Tears rolling down my face as you came up to the finish line with Freddie cheering you on. Way to go Sarah! This has inspired me to stop viewing a marathon as a pipe dream and instead take it on!
Our local Blackmores Sydney Marathon next year would be fab (recently nominated to become a major - fingers crossed!) but an overseas marathon would be beyond incredible.
-30 on last km is outstanding. And I agree with others in their posts, you certainly owe Freddie a drink. it was your legs but also his encouragement that got you sub 4 hours 👏👏👏
Full on bawled at the end watching you speed past people with Freddie cheering you and having that complete faith. What an incredible result! Sarah you're such an inspiration.
It’s 9am on a Saturday morning in the Philippines as I was watching this and now I am crying tears of joy in front of coffee praying that my fiancé won’t wake up because I would look really silly crying over a running video on youtube. 😂😂😂 so happy for you and for hitting that goal.
Well done Sarah! 25 minutes off your PB is AMAZING! Shout out to Freddy as well for all the unsung work he does behind the camera pacing the presenters. Would love a short on his own running.
Sarah, you are SUCH a champion!! My god, that last 30 seconds were the best but if suspense ever and you pushed so, so hard. Like many others, I’ve got tears in my eyes. Full marks to Freddie for his encouragement and dedication to helping you. Another champion, no doubt. I hope he enjoyed the beer you no doubt got him. 🎉
Well done Sarah. 18 years ago I was exactly where you were. Berlin Marathon with the aim of a sub 4. This brought it all back as if it has been yesterday. Running towards the Brandenburger Tor at the end and mobilising everything you have for the finish is an unbeatable feeling. One of my proudest moments ever. Thank you for that. Tears were rolling when I watched your video. You looked still so strong when you run your last few hundred meters. Congratulations! Fantastic time.
Brilliant well done. I’m so pleased for all three of you for breaking 4 hours - think you owe Freddie a drink for all his encouragement over that last km😅
Congratulations, Sarah! I was so cheering you on those last 2 kms with tears in my eyes, because I had just achieved the exact same goal in my first marathon (aged 51) with a time of 3:59:06. I so know what you were going thru. So proud of you for persevering with your goal from 33km mark. I so happy because now I dont have to do another marathon ever : goal achieved. Phew. Go you sub 4 hour marathoner you!
Such an emotional and inspirational moment! After seeing your progression on this channel I feel like we are all just so happy for your accomplishment of a sub-4 hour marathon! Congratulations!!
That was surprisingly emotional for me. You must be so proud of yourself! Watching you overtake all those people in that final dash was unreal. Super job Sarah - enjoy your well earned recovery.
Hi, I just walked/ran my first marathon seven days ago on the same day that you ran this race. You have been inspiration to me over the last six months as I’ve trained and encountered injuries and setbacks and a lot of mental strength training… I cried for half of your video! You are amazing and thank you for sharing your journey! Congratulations on your sub 4 :-)
I ran the same race and we’re etched into the history books of being part of the new world record race! I felt emotional watching this and could see how much that sub 4 hours meant! You absolutely blasted down the last 400m! You were flying past everyone! I’ve got a big target for Edinburgh marathon next year and really hope it goes like this 😊 (maybe with a few seconds extra to spare right enough just to decrease the stress levels!😂) Congrats! 👏🏻
So awesome! Love how your buddy kept pushing and cheering you on towards the end, all while running and recording. Awesome video. Felt like I was there with you all. Congratulations Sarah, Katie and to Freddy! 👏🏼 🙌🏼 Badasses! 🏃🏻♀️🏃🏻♂️😎 Loved it! Was cheering you on at the end, all the way from Los Angeles, CA. USA. 😃
OMG - that was incredible. Massive congratulations Sarah - so exciting to watch and so perfectly executed. and you had the energy (mostly) to provide commentary!
I ended up crying as you got closer to the finish line. Massive congratulations Sarah, you are such an inspiration! Well done on your sub 4 PB 🎉 I’ve entered both the Berlin marathon 2023 lottery and the London 2023 ballot, fingers crossed 🤞 but Berlin looks EPIC!!
