I love that the RC-5 allows you to fade out and clear in one operation. This is essential for live performance, and very few loopers have that capability.
I just ordered this pedal from Amazon. You are the only person that talked about the Boss backup tracks! That's yet another a cool feature this pedal has. Thanks for the info.
I've found too many buttons, and an lcd can be overwhelming .I purchased a katana with my first electric guitar. I spent more time screwing with settings and modulations than i did playing! Picked up the ir200, and i love it!
Yeah, it's a decent guitar. Certainly not perfect though. The volume knobs are in a weird place and the pickups could be replaced with something a bit better. Anyway, thanks a lot. Enjoy your pedal.
I use to have an rc-5! Loved it! Sold it with some other stuff to get the RC-600! Found that too much for my needs! Sold it! Got an RC-500! Love it and still use it but missed having an RC-5 about and now I re-bought one! Have RC-500 working with Rc-5! You get more flexibility with board space etc. RC-600 is good but I found I hardly used it’s onboard effects because I use my own stuff :)
Great video, I’m new to your channel, but I’m definitely going to listen to more, and subscribe! Real quick, I’m first time buying a looper, looking at the tc electronic ditto plus, you think the boss pedals are better?
You can find a Ditto new? I had to get mine on eBay for $$$. I have about 4 loopers. The RC-5 and the Ditto X2 are great. The RC-5 is a more fully-featured looper but the Ditto X2 is easier to use.
@@andrewsiemon Thanks so much for your reply. After looking it over, with your feedback in mind I think I will go with the Boss RC5, because of the features, and because the sound reproduction is so much better (32 vs 16 bit), that’s a pretty big deal to me. The multiple features have a learning curve, but after thinking about it, more features means greater flexibility, and I like that. Thanks so much for your reply, it really helped. PS I watched more of your videos, love the content on your channel and your playing is fantastic to listen to.
I love the simplicity of the rc 1, my only quam is it doesn't sync with the volca series :/.. Because i like the idea of using a drum machine and synth aloneside live loopering, and automating those aswell..
Yeah i love mine too. Also i picked up a beat buddy, it doesn't loop but the drum linrary is crazy. Plus it has a shit load of songs(drums only) when i give it a second stp it will change to a different part of the song. Its amazing. However the RC5 is will change you into a different level of a guitarist. And the rc5 is affordable too.
I would like rc1 as it's simple to be honest I would never use any of its functions on the rc5 it seems too complex but the rc1 is let down by only being able to store one loop a major drawback for me anyway.
I like the rc-1 better for a simple looping machine. I use it mostly for texture in songs and adding some space. I don’t use it really specifically for the one man band situation
Hello Andrew! Question... I play flamenco so the guitar I have does not have a plug and I'm not sure if I want to convert my guitar into an electro-acoustic. Is it possible to connect the pedal to a microphone in one end and into an amplifier on the other and start doing loops or it has to be an electro-acoustic guitar? Thanks for your channel!
Purchased a Boss RC-5 and the Drum Volume is insanely Loud on every Loop. There is No Global way to reduce the Ear splitting and Speaker-Ruining surge of Drum Volume. Major Flaw. Be Warned.
It's a deal breaker for me. I have a brand new one sitting in the box. I may sell it? I'm very disappointed with No Global Rhythm adjustment. @@andrewsiemon
Great vid, man - I've been considering this pedal for a few weeks now - Ima go pick it up and level up my practice/jam/noodle sessions.

That's something I definitely should mention in my article.
That was a very cool rundown. Thank you.
Appreciate it

Yeah the RC-5 is a great pedal. I was surprised no one mentioned that feature as well.
Very nice explanation. Thank you.

Thanks! I think I’ll be buying one. Bought the same PRS SE, fantastic guitar. Great solo.
Yeah, it's a decent guitar. Certainly not perfect though.

Anyway, thanks a lot. Enjoy your pedal.
Like i said just a second ago...I'll learn on the rc1 and upgrade when I'm competent enough to use it.
Video is super good, but the amp… not that good… lol
lol yeah, I had to take my real amp home.
Reverse? I will use that daily on my gigs 😂

I appreciate that. The RC-5 is a great pedal and I doubt you'll regret it. Have a good week.
hello, the pedal modifies the bpm of the recorded signal when i modify the bpm with the button memory level?
I don't think this is a versus vid but more a RC-5 explanation vid.
Just showing the features of one “vs” the other…so it quite literally is.
Does send it a click of some sort out of the B output?

yeah its a good pedal
Can you loop a mic and a guitar on both. Its 2 channels looper both no?
I don’t think so, although, I could be wrong
Well I have both and the RC5 is a bit more expensive and complicated but it has drums 🥁
Yeah it definitely takes a bit to figure out doesn't it? I'm making a video for the RC-5 now. Trying to make it comprehensive.

I've heard a lot of people mention the Beat Buddy.

Out of all the loopers I own, the only one that can store multiple loops is the RC-5.
I like the rc-1 better for a simple looping machine. I use it mostly for texture in songs and adding some space. I don’t use it really specifically for the one man band situation
Right on, I can appreciate that. Loopers can get quite complicated.
Very informative! With a foot switch can the rc5 delete the last loop on a track?
That's a good question. I wouldn't be surprised if it could.
Have you tried this looper in stereo?
No I have not. Stereo configuration is something I haven't experimented with much.
RC5 for backing tracks
For sure.
Can you play backing tracks with it? Where can I play them in general? (Bought ones created by others)
@@marvinachenbach4883 yes you can its essentially just a recording device when using tracks

That's a great question, I'm not sure. I imagine you would need some kind of XLR cable that's adapter to a 1/4" input.
The distortion on the drum kit is not a plus for the unit. You should get your levels right before you demo.
When I’m performing I found the preloaded drums a pain. I’d rather beat out a simple beat on my banjo head.
Yeah, you need a controller for the RC-5. There's definitely a learning curve and time needed for programming it to your liking.
Surely it's just 4 better 😏🤘

I agree that the drum loops are inappropriately loud by default.

so, the first thing you do is get your Usb PRINTER CABLE (?) to transfer backing tracks...I'm out.
none sens !!
