Southern Rock. It's the REAL thing.
This is my favorite song by them with a great message. Great southern rock band from the 60's-80's. It is very sad what happened to this band in losing so many members in a plane crash in 1977. They had lots of great songs such as "Sweet Home Alabama", "Call Me The Breeze", "Tuesday's Gone", "That Smell", "The Ballad Of Curtis Loew", "What's Your Name", "Gimme Three Steps", "Saturday Night Special" etc.

You are hardly the only one who has teared up or cried to this song. The lyrics (and singing) are so simple and clear and yet incredibly meaningful and powerful.
Freebird is the hands-down no-brainer choice if you want to react to a live Lynyrd Skynyrd. The 7/2/1977 show in Oakland is one of the best live rock performances of all-time of any band.
But the 76 Knebworth Free Bird is just a little bit better cause Allen goes off.

Tuesday's Gone is my favorite song by Skynyrd who by the way was my first concert ever in April of 1977 about nine days past my 17th birthday. Ronnie Van Zant wrote songs for the working man.

Melody is the daughter of Ronnie Van Zant (singer for Lynyrd Skynyrd). It's more of a tribute than just covering the song because they liked it. You'll love it!*
I like Hank Williams Jr version better than Shinedowns. Don’t get me wrong I saw Shinedown live perform this song but Hank Jr version is a real vibe
@@jdhoss153 Really? I thought Hank Williams Jr was nice but really slow. There was no "wow" there but there doesn't need to be either. Shinedown gave it something special (to me anyway) by sticking to the original while still giving it something unexpected and special with the notes he hits. Hank Williams Jr is still an icon though.

My young brother, be happy you can still call your mom, I lost mine recently and only WISH I could call her. It happened unexpectedly and fast and there were things I wish had been said when I could! So gs like this make it only worse that I CANT pick up the phone and thank her for all she had done in my life and I can only hope she was proud of the Man I have become. I know she knows that I loved her and there is NOBODY in this world that will ever love you like your momma! Unconditionally. I just wish I would have told her how much I appreciated her. I just hope that where she is, she knows and still sees the product of her unwavering PATIENCE accomplished.

I'm not a man and I never heard this song, but listening to it on the day of my mom's passing 11 years ago, it really touched my heart . Yall , if your mom's still around, respect her and treat her like the goddess she is, because once she's gone, you will be alone in the world, no matter how big your family may be or how many friends you may have, nobody can replace your mom

This song always hits my soul every time. Sometimes when i get stressed I forget about what really matters and what I truly need.. chasing the rich mans gold for example thinking that will bring me happiness, life can get complicated.. but every time I listen to this song it grounds me again like hitting a big reset button, and I realise the things I was focusing on wasn't going to bring me happiness at all its just a distraction from what I truly need in my life.

This is a brilliant review, so many reviewers have not payed attention to the lyrics and completely missed the premise of this song. Its so easy to get caught up in the stresses of modern life getting involved in the rat race.. this song helps you remember that life is not a race, enjoy the moments you are in, take your time to bask in happy times, be a simple man and learn to love yourself for who you are, not for material possessions. Be a good person as said in the song "remember there is someone up above". Be a good man and live a simple ( stress free) life.
Let them tears out. I've cried plenty to this. First time i heard this i was 20 at a friend's funeral. I had already heard them before with "Freebird" and "Tuesdays Gone" but never really checked them out outside of that. I'm 35 now and my brother passed away 3 years ago and he was a "simple man"

Glad to see you appreciate great music. Simple Man is best from the album. Live performances, watch Freebird performed at Oakland CA or Knebworth. Another great song is Cry For the Bad Man performed at Winterland 1976. You can't go wrong listening to any Lynyrd Skynyrd songs. The whole band was blessed with amazing talent never to be seen or heard like them again.

One of many great Skynyrd tunes. You should also check out Simple Man by Bad Company. Not a cover of this song,. It's one of my all-time favorites and a personal anthem of individual freedom and liberty.