Sarah, congrats on running your first sub four hour marathon! You're just the inspiration I needed as in two weeks time I'll be running my first marathon (Amsterdam) at 63 years of age and aim to replicate your achievement! 💪🤞
If you slow down the speed at x0.5 and pause at 14:04, you will see the timer showing 4:51:08. Does it have to do with the handicap of each runner? Cause Sarah's official time is indeed sub 4.
Amazing work Sarah, I was literally screaming at the screen for that last km yelling at you to sprint and give it everything you've got. You should be proud of yourself! Two weeks ago I ran in the Sydney (Australia) Blackmores marathon which is under review to become the seventh world major marathon, in 2019 I ran it in 3:38, this year I did it in 2:50 and was absolutely stocked!
You’re a legend Sarah!! Thank you so much for these inspirational videos. You’ve made me think that one day I could run a marathon. At the age of 50 I decided to try to run further than my standard 5k’s that I’ve been doing for many years. At the age of 51 I’ve finally run a half marathon this year. I’m now running this distance consistently and will start thinking about the full.
Congratulations Sarah, Freddie and Katie!! On sub 4 🎉🎉🎉 We all need supporters like "Freddie" for those tough times and end stage of a race.... "" COME ON"👍👍
Thank you that inspires me so much, it seemed so emotional! I just did my first half marathon in Oct now my first marathon will be in April in London, I want to go under 4hours too. Now to fit in all the prep as I never ran more than 2hrs! Let's go!!!
Well done, amazing job to you and Katie. Finish push was amazing, goose bumps and cheering for you ( loudly) as you crossed the line. You are inspiring! Got to give a shout out to Freddy for his support and encouragement and of course his amazing footage.
Seriously? You guys bloody rock! Running sub 4 hours AND filming? I am just gutted to see Freddy effortlessly run and film at the same time :D You're absolute legends! If you weren't filming it's easily a 3:50 run - but we could not have witnessed it then. Thumbs up!
Congrats to you both on the sub-4. Seems like we were running quite close (clock me at 8:09 in the video wearing the sky blue shorts and Spinal Research tee). This was my 2nd marathon as well after London 2019 (where I struggled a 4:50:07) but managed a PB 3:50:12. Agree with the course, its fantastic and so fast.

I didnt expect to me so emotional invested in this vid. Great ducking job! The fact that your were filming and running at the same time. Also, the fact that you still had post race interview just blows my mind
Congratulations, Sarah! I loved watching you pass all of those people near the finish and hearing Freddie cheer you on. You looked so strong at the end. What an inspiration!
Congratulations, Sarah! I ran it as well last week and also had a great time (in both senses of that phrase). I enjoyed reliving the experience from your video.
The sub 4 is impressive, but I am even more in awe at the incredible finish! Pushing fast and hard after a long tough sub 4 marathon effort and not just for 400m? That's incredible! It may also show, that there is potential for even bigger achievements in the future
Well done Sarah! I run on the same day Warsaw Marathon and i had the same plan to run sub 4. My old PB was 4:06 so I pushed to the limit and my new PB is 3:32:11! It is over half hour faster. It was amazing day!
@@AlbertWeijers good , luck , Next weekend i am doing my firsthalf , last year i decided to change my lifestle , gave up smoking after 30 years , lost 25kg , and started running , i hope to finish the half in 2.20 , but this will be my longest run
Wow amazing run Sarah. You had me in tears on the finish line. I'm doing NY this year with sports tours, was cancelled twice, so I've had to train for it 3 times.
Wow well done Sarah!!! You've smashed it! You're my inspiration, tomorrow is the London Marathon and despite the weather forecast I will try and go join the thousand of people to support amazing runners. It might just inspire me to sign up for 2023.
It's so refreshing seeing some 'real' people (meant as a compliment) grinding it out and achieving their goal. Hearty congrats to Sarah and Katie for your sub-4 marathons! A sub-4 is certainly no gimme. Also kudos to Freddie who, no doubt, was a big factor.
