I've lost my grandmother recentely, and the process was like you spoke about your mom.
I saw the most joyfull person losing her strenght without losing her joy. And that was a lesson.

Dirk is an awesome guy to be around. Me and my wife went to lunch with Dirk a couple of Sunday's ago. Good food and conversation and plenty of laughing.
He is as genuine of a person as it gets. That's hard to find in this modern time.

I had the same crossroads about attitude in my 20s. As a mental exercise, I thought about my own 'fun'eral. What would they say about me ? Etc and that got me thinking about being a positive person rather than a low, fun killer. I also used a mental exercise that theres usually a positive to every negative. Great hearing about you experiences Dirk !
Dirk is so incredibly wholesome. This interview made me get my lust for life back and I'm keen to incorporate Dirk's 'philosophy' into my own way of living. Thank you so much for this, Kiko
You guys kill it on the new Megadeth album. This version of Megadeth feels like a band again and that has been missing since the 90's. And I loved all the musicians in Megadeth, but you guys have a synergy that was missing from this band. You have brought new life and energy to Megadeth. I hope to hear a few more albums from this line up before Dave inevitably retires. Thanks you for the new album, it was worth the wait. Great musicians, great people. Love, from the Bronx.

I went through similar in 1997 when my mother died and it is indeed a defining moment in one’s life. Dirk decided to carry on as there really is no other choice. Our time here is finite. Be good, do good, and expect good in return.
I really loved watching this vlog so much , this is really a special interview with the coolest peaceful and beautiful drummer ever . I think Dave is so lucky this time by having such Beau full musicians .
I had no idea that you had your own channel on RUclips. I just found it a few days ago and I am hooked. I love the videos that I have seen so far. I love that your channel covers more than just music like this video. I am 40 years old and I remember back in my late teens all the way to my late 20's that I could get angry very easily. One day I prayed and I was very sincere in my prayer for the Lord to get all the anger out of me because if I kept it up I would die at a very young age. One day out of nowhere I felt very relaxed and peaceful inside. I just did not get angry like I did before. I am extremely thankful that the extreme anger is gone. I still can get mad when certain situations happen but I handle them way different than I did before. Being angry often is very tiring also and it is not worth it. Thanks again for another great video. It is going to take me a some time to go through all your videos but I already know that they are going to be awesome. Kiko as usual you are the MAN!!!!!
Dirk is a polite & smart guy - but he drums like a maniac 😊 & makes it look fun. Love that enjoyment he has with it.

What happened with his mom was very similar to what happened with mine. She always got through the sickness when I was younger, but this time we knew from the begining that the tumor was inoperable. At the end she didn't even had strength to speak. Life is tough man... I miss her very much.

That is wonderful guys .its like when I lost my brother to cancer last November my drummer best friend I can't change it so move on and learn and continue to live.its hard but live sirs
No wonder why the vibe around the band and live performance is amazing. I met you guys in Austin for the release of your album. Dirk and James were very cool. Dave was Dave and I dig that. Kiko you were a little quiet but considering it was pass midnight and coming right off the show, you probably were tired. Excellent video. I will save it and use it to remind myself that is up to me to feel good every day.

Negativity is easy and takes a lot of effort. Being happy is tough for most people. So being negative is the easy way for them.

This video is easily one of my favorites ever. I just had a friend of mine pass away that I have known since we were little kids for close to 40 years. This video always cheers me up every time I watch and listen to it. This current lineup of Megadeth is my favorite ever because one all four are Phenomenal musicians, and two members like Kiko and Dirk are amazing people that you can't help but love because they both have huge hearts. I have been a huge massive fan of Megadeth's for over thirty years ever since their So Far, So Good ,So What album came out . I was barely 10 years old and all these years later they are still one of my all time favorite bands ever.
I lost my mother on 06/03/2019 and from then to here I really am feeling that happiness is a choice. You can be happy even in mourning. You can remember the good times or only in the final period where the disease corroded your mother's body. May we be happy!

Just turned 49, and lost my Mom in 2014. We had a very close relationship and were friends more than anything, as she raised me alone. Cannot begin to tell you how much I relate with every word Dirk said about his Mom. Sounds like a story I would tell, almost perfectly. Before that I had rage, anger and bitterness inside of me...but losing her wiped my slate clean. I was at ground zero. I had to find happiness and reinvent it all. Now, anger is hard to reach. All those bad things that fueled me are gone, and I seek smiles and laughter. Dirk is a very wise man and I recommend everyone listen to this lesson anytime they have a bad day. Thank you, Kiko.

This interview brought up some emotions in me, and made me really think about how similar we all are with problems in life, and the Dirk approach I soon realised is the path I am trying to take with out even realising it. that is until I hear someone else talking about it. Music is my solace, no matter what genre, it transports my mind to a happier state. Thanks for opening up like this, I felt good after this. Good sad, but happy, if that makes sense... Best of luck with the new album, I predict another award for this one. As for Dave's situation, I send love and prayers because my dad had a stroke and was told he had cancer, a double blow to my life because the two top men in my life are now having to battle. Cheers, Adam. Ps...I live very far away from all of you, but your passion has reached me, and it is amazing!

"The metal face" hahahaha!! Hilarious. I met Dirk the evening of his first show with Megadeth the day after Nick Menza passed away. Great guy, and of course he had on a constant smile, was super down to earth and played an awesome show. Kiko was of course Kiko and very friendly as well. Two down to earth, great people here in this video.

Life is short and any day could be the last... Having this simple reflection in mind is the key of happiness because happiness is to live the present and not caring about past or future... It´s not so simple to not think about the future... You feel worries, fear, uncertainty but sometimes you suddenly notice like a "hey if i die tomorrow all these stupid things I am worry about are meaningless!". I remember some quote from John McLaughlin website which said "Happiness don´t come to us... we have to choose happiness everyday"... or something like that... You have not to expect for a brighter future to come.. just enjoy the present you are living... thats all...

Great filosofy of life. Takes lot of maturity to reach this. I was already his fan, I was at 2017 Sao Paulo's Brazil concert and he was AMAZING, an energy that I haven't seen live yet.
