‼️HELP - HELP!!‼️ So, I bought an 505 mk2, an M Audio Pro 49 - and a Shure SM58 microphone, both the Pro & the mk2 are going into my MacBook Air (new) and Ableton 12 live ….. I have no earthly idea how to get anything to work!! I’ve spent so much $$ on this and can’t even make one sound….its so complicated. If I buy your course, will it show me, step by step how to do everything - like for dummies? 😢 I’m just so sad because I’ve spent so much money (I volunteer with the elderly and just want to make some chill music for them) 🥵 HELP!! BTW - I absolutely LOVE how you’re rocking your hair now!! 🥳 (You can tell I’ve been binging your 505 earlier videos) You inspired me to buy all this, too. 🥳
Good suggestions for small format on pedalboards, but Ben's prior suggestion of the Boss RC-505 mkII with a Nectar Pacer foot controller is still the way to go for the widest range of setups and scenarios, IMO... I'm actually now using the Pacer to control a Headrush Looperboard that I have on desktop and using as a mixer with my stereo pedalboard, Synths, and vocals running into the four stereo channels... This idea came from Ben as well and works like a charm... 🙂
I just wanna give you a big thanks. I sub’d to your channel back when you did your very critical review of the RC-10R. It talked me out of buying that at the time and I kept going with just the built in looper of my multi fx unit. Held out until the release of the RC-500 and was so glad I did. I personally don’t find it too hard to use and I see the logic in its parameter guide but it still kinda amazes me Boss doesn’t have a RUclips playlist of tutorials for it. Maybe they should get someone to do that 🤔😋
Hi Ben, thanks for the video I have the Sheeran plus since tody and I wonder it have a latency if You click undo/redo. The reaction is not instant, it's delayed round about 0,5sec. Do You have the same problem? My Boss RC-1 is much quicker with that function
As bass player looping isn't really my business, but still clicked on the video. maaan these contraptions look like you control a spaceship with them. Hats off to everyone using them to the fullest
What about the budget options for someone not performing but just practicing and seeing if it's something they want to continue with? There are stereo and multi track pedals for $40-120 from the typical Chinese brands - Mooer, M-vave, Donner, Lekato😊
Please check out the Boomerang III. I've tried all the loopers (Ditto, RCx, Aeros, 45k, 22k, Repeater, Infinity etc.) and the Boomerang is far and away the best I've tried.
Loop culture has a significant drawback: the repetitive nature of the one-phrase loop, which can feel uninspiring, even with techniques like muting. In contrast, the Aeros Loop Studio offers the ability to pre-record loops-a game-changing feature that enables you to create contrasting sections, surprising transitions, or subtle embellishments for verses or choruses. This flexibility allows you to experiment with diverse song structures, such as bridges (which I think of as pathways to the next part, like a pre-chorus, C-part, Middle 8, solo section, intro, or outro). While you’ve pointed out some negative aspects of the Aeros, it excels in shaping song structures, making it far superior to other loop pedals for this purpose, even if it’s not ideal for minimalist, "naked" looping.
Prolly coz he didn’t want to make it too long. Sometimes better to break these things up into smaller videos then, but if you want to actually compare them all in one video without searching this would be less exhausting in a way too lmao
I Loved my Aeros looper but the company behind it let me down. i accidently broke my screen so contacted their support several times to buy a replacement. not even a single acknowledgement to my email or a reply.sad really...especially as i bought nearly everything they sell.
@@tomcaron9113These loopers aren't cheap and things are tighter nowadays...very short sighted of companies to treat their customers this way. I've given up on Singular Sound. I still have a beat buddy which I still use but I won't be returning for anything else they'll release in the future.
Have you checked out the Looperboard update ? I also just purchased an RC 505 mk 2 , and I have have the RC-10R doesn’t seem that bad lol , I’m hoping to get good at using them and midi 2 of them together in different combos .