Well done Sarah! a great achievement and was willing you on at the end....not sure I'd have had the energy in that last 2km that you had. My last marathon was in 2016 and watching videos like this is slowly nudging me towards my next.
Congrats Sarah! I have to comment on the last few words after the marathon. I'm a weird runner in that I perform best in hilly terrains. I've run plenty of marathons and yet my PB remains in my home town turf. I live in a hilly city at an altitude of >1600 meters. I find flat, sea level races challenging since every training run I do involves ups and downs. As a sub 4hr runner, you can crush your 10k PB and do a sub 45 for sure!
Great video! Brought back a lot of memories for me. I finished in 3:39:50 & was my first marathon. I was also upping the pace to hit a time goal & just made it. Can’t wait for my next, with a goal of 3:30. Then 3:15, then 3. Oh & one day an Ironman also. One regret, not taking headphones! Also may be tempted to get some fancy carbon shoes also. One thing I noticed is that it appeared the crowds were less compared to when my wave went past (D). A good reason to put in a slightly quicker time to soak in the added noise, it was immense!
Well done Sarah! I was literally on the edge of my seat willing you on for this video, amazing time and incredible determination on that finishing leg! You should be so proud of your time!!!
Huge congratulations Sarah and Katie!! I'll be racing my 2nd marathon in York in 2 weeks and going for a PB, hopefully I can channel that same positivity and energy at the finish!
That was spectacular Sarah. So fun (and informative) following your videos. Completed my marathon last Saturday and have spent the week recovering and, like everyone else, watching endless coverage of Kipchoge and all things Marathon. Your finish was as exciting as they get. Well filmed, well executed, A+++. Congratulations to you and all your friends. I missed my time goal by a mile but that’s ok. Seeing things like this keep us all excited for the next one. (Haha. By a mile means by a large margin here. Hmm. Do they say by a kilometer over there. lol😂). Thanks again.
Definitely, a fantastic marathon, great weather, great atmosphere. I prepared myself to beat my PB and run below 3h30m... And i managed to improve my PB by 11' (3h25m30s). Loved it. Congrats Sarah... By 2"... Great effort!
Liebe Sarah, gratuliere. ich laufe Ende Oktober in Frankfurt, mein Ziel unter 4h. ich nehme deinen mega Zieleinlauf als Motivation mit. Es war sehr ergreifend.
Absolutely amazing! Well done Sarah. I'm training for my very 1st marathon that's happening in 9 weeks time. First goal is just to complete the marathongo second goal is to get a sub 4,30. Sub 4.... I will KIV that for the time being.
Well done Sarah, your progression from your last marathon to this one is excellent. I ran the Two Tunnels half marathon this year, I got under two hours, I will run the Bath Half this month and hope to go under 2 hours again. My long term goal is go under 4 hours in a marathon. Being on the Autism Spectrum, the crowds on race day are nerve racking, my first half marathon had quite low entrance numbers, compared to my upcoming Bath Half, so I have to see how I cope with that, once I get going, I am like a diesel train, not that fast, but I keep going 😂
This was an awesome running channel vid, possibly my favourite ever. Really emotional watching the sprint finish(which seemed a really long sprint!) Great job all. Got to say if i ever get to a marathon i think i am going to need a Freddie!
Yes!!!!!!!!💯. Congrats. I'm glad you pushed and did it 🥳. Watching this video as i couldn't travel 🧳 to London cuz my visa didn't come yet. I'll be running it virtually tomorrow and this is more then enough inspiration 👊🏾🙌🏾♥️
That was awesome to watch!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉 congratulations Sarah! So good to see you hit your target! Tears in my eyes again 🤦♀️ watching that. You may have felt wrecked but you looked strong. You have come so far!!🎉🎉🎉
Well done!!! I find my mental math skills are at their strongest when I am calculating time on the course. I did my latest marathon in 3:51:45 and was thrilled to break 4 hours again. I have Boston and London marathons on my bucket list!
Congratulations Sarah, what a fantastic run and a superb finish!! You really looked as though you enjoyed the whole experience. I also ran Berlin this year (3:41:25) and completed my second marathon this year all thanks to TRC marathon training plan.
