Scuba Diving the Ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria!
Просмотров 11 тыс.2 года назад
In the Eastern Harbor of Alexandria, Egypt, lay the remains of the Lighthouse of Alexandria. It’s one of the 7 wonders of the ancient world and stood for almost 1,500 years before it was destroyed by an earthquake in 1303. Today we’re scuba diving this incredible underwater archeological site to see if we can locate one of the 30 sphinxes that are said to lay just below the waves. Special Thank...

If people are going to make reef habits for fish... maybe plant some coral on it 🤔
I am confused about the set up. Seems the trimix diver is on single tank back mount in parts of the video which is not plausible. Thanks in advance for the clarification
I've been to St. Thomas, and to my favorite U.S. Virgin Island St. John, many times. Every time I was in St. John, I wondered what that crazy island is that pokes out of the sea like the peak of an underwater mountain off the shore of St. John. Thanks to this video, I now know. What a beautiful place, and with such amazing underwater life. That ray was incredible. Great video!
Any plans to post new content? I see your footage in my gym running on the treadmill. Really enjoy your content, so hate to see you all never return.
GREAT
Wow. Such an unexpected interesting display they got of something from Pacific Rim, Halo, and Star Wars. I wish other people that I've watched scuba diving here could've shown that there. They add more to display from my favorite movies or shows.
Are there great whites over there ??
I haven’t seen not one fish
Where’s your dive flag dude?
Where exactly are the statues? I went snorkeling here a couple of years ago and didn't see any of this.
Amazing visibility
Why is there no life? No fish? or other lake life. So dead.
I'm curious to know why you would be at risk of getting entangled in fishing lines? Seems like with all the other places to dive, you could forgo the fishing area. Maybe something to keep in mind for next time that it's important to respect everyone using the public park.
As avid waterman we also love to fish, and respect anyone using the pier for recreation. However as a diver any time you go under the bridge to get to the other side, fishing lines are a risk that need to be accounted for. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Great video thanks
Many thanks for the video... Diving this weekend in West Palm w/ #blackflag diving charters for the grouper migration..
Great job explaining NDL concerns during the dive! How does St Croix compare to other dive locations like the Florida Keys or Bonaire?
Thank you. St. Croix has a lot of diverse dive sites including boat dives and shore dives out to a wall that drops down 13,000’, a bay with over 5 different wrecks, an amazing reef system on both the north shore and west end, and arguably the best pier dive in the world. Reef diving in the keys is generally shallower, but the wrecks are bigger than on St. Croix. Bonaire is full of great shore dives and has similar wall and wreck dives as St Croix along with a great pier dive, but I think diving St. Croix is a hidden gem.
@@TritonsRealm Thanks for the Reply, and we're enjoying many of your other videos, too! We enjoyed snorkeling at St Thomas and St John several years ago, and expect St Croix is similar
Damn you had to go all the way to Hammond? It don’t seem far but when flying on the plane and seeing where the lake curves, you see it is actually far lol
I saw the tenting behaviour of an octopus in Bali n had no clue what it was doing. Now I know! Thank you for educational vid 🙏
Our pleasure. Thanks for watching.
PR 🇵🇷
I do dive alone, I am more comfortable diving solo than taking care of a buddy.
I know he's filming and probably going back and forth during these shots but the way he just leave s his van trunk and side doors open 💀💀 seriously the biggest part for me is getting my keys inside my wetsuit and then putting on all my gear outside my car xc
Thanks for the comment. The keys and locking the car while diving is definitely a problem. We’ve solved it by buying a ford with a key pad entry.
I am Arnaldo your friend I miss you
So, where that medieval fortress is, it's where the lighthouse of Alexandria used to stand?
Yes, it’s on the same location and was an exciting place to explore.
@@TritonsRealm Cool. Such a shame the Lighthouse no longer stands. Do you plan to visit any other ancient wonders, like the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus?
I would really like to explore this swimming pool it looks fascinating and a dream come true.
What is this 'dive buddy' you speak of?
How did you get the cable out of the dive canister?
at 3:28 how healthy is that coral?
My family lived here for a little over 10 years. My dad loved to do night dives here. Its nice to see the beach again. Its been a long time since we've been there. Miss the water but not the island.
I was just curious about where to dive near Chicago & your channel popped up. Great videos.
Is that reef coral looking stressed?
I miss diving so much!
This is a fantastic video. I am an aspiring solo diver (I just want a little more experience) and this video is not only inspirational, but very practical in terms of showing divers a safe way to solo diver properly.
How brave these guys
Thanks. We’re just out there having fun. 😁
Really appreciate your focus on training diving dry before hitting the lakes. Anytime you are in a new environment with new equipment it’s essential to get some time in a more controlled situation. I love the Great Lakes. If you get a chance, hit the St Lawrence River around Thousand Islands. Fantastic tech and fresh water wrecks!
This video just deserves way more exposure
Thank you. 😁
Great tips! I learned how to dive on the Central Coast of CA. My OW dives consisted of shore dives where I couldn't even see my hand in front of my face and the surge was so bad we had to hold onto each other. I feel like if you can dive off the CA coast, especially shore dive, you can dive almost anywhere. Now my husband and I shore dive in Hawaii and it's so easy! It's like going into a pool.
Just discovered your channel! My husband and I did this for our 10 year anniversary in 2016 with Nautilus. I'm so glad we were able to do this before they closed the preserve. What a once in a lifetime experience!
Amazing video friend 😊
Thank you. 😊
I have a nauticam underwater housing for a Ninja V Monitor. Is there a way to turn off the splash screen menus on the Ninja V monitor, as this currently obstructs the camera settings. the monitor housing does not seem to have a button that can be used or extended to touch the main screen, which is the standard way to hide these menu overlays when not in a housing. this is also an issue if you are trying to use the record features of the Ninja V in ProRes mode. you need to hide the splash screens otherwise the overlay information will be recorded. any suggestions?
I like the video but the music is a little loud compared to the voice over. Looks like a really cool site though and I love your t-shirt idea.
Thanks for the feedback. 👍
What's the chance of getting eaten by a shark?
Just don't kick up the bottom for us trying to take photos.
This is definitely one of my favorite videos that you guys made. I probably watched it half a dozen times over the years. I hope that you are all doing well.😀
Gracias por compartir las bellezas que DIOS ha creado!
To answer the question of the title of your video. No SOLO diving the way you do it on this video is not safe. The fact that you get away with it desnt make it safe, it only makes you lucky. \this is not meant as a hater comment, just as a reflexion on some false impresions your video give. You introduce some falacies on the video. For example you mention that you are a diving instructor and you propose that when you are diving with your students you are virtually a solo diver. Well when you are diving with students each student even if not trained to assist you is acting as a redundancy source. Redundant air suply, redundant, buoyancy devices, etc. All things that you have failed to carry with you on this dive. You have racionalizations for your choice but none of them actually work to mitigate the chances of unforseen accident from happening.
Thank you for your feedback.
is doing alright he explain why.
I'm a cave diver in the DR. I have 54 cave dives and almost all are solo dives. Why? There are very few cave divers here and I'm not diving with someone not certified.
We use this often, but recently it hasn’t been working between masks. I think maybe it’s scrambling? How do you select from the menu options? I’ve tried so many different combinations 🫠
You all are amazing!
Thank you!
I like to clip my fins off until I'm ready to don them. I use a leash mainly or in the tropics I use a double ender.
