“My skill lies in eating!” Nigella is ❤️
Many years ago I was serving peas at a dinner and I thought “what if I mash them?” I did, and I created this same recipe in the process. It was a hit with everyone! Then I went to England and found they had had them all along! 😸
This has to be one of my favorite Nigella recipes!! Such a quick and easy go to weeknight dinner when the weather starts turning warm and I’m craving seafood.
Now that's what you a cook's fridge.
Not Giada's staged fridge.
Yeah trueee
And Nigella's a hell way more stunning than fake and pretentious Giada
LoserlyCool 👍👍 I like a messy fridge. It makes me feel secure to have all that stuff at the ready. Just like my can pantry. I used to like Giada but since she went all Hollywood and so,it from her husband she doesn't do it for me any more. I like Nigella and Ina Garten.
Everything about Giada is staged. Nigella is the real deal!
I made your mushy peas right after the first time I saw it being done by you. They are absolutely delicious! I make them at least once a month now, and they're delicious with salmon
"I am a city girl. I am not supposed to know these things. My skill lies in eating"
4th of July coming up and tradition in New England is salmon, peas and new potatoes. Perfect timing, now I know how I’ll make the peas...poshy.
That was the world’s quickest dinner
Wow! That looks incredibly yummy!!!! I have to try it!! Thank you, you are wonderful 💖
I will always love Nigella's cooking .
I really enjoyed watching
Nigella's video collection
Thanks so much for a job well done
Cheers

Hey i'd never made mushy peas before oddly enough, and most of the recipes on youtube seemed pretty bland or a bit pretentious in some way. So when i found this recipe i was immediately eager to try it out. Ended up making it a few days ago and everyone was pretty pleased with the result. Coincidentally with some salmons and prawns. Was delish, thanks Nigella! :)
Nigella was the reason I came to enjoy cooking. She removes all the fuss of cooking and fear of messing up by modelling being OK with shortcuts (for 'normal' home cooks like the rest of us plebs), common ingredients, being messy, but still achieving a plateful of delicious food in the end.
❤❤food of Nigella Cook🎉
Looks delicious. Thanks for sharing.
She looks even better now that she’s aged. Like a fine wine 🍷
Most ladies do, look better as they go past 25 and into their 30's and 40's . . . Like you said, a fine wine. V
Lol.. Except this is old footage of years ago.
That's what money will do to you.
Except that this show was back in 2000
@@jackdayton8842 really the exception and not the rule, there's a phrase for it for a reason.
This is so cool and inspiring!
I Love This
Amazing nigella🖤
I love how she calls her strainer her Jean Paul Gaultier 😊
Since when did Jean Paul Gaultier design a colander?
Is that rhyming slang? Lol can someone explain it?
Kjaja07 the cone shape of her strainer matches to infamous cone shape of the brassiere on the corset that Jean Paul Gaultier designed for and was worn by Madonna. A cheeky reference from Nigella!
This is lovely and I like watching Nigella Lawson but oh my this must be about 20 years ago
Skip The creme fraiche try malt vinegar and salt and pepper for that northern flavour
If my salmon steaks actually came out of the pan that juicy and wonderful, I'd fall over dead from the shock before I could ever eat them.
You are amazing! Love you!
ooo i love Nigella and her cooking ,things you can do with frozen peas! love it thanks for the video and greetings from the Nederlands
Love Nigella's cooking always... I think she speaks a lot slower these days than those. Perhaps stung (in a sweet way) by Emmy Rossum's 'Slow Me Down'?
I remembered this episode from years ago and always remembered it. Never seen mushy peas, but the dish looks so delicious, like comfort food but still low carb.
I'm making it this week.
Very good, I lov e all things Nigella Lawson.
I've loved you for so many years. Please come back to new zelaand, I'm from wellington the cotywhere your whittakers chocolate was made! ❤
U look so thin Nigella...not in a bad way nor am I complaining just an observation... I’ve always loved your work. And I even have your cook books. Yes I did buy them and some for presents. I love salmon...yum! And with peas!
I love you so much and love your food 😍😍♥♥❤❤
Her ability to make a dump and go freezer marinade sound elevated astounds me
Hi Nigella ❤
wow
Nigella is my favorite cook, right up there with Julia Child. I always loved watching Nigella's shows!! Her apartment is wonderful. I just love how she cooks and bakes!! I also love how she goes to the fridge at night for a snack of leftovers!!
Damn this lady is the real deal.
1:52 "Which is why I use streaky bacon, not bat facon." Those little slips of the tongue make her even more charming :)
She says "not back bacon"
She said back bacon
What is that powder you added into the boiling pot of peas? Is that a spoon of salt?