Absolutely inspirational finish Sarah - congratulations! You just poured everything you had into it and it paid off. Wonderful video - looking forward to the next challenge!👏👏
Just fyi @14:08 that marshall checking up on is so sweet, she is asking whether everyhing is alright. Probably saw overwhelmed by your emotions :D Kudos to you!
Awesome result everyone. Congratulations on a sub 4 hour time. I was on the edge of my seat saying come Sarah, come on. I was hoping to do London tomorrow but couldn't get an entry. I wasn't going try for next years event but having seen you today i might just try. It will be my first marathon and my age will be 76. Yikes!!!!
It's 2am in south london, i've got my windows open and i've been shouting Come on Sarah quite loudly for pretty much maybe 4 mins now.. what on earth my neighbours and any passersby must be thinking right now :-) .. Well done Sarah, and well done Katie.. top work ladies..
Wow, when you want something, go get it! Amazing race Sarah and the team, so inspiring. Those times are like lightening to someone like me who is much slower, runner, but just love what running can do. Here's to the next marathon and huge congratulations on your first major!
Well done Sarah!! Congratulations for such a great milestone!! I also managed to get my sub 4 PB in Berlin! It was great to meet you in the metro! Cheers from São Paulo 🇧🇷!
You absolute rock star! That final push was something to behold, its so amazing what we can find in our legs when the finish line is in sight and the clock is ticking away. Huge congrats to you, what an effort!
Wow that was a strong finish Sarah. Congratulations!! My first marathon time was the same as yours so I mow feel inspired to do the 4 hrs in April for marathon no. 2. Huge well done again Sarah! X
Kept checking for myself in your video 😅, I ran Berlin this year as well (my second ever marathon) and finished sub 4 (3:51:32). Kudos to you Sarah, the months of training paid off 👏👏👏
Congrats Sarah!!! I totally feel your emotions since we had almost the same experience from this Marathon. I came with a 4:47 PB and I reached a 3:59:39 in Berlin!! Keep it up 🎉
Congratulations Sarah!!!! I was sitting on the edge of my chair cheering you on for the last stretch! You looked so strong. 🏃♀️ 🏅 👏 loved the message run the mile you’re in.
Well done, Sarah!!!! Your Amsterdam marathon series was the inspiration for me running my first marathon which is coming up in 2 weeks. Congrats. YOU SMASHED IT!
Well done! Amazing! Don't think you will ever forget this run. My first marathon I also had to sprint to the finish to get my sub-4. The supporters was counting down and i just made it in time to qualify D seeding for Comrades. Will never forget it :)
4:21:03 Was my time in Berlin. Amazing you made the 4 hours, amazing in deed. That was my third Marathon and will be my last, I am just getting to tired to easily these days at 47 years of age. I may do another, but not to sure. Well done to you both.
How inspiring Sarah, I am running London tomorrow and been feeling really low as I got a tummy bug on Wednesday, but you have inspired me to get out there and go for it thanks ❤
Absolute legend!!!! Well done to you both. Inspiring running. I'm doing my first marathon in Amsterdam this year after watching you last year!!! Go Sarah!!!!!

Seriously, that determination got it done at the end. Great teammates too.
-30 sec on last 2 km, incredible

That finish was outstanding. All that 10K training paid off and your muscle memory kicked in. Loved Freddy's encouragement during that last stretch.

Well done!!! I find my mental math skills are at their strongest when I am calculating time on the course. I did my latest marathon in 3:51:45 and was thrilled to break 4 hours again. I have Boston and London marathons on my bucket list!
That’s an amazing time Janice!! Agave you entered the London 2023 ballot yet?
@@runningchannel not yet, being so b Canada makes it a bit of a more expensive endeavour but love the idea of the sports tour
Congratulations Sarah, what a fantastic run and a superb finish!! You really looked as though you enjoyed the whole experience. I also ran Berlin this year (3:41:25) and completed my second marathon this year all thanks to TRC marathon training plan.
