read my comment to Adam Kuklych's post (above). I doubt your Dr would tell you that you are diabetic if your blood work was normal. My mother was 55 at diagnosis, she lost part of her sight, was on kidney dialysis and lost both legs before she passed at age 72, because she was not going to let a disease tell her what to do. Take your diabetes seriously - it is called the silent killer.

I was going to say the same when I saw those listed foods, when I went away on holiday I decided the easiest breakfast was oats, wholemeal oats, I came back and I had a doctors assessment and the results said I was pre diabetic, 7.4, since then I have cut my carbohydrates right down, and each morning I am in the 5.0 region. Which is ok, I have a blood glucose monitor and I am just wondering what a spike should look like 2 hours after eating, it’s normally gone up to 8.0

After meals my BGL is quite high for up to 4 hours afterwards before it drops back to the normal ranges. Type 2, have had it for 14 years. Sometimes BGL's are high (180+) until just before the next meal then drop back to about 140 - 150 just as I am about to eat. The only way to keep this in check is to have a very low calorie diet under 1000 cal per day. Great for weight loss but really really difficult to sustain.

Watch the Ted Talk video by Sarah Hallberg. Then watch Sugar MD's video about how many carbs you can eat according to your activity level. After that, watch Sugar MD's video where he lists the carbohydrate content of each food. I sure hope these three videos, which will take you less than an hour to watch, will help you. It is not the calories, it is the carbohydrates.

    Yea in wondering about this.
Every morning if I drink orange juice or take a tablespoon of honey my blood sugar will spike to 190 within 20-30 mins, then within a hour it’s already coming back down.
I’m lean and my fasting insulin is 3.4, does these spikes every morning mean anything bad.
Because they always check the 1-2 hour window, but what about the spikes in the 20-30 mins 😂
