Cheers Tom, it was good to meet you! The blistering sun and hills joined forces to make it an even tougher run. Beacon Hill at the end was mental! Great work and time from yourself too!
Young Man, you (and your brother) are a Machine! You react to the 75kms mark the way I react to 7.5kms. Well done! I thought our Comrades Marathon (South Africa) - which I haven't been crazy enough to even consider taking part in - was considered a pretty tough race... but this is 10km longer than yours AND you're running Cross Country here for a great deal... wow! [if my calculations are correct the Comrades Marathon route is around 5,000ft more elevation though - so it might be considered tougher, I guess?]. Well done! Great to watch... and Congratulations!
Hi Jonathan, thanks so much for watching and for the comment! It was a tough race for sure but we were careful to train quite a lot before hand with some 30 mile runs. It made a big difference. Hopefully one day I'll get a chance to try the Comrades Marathon in South Africa, cheers!
Thanks so much for watching Frank and I'm glad you enjoyed it. It was a very enjoyable day, despite the challenging weather conditions! I'm excited to document and share more ultramarathon running experiences soon, cheers.
Fantastic run! I wasn't so lucky, stacked it between Ardingly and Wivelsfield and haven't been able to run since. Great video, brought back some good memories.
Thanks for watching Craig! It was a fun run indeed and it’s a shame that you stacked it! There were so many mud pits so it could have happened to anyone, I slipped twice myself. Great name by the way!
Congratulations! This was so fun to watch! Running on a horse race track has just been added to my bucket list. I've done a few mostly flat 50ks and a trail marathon. I'm definitely contemplating stepping up my distance and elevation. These videos are so inspiring!
Thanks Kelly, it was a fun event to take part in and I'm secretly gutted I'm not doing it again this year! Doing a similiar 100k, or even London 2 Brighton, would be a great challenge for sure. Thanks for watching!
Well done Craig! I was with you as we were walking through the train station. Such a great race and great to see you finish so strong. I came in a few hours after you but had the greatest day and adventure possible. Well done!
Hi Mark, the train station was an unexpected but cool part of the course indeed! Thanks for watching and the kind words. It was a fantastic day with lots of obstacles thrown in to keep us busy. Nice one!
Awesome video Craig. Respect to both yourself and your brother for completing the challenge. This morning I've booked my entry for next year's L2B 100, though I'm a walker and have taken the 2 day option. I'm currently training for the Thames Path 100km in September.
Nice one Neil, thanks for watching and commenting. You will have a brilliant weekend next year when you take it on. I’m sure you will but be sure to bring plenty of sun cream as it can get hot and there’s lots of exposed spots! I’m doing the Thames 100 miler next May, hope you enjoy the 100km in September and use it as great experience for the l2b run.

Just got this one popping up on my feed. Another cracking ultra performance, Craig, and your bro. You know how to make a good ultra video too! The delirious chat to the lambs was funny :D
Great effort and video! I did this last year too (walking) but had to withdraw at 43km after twisting my ankle. Signed up again this year as it’s unfinished business!

It would be really good to get your top tips and advice as I am planning to run it in 2022. Thanks. Btw I was looking for the results but cant find. Do you know where they are posted?

Hey Craig, congratulations on completing London to Brighton - it looked liked you genuinely enjoyed (almost!) every single minute of it! Great effort to finish in daylight too 👍🏻 And well done for documenting the experience so well! I did the run in 2015, good to see Bitch Beacon hasn’t lost her touch 😏
Hey Julie, what a comment! It was a genuinely enjoyable experience for me and, barring a small 6 or so mile stretch in the middle, I loved practically every minute. It was nice to see the sun starting to make its descent as I came into Brighton for sure, even if that was during the Beacon Hill climb. Well done for completing it in 2015, ever fancy retrying your hand at it?! Thanks for watching Julie, glad you enjoyed it.
I’ve always said I would do L2B again as it was such an enjoyable run - a friend wants to do it next year so I said maybe I’d do it with her. I’ve done quite a few Action Challenge events, they are really great aren’t they?
This is my goal first 100k.. looks epic, with not too much challenging vert.. was gonna do it next year, but have uts50 again next year as I had my first DNF attempting it last year. Think 2024 would be to close to UTS tired legs.. hopefully successful UTS legs this time.. well done on this.. think I’d need a head torch on my attempt.. I’m not 12hours fast 😂
Best of luck with UTS50 again next year, absolutely love that race and would love to do it again or the 100k at some point! I always take a head torch regardless though, never know when you might need it! Thanks for the comment and good luck for the races
What a nightmare of a hill at the end after 100k!! A great video of the race there mate. I notice you did exactly the same as me and tried to clean your lense with your shirt right?!!
Yeah it is a crazy hill to contend with after running 62 odd miles for sure! Cheers mate I’d highly recommend this one. Yeah you know 😂 Some dust from my chewable energy tablets got everywhere and I tried to clean the lense but it unfortunately lead to the smudged effect in the later part of the video!
Well done. Was thinking of doing this challenge as I run for a local running club and have done a 50km circuit a few years ago. Is there a cut off time ?
Thanks mate! It’s a great challenge I’d recommend it. There are set cut off times over the weekend for different aid stations, check them out here: ultrachallenge.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/London-2-Brighton-Challenge-Factsheet-2021.pdf
Thanks Avinash. The next long one is my first 100 miler in May this year from London to Oxford along the River Thames. Going to be crazy but I'm up to give it a try!
I just kept to one pair of shoes throughout the entire race. Some people say that it’s ideal to bring two pairs but I didn’t want to have to lug another pair of shoes around as any additional bit of weight makes a big difference to performance over that distance. Also space is limited so I decided against it. I’ve heard it works well for those that can get family or friends to drop some extra shoes off at one of the aid station, but it worked fine for me with one pair
I believe I was wearing Mizuno Wave Prodigy 3s for this one mate, fantastic shoes. Wore Asics for first 2 years of proper running then switched to Mizuno. Unless I try something better, can't say I'll switch anytime soon
@@robertpetrus2934 Road shoes for this one. In hindsight, probably would have been better to wear trail shoes as more of the course was trail than road but I managed fine on the day
