Ideally the open world raid would be hard to fail, but have mechanics that allowed the players to get better rewards for doing better.
Open world raids was the biggest move. That will get people to “try out a raid” with out trying out. A way of getting experiance with the raid outside of a raid.
your pvp reference is spot on. Ive done everything in pve and thought I wanna try pvp since I havent done that at all except on launch. I thought Im pretty good player mechanically since I just did cerus legendary etc. Well, i wasnt. I died like a noob, got flamed and I loved it. Competive pvp lets go, qued into another game and same 2 guys absolutely destroyed us.
I was born from the toxic pits of counter strike, starcraft and dota so I was ready for it. Later I found these 2 players were apparently one of the best eu players just trolling noobs. Imo its the best thing that can happen in ranked, you get to see how good players actually are. I once played cs game vs. zywoo and few another from vitality and it was the best game I have ever had. We got farmed but I actually got the reference what is good and what is not.
Anyways, pve noob here blasting in pvp and just got into 1550 rating. Learning is super fast when you get to play agaisnt players that are good. Rank grind is dull and fucking boring if its only about killing noobs or having 2 afks in your team and you loose. pvp que in gw 2 is brutal but it forces you to get good if you wanna prog trough ranks. Is there any other game where you get to experience pro level of play as a noob and get motivated by it? Hell no, you need to farm ranks for 10 years to have one chance to face someone who is actually good in video games. Not in gw 2 lol and thats awesome.

I'm hoping that if the 50 man open world raid is a success, Anet will go ahead and implement it on the other raid wings 👀
They will not have resources to do that. They will have to do it for new maps / expansions
I wish they'd even go back and do it for existing metas.
Imagine a 40man raid Tarir that's better tuned to structured groups. Sometimes it's a bit sad that most metas are becoming a faceroll.

@@proklet4694 I wish they would spend more time improving on existing assets instead of inventing new ones. There are a lot of things that could use an update but they aren't being touched anymore because they're connected to older maps.
Do you know what a nice suprise would be? You can do the open world raid in a private group and it gets a cm version with leaderboard just like the convergences
They need to slow down pvp immensely... I really enjoyed it back in the pre HoT days. But when more and more Elite Specs came in, PvP became less and less attractive. Just too mutch stuff happening, no clue what is what and i'm getting exploded without even knowing what hit me.
That's why i stopped too. There's no in between; You cc first you win, you get cced you lose and that's it, everyone hits so hard that there's no chance for anything.
I think Octovine could be a good template, too, in terms of mechanical difficulty.
Convergence CMs is the kind of content I’ve been saying Anet has been needing to make for years. So happy with it.
Laranity, I've played over 2000 games of pvp and come out the other end still nontoxic and still enjoying the mode. It is possible! Just go in with the determination to have fun and improve with every game, give your team advice in the chat when they need it, don't let the toxicity of others set you off (though you seem pretty good at staying unphased) and have a blast! The combat when you really get into pvp is more intricate and deep than anything else in this game, I hope you get to appreciate that at some point.
Btw: I'm gold 2-3 soloqueue after that many games. It's a grind and it's hard to reach the top, so don't expect to be the best right away. But it's still fun, and I find the small wins everywhere: in anticipating & blinding another player's CC, in hitting the stealthed player with a lucky wrench throw, etc, and over time it all starts to make sense. I'll get to plat one of these days, mark my words.

to be fair , pvp makes the game way more fun specialy for people who don't care about the legendary grinding and the non existent endgame , me and my friends spent all day playing wvw and pvp without being bored at all compared to pve gold farming , if they add more wvw maps updates and pvp , the game will have a very good balance for the community , not everyone should be directed to pve content for gold farming , i mean who plays an mmo and the first thing they get in mind is "i would love do this for 50 gold for the rest of my journey' , so this expac im very hyped since they finaly touched the pvp stuff and we getting the alliance thing , i can see anet cooking a little bit.
Teapot is right, soto encounters almost all feel like hitting a training dummy :/

regarding open world content: I'd like to see proper and new map design. SotO was below Arenanet's level of map design. I felt zero urge to explore or even return to the maps of that expansion.
This would be an important personal focus for me. Having several level of depth/height within the landscape. Even though we have aerial mounts to use new maps should encourage to use aquatic or land mounts.
I can only speak for myself:
I'd return to the game once more, as I did a few times already, but not because of the new content and the hype that comes along BUT for Arenanet actually fixing core issues with the class I enjoyed playing the most.
Because after exploring new maps, weapons and raids what is left is the very core of the game: the gameplay of your class and weapon.
Arenanet demonstrating the willingness to listen to player feedback and actually change it for the better, only then I'd consider a permanent return.
Because the "overperforming / underperforming" are mere words. Tweaking the numbers of course makes or breaks a class/weapon but you gotta make real changes too, so it feels different.
For me: fix staff ele. I don't want it to be a sitting duck anymore. It is too slow and the mechanics of the weapon are dated. (but ele has even more issues, conjures, traits, being low hp etc)
For others: I can't tell, but I am sure there are a number of people that are a 'lil frustrated with the fact their favorite class/weapon is seeing absolutely no love.
May be people think this is totally unrelated to the new expansion but I am sure you can follow my train of thoughts.
Not that I want to derail the hype train but first get the basics right...
I would play PvP all the time if they introduced a CTF game mode; that'd be so much fun.
Speaking of Ele spears, I would love it if spear is a giga Chad weapon for Weaver. I want to like weaver so much more but none of the weapon sets feels exactly right to me.
Just though of it, but would doing something like the game Smite be nice for the new pvp mode ?