can i import drum patterns into the rhythm memories? notice there is a blank rhythm choice after the metronome. What is that for? RC500
For me separate Exp pedal is the go.. Put it wherever you like and use your preferred style of unit.. But more practical is that the built-ins are always the first thing to fail in my experience.
I'll stick with my TC Helicon GTX. Sure the looping time isn't very long, but the smart harmonies are worth their weight in gold. How do none of these other loopers not have that smart tech for vocals 🤔
I play bass, guitar, sing, and beatbox and I’m looking to buy a pedal under $200 in which I can perform live… it may be an impossible ask but as far as I know, with the help of my laptop, FL Studio as my DAW and my focusrite Scarlett interface, I should be able to do this if I buy an RC 5? I think I’d be able to loop the output of the Scarlett interface which would process the audio from my instrument and microphone inputs, so I can basically loop both at once, does this sound like it’d work? I will also continue my looper research on your channel and website, which are great resources for me right now!
Valeton VLP-200 dual track looper and a mini mixer to extend the inputs of the looper. It would cost around 200$ all together new. You can find a used mixer to reduce the cost. Hope this helps!
Why not Loopy Pro $29.99 on iPad with AirTurn BT500S-6 Analog Controller (using MIDI) $149.00? It is an awesome solution and if you already have an iPhone or iPad it costs less than $200.
Hey Ben. Would you know why does the RC500, when hooked to a MIDI controller, only go up & down in Memory by 1 step at a time when the RC5 goes continuously ? I tried both MOMENTARY or TOGGLE and it makes no difference. Can you help? Thank you
I have one. It’s a great compact looper, build quality is better than boss, and much better pedals. Has a headphone out as well which is useful. It requires a firmware update tbh though. The 2 tracks don’t sync if you aren’t using the drums, it needs an all start/stop and the drums are not varied enough for my taste. Theee is apparently an update coming which will allow you to use the midi in for a midi controller. If they get that right, it will be an excellent option
I’ll attest to the RC-500 having a crap manual and being a handful to figure out. Seems like Boss completely abdicated responsibility and hoped somebody would step up and do the hard work for them. IMO, Boss should include your video course with their pedal and pay you a royalty instead of making us bang our heads against a wall.
i think Boss overshot on the RC-5 and wound up removing useful features from the beautifully streamlined RC-3. yes, i wish it had so many more beats but the dedicated volume wheel was invaluable. too many button pushes for drum volume in there, plus it starts at 100% level no matter what and always needs to be turned down. not good. the NuX Loop Core Stereo beats the RC-5 in of course price but also most other things. and yep- has midi. I too have spent many hours with a bunch of these loopers and in all honesty, every single one falls short of a few key features for me.
I have watched you for a long time! I've had lots of loopers, Ableton, and most were aggravating, sounded like shit, hard to use, had a couple of features that made them unusable. With that being said, is there any one as of 2025 that is bullet proof at any price?
also, youre comparing the sheeran pedal with the Boss ones but youre not mentioning the massive feature flop- no rhythm. sync looping is fine or whatever but just give me drums. i know that my needs are different and i dont require building out comprehensive loops live in real time. but yeah you wont find me slapping my electric guitar to get a kick+snare pattern
I got the RC-10R and I have to admit you are right. I am primarily a songwriter and I just find it too unwieldy to use. At the moment it’s just a relatively expensive practice tool for me…
Holy crap! Can you talk a little faster? My god it's a 45 minute video you could have relaxed a bit, then I wouldn't have had to keep rewinding it. You did cover a ton of stuff but I'm still stuck on the vid you made about running 2 RC-300's (like 4 or 5 years ago) that you left out a pile of info for us that had the same issues with and Boss never covered in the handbook. Got it figured out, but wow what a nightmare. I've since gone away from that and simplified my setup. Thanks anyway.
Slow down and take a breath once in a while - the whole video sounded like the list of adverse effects in a drug ad...you have great info but delivery is lacking.

Thanks for the info good review saved a lot of time and money
No problem 👍

what about like an ipad / ipod with a looper app?

@ no I didn’t, that’s my point. I can’t get through the whole thing.
The best looper is the Singular Sound Aeros Loop Studio

A very Nice review!
TC-Helicon VoiceLive 3 Extreme has a very powerful looper.
i bought the rc5, sold it i regreted it, now i,m buying it again lool
AWESOME BRO!!!!!!!
what i am looking for , is more of a "riff idea lay down - o -matic" pedal, what would you recomend?
hi Ben between the rc-300 and the looper+ What's your favourite? is easy to load drum loops on the sheeran looper and use them live?