I'm going to push through Nigella Lawson's gravitas as a domestic goddess and humbly offer a suggestion. You will get much better results with meat in your deep freeze if you use a vacuum sealer. For marinated meats, freeze them uncovered, individually, and them vacuum seal them when nearly frozen to keep from drawing out the juices.
Does anyone know where I can find the yellow pepper grinder?
Which book is this recipe in the peas and salmon
Can this be cooked and frozen to be enjoyed later 🐰
This recipes are cool no warming.home.food,and the music is.strip tease time😂🤣😂🤣😂
Marry me Nigella,... PLEASE? I promise I'll do ALL the dishes and keep the kitchen clean lol
it is like she got younger
Lol, this was from her very first series nigella bites, like 20 years ago. So yes she is much younger here
Wow she’s young there !!
You know, when I'm in a rush it's usually because I've had a line and it's good for my figure. Roll up a dobey to knock the edge off. Then ask the help " where's that farken pizza?"
I take some of the snark back because I am now in love with Nigela having watched the full video. Christ.
Looks delicious abd yet yummy.. Nice recipe btw. But its definitely healthy option to substitute Skillet grilled Salmon with Fried Fish and fries. Mushy Pea definitely pairs well with Fish and Chips for sure!!! Mmmm. One question : Do I need to add food coloring for mushy peas to make it colorful??????
Well, seeing as most food colorings are flavorless basically, you totally could
No!!!
Just hearing her speak makes you feel elevated.
Nigella, Shigella, same thing 🤪
This dish is actually peasant food
I sense a fellow Modern History TV watcher.
I ate two salmon fillets in a row yesterday
😍👌🌹
Ok
Its old video?
Behold--- the perfect woman!
i have never seen her using salt and pepper
Lol and I always wonder why!!
4:09-4:12?
She has said b4 that she likes to salt and pepper her food at the table so she knows how much she needs
2.49 ...a huge scoop of salt
ciao dall'Italia 😘
Salmon with no seasonings
I thought that mushy peas were only made with marrowfat peas, not garden peas. Is there that much of a difference?
How old was she? 21? Never seen her that young
By jean-paul gaultier 😂
I cannot imagine eating fish without proper seasoning. She didn't even season the salmon. How???
She did. With the salty bacon fat and bacon. Not everything needs to be covered in salt and pepper. Plus it's fresh salmon. No need to over season. Too much salt is unhealthy anyway. 🤷♀️
i put a splash of vinegar in my mushy peas
What the ingredient she added immediately to peas?!
No seasoning? And all those dishes and pots to make peas
I love you
Fair Bloody Dinkum I hate peas.
Isn't this more of a chunky puree?
Ikkkki
Omg NO!!! I'm from the North of Eng. Those are NOT mushy peas 😳
Please explain....
@@DJ.LakeSea from all the videos I've watched on it, this is the first one i found where the peas that were used were frozen. I imagine that's what she is referring to. Although this might be a good way to get me to eat my peas regardless
@@SennyGamingHQ
Actually, according to people from northern England you can only use dried "marrowfat peas" to make mushy peas. (The same peas used to make wasabi peas)
Supposedly they give a creamier, smoother texture, and taste a bit different.
Not enough to really matter, unless you're an idiot.
And I seriously doubt the OP could even tell the difference once they're seasoned.
I don't know how the hell she can find anything in that freezer! 😞
But there is no seasoning on the salmon, they have just been pan-fried in bacon fat?
Nothing posh about those peas. And everyone is falling for it.
Dirty fridge 😆
I would be happy to clean it for her!
It s not dirty, just messy
No salt no pepper
Madeha Yasmeen she used both in the peas lol
She boiled all the nutrition out of the peas
WHO PUTS BACON OVER SALMON?!?!?!
That's not mushy peas
Tell us more. I've never had success making them. Cheers!
@@tomsaaristo6294 What he means is that mushy peas are made from dried peas that are brought to boil (and left to boil) in a minimum of water. the result is a soup-like dish after all the peas have split and the starch has gone into the water. it's like pea risotto. This is just mashed peas.
@@JoeAuerbach I was thinking about dried/soaked peas. The baby peas taste like lawn clippings. I wanted a deeper flavor

Pshh this ain’t real mushy peas. Absolute bullocks. Just kidding I’m American. I have no idea.
LOL!
She didnt season the salmon.
I don’t like bacon
i luv u but get a better camera man making me dizzy
Ahh again Lawson ruins a Northern dish. Bloody creme fraiche in Northern mushy pea's.. No thanks.