What if we get like 3 or 4 teams in PvP or like a PvPvE type mode maybe. Maybe just gut the WvW map section nobody touches anymore and modify it to a PvP instance allowing people to get those things there too.
most people don’t realize that abet hired a developer from the SIMs franchise. so player housing might be a lot like enshrouded game play if we’re lucky. i just hope we can utilize useless trophies for exchange for materials for crafting. and im curious how this will effect player storage in bank

Rewards. I did dragon's end over and over for the Soo Wan legendary appearances. I'll raid my ass off for a beautiful reward. But no reward? Probably won't even try it
PvP issue isn’t population, they just don’t want to enter PvP due to the nerfs to skills and catering to dmg builds, regen gets nerfed massively, no food buffs etc, so you are better off just pvping in WvW. Not only that but you can get x3 supports, x3 thieves, 1 support vs 5 glass dps, there is no organization. Issue isn’t the game mode, it’s the game play. Plenty people are there to “hit the PvP button” as you said, but they don’t have a reason to.

Nah man...when a silver ranked player queues and gets matched against platinum and legendary players, there's not enough people online...it's a very high skill floor, but to say the game play isn't good just means you don't know how to play pvp...there's just not enough bodies in the mode...

Now, as far as the Q goes, yes there are plenty people I have played since the launch of this damn game, there has damn near ALWAYS been plenty around to PvP. It’s not population when you got 100 people sitting afk in PvP lobby. It’s not pop when your silver gets matched with a plat, that’s gw2 matchmaking for you. It doesn’t categorize your rating despite what they say. I can literally play at my prime time, and get silver players with myself or other platinums. Happened for years. It doesn’t work.

Imagine open world raid where the third boss has AoE lifesteal so the more players are around him the harder it is to kill him xD and sure most players won't know about that and won't read the description below the boss' name. So by the time they get to the 3rd boss there's already a lot of players on the map and they are all like LETS GOOO and gather all around the boss making him unkillable.

I've been playing this game for 3 months and I started the game on Steam. I had problems with many issues, I cannot enter the game when the Steam servers crash. This expansion is coming and they are not putting the Ultimate version on Steam. I requested support via e-mail. They said that the Ultimate version will not come to Steam users, but if you want, you can upgrade to the Deluxe version when the expansion comes out in August. I'm not the only one who wants this, my friends want the ultimate version too. Why can't we get this? I've enjoyed the game so far, but what I say will always be valid for Steam users. We are constantly experiencing trouble. They put the Ultimate version on their website but not on Steam. Why can't we get it? There is discrimination among players. It's really ridiculous.
So stop using Steam. The game launcher is great, I've never ever had a server issue.
I have steam and play gw2 on official launcher, why can you not do the same? you even need launcher account to claim some gift codes so no down side
That's a Steam problem and not an Anet one. The 4k gems discount is not valid with steam
@@fullmetalathlete bro i played 3 months on steam accound and have 900+ hours on that. Have legendaries, 6x character with fully ascended gear and when i went to any raid,strike, frac, i can fill with it. Why would i do that? They don't transfer our Steam accounts to their own launcher either

Auric Basin is one of the better examples of meta events. I hate maps that only exist for a meta, or worse, reset when it's done. That is god awful.
I don't get this thing with ele: are staff and scepter not ranged? I am confused why people keep asking for this when their main two weapons are ranged.
I just hope the revenant spear isn't ranged. I want a melee spear for rev.

So at the end of the day what people want is a ranged POWER DPS weapon for ele, staff is relegated to support in PvE (although it is DPS in WvW ofc).
Scepter could work and is actually quite powerful for condi builds, but players want that classic mage blaster roleplay that is associated with ele that hasn't exactly been around since staff weaver.
There is also quite an interesting conversation to be had about design because 2 of the 3 elite specs for ele are essentially melee oriented (tempest and cata) which further increases complexity when it comes to providing the experience players are looking for.
@@MightyTeapot is fire attunement on staff not power dps? Couldn’t they buff meteor shower or something to make it work?
@@Jakerunio They could do that, but that doesn't seem to be the design direction anet wants to go in with staff. They also don't really want you ever camping one element on ele.
@@MightyTeapot I think camping fire is the role play the ele mains want, though. They want to be the fire wizard. They could easily just make the build fire//air, though. The weapon skills are there and just need number tweaks, no? Also plenty of staff heal tempests camp water anyways, I don’t think anet can stop it even if they try.

They could rework the fifth line (arcane, soul reaping etc) and make it the " core elite spec " so its not balance apocalypse because it cant interact with other elite specs
