  • Scuba Diving the Frederiksted Pier is by almost all accounts the crown jewel of diving on St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands. Located on the west end of the island, the 1,526-foot pier jets out into the warm Caribbean waters, creating a spectacular easy shore dive for new and experienced scuba divers alike. At an average depth of 25 feet, the pier allows for longer bottom times and offers something for everyone.
The pier is supported by numerous rows of concrete pilings that are covered in a wide variety of sponges, soft and stony corals, tiny crabs, brittle stars, the occasional seahorse, and so much more. The pier overhead creates a shadow underneath and allows the sunlight to dance around the edges. Barracuda are often spotted a few feet below the surface hiding in the shadows, while large schools of reef fish move as one in the midwater column. Batfish and scorpionfish can often be found walking along the sandy bottom.
Hawksbill and green sea turtles both call the Frederiksted Pier home, and are frequently spotted grabbing a breath of air at the surface and gliding down to the seafloor.
The Frederiksted Pier is one of our favorite dive sites. Join us as we gear up and jump into the warm water both during the day and at night. We'll be stopping at different spots to highlight the incredible diversity this dive site has to offer. Dive along with us as we spot turtles, octopus, stingray, and so much more.
Happy diving, we hope you enjoy the video, - Jeff, Sara, and Evan.

Very Cool! The F'sted Pier is a fantastic dive site and never disappoints. When you were living on St. Croix did you ever get to see the Submarine Barge? We recently did a dive on it, but don't know much about it.

I saw a beautiful spotted eagle ray with a 20 feet tail while I walking on the pier… he was just swimming up and down showing off

Wow! Spotted Eagle Ray are the best. They are so beautiful and graceful. Glad you were able to find one showing off and spend some time with it.
Here’s a short clip from our Facebook page of a recent eagle ray encounter we had at the pier we thought you would enjoy as well.

Evan really needs to jump out farther from the pier for his first dive. His tank looked really close to hitting the pier. His night dive looked good.

A question for you. My son flew from Paris to our home in Denmark is it okay to dive the next day, or are there any rule, as when you dive and then fly...Which is obviously not okay until the time required? Not much info on this, very surpriseed.
    Great videos by the way.

    • @TritonsRealm
      @TritonsRealm  3 года назад +1

Great question and glad you're enjoying the videos. There is no problem with diving after flying as there is no increased risk of DCS . DCS, as I'm sure you know, is caused by a high concentration of Nitrogen in the blood after diving, which can form bubbles at lower pressures. Because of this you can get off the plane and go diving, but you can't go diving then jump right on a plane. Enjoy your dive!

@@TritonsRealm Thanks for that the reason I asked is because the owner of our local dive shop seemed to think it was dangerous so leading to my question to you. He is not a qualified dive master so obviously miss informed!!
We all went out and had a great dive.

I really enjoy your videos but I would make a few suggestions. When you're talk to the camera a points you're sitting way too far away from the camera and it's hard to see you. Maybe some better lighting onto your face as well to get rid of shadows.
All of your underwater shots and lighting are amazing. Love all the sea life around you guys.
Overall its a great video , my comments aren't said with poor intent at all just trying to help a creator improve.
I wish you all the best, happy, and safe diving !

@@TritonsRealm In 1972, our families from the USA had Christmas vacation at Sprat Hall. It was heavenly, with local cooks hired for meals by the hosts, Jim and Joyce Hurd. Then, in 1995, I came back to experience Hurricane Marilyn. It was brutal. But I stayed that year, got certified by Doug Kipp, divemaster. Snorkled the pier several times, also, and your video made it real for me again. Diving "the wall" was scary to realize the deep, darkness went down forever.
