Basically, they're finally closing the pending stories from Guild Wars 1. First, the mysterious floating castle. Closed. Next, Janthir and the White Mantle. Always the toughest opponents from both Guild Wars. After this, we'll probably jump back to Cantha. A pretty good timing since they halted the Cantha story, it would be a great time to go back to it next year and tie in GW1 and GW2. After that, more Elona again. Before they finally move on to fresh GW2 content. A good move. Fan service for GW1 players, at the same time, it's a new story for GW2-only players.
Ok, now we can see what happened to (not actually) Kuunavangs brother, the baby salt spray that the random guy in Nightfall had found. Make him, the dragon, a villain with some crazy ideology trying to bring back abaddon for some wild reason. have him defeat us and succeed by the end. Next expac brings back the gods to help us. Now we have a link to their planet/ realm
Your comment sounds good to me, but isn't the blood legion homelands also gw1 nostalgia technically. Because of all the wars with the Charr and the lore. Would be cool to explore ALL of it. It's a big piece of land
Theoretically that might be possible if you only have a handful of characters. I have 30+ on my main account, and I know of people that have 60+. Not betting on it either way.

Like up to 3 alts will show up in your home, but every time you load in or every daily reset, it randomly chooses from the pool. It's probably possible, but also likely a lot of work to maintain and easy to break.

Very nice video, I'm excited about player housing too! Also as someone whose been playing MMOs for 20+ years it is really refreshing to see the widespread acknowledgement that raiding is only done by a minority of the players. For years, game journalists and a vocal minority touted the incorrect claim that raiders were the majority of MMO players, and they had too much influence on developers (who ignored their own game metrics), while resources were spent on extensive raid content most customers had no interest in doing. I have nothing against hardcore content, only the years that were wasted with MMO developers mistakenly believing they could turn everyone into hardcore raiders and designing games around that. Now with more and more Twitch and RUclips streamers, raids serve an additional purpose of marketing by engaging dedicated streamers like Lara to give more exposure of the game. Plus, as the video points out, ArenaNet has figured out a good solution allowing the assets of raids to be available to more of their customers. After all this time, it's nice to see developers getting things right.
FINALLY i can actually potentially care about all the cool "guild decorations" in the game that i never even gave a thought to before (assuming and hoping we will be able to use them in our house)
There's gardens outside.... so maybe nodes, at least a few will be transfer. Also, it seems that there's a workshop too. As scribe who fully decorated 2 halls, I recognize all decorations featured in the video (minus those round stone tiles on the floor).... so most likely scribe decorations will either become salable on the TP (cross fingers!!! would be amazing to make money out of scribing instead of being a huge gold sink)... OR account bound but usable in our homes/guild halls if you are a scribe.
They actually confirmed on the forums that there will be a new crafting profession for Homestead decorations? Very curious to see how it will work exactly! Home instance nodes are confirmed to be carrying over :)

Player housing? My deranged Reaper will be demanding many skulls and bookshelves. And Metal Legion posters. I will try to restrain him from crafting a shrine to Scarlet Briar ("I CAN fix her!"). But now he'll have to decide which murder stick to use: Greatsword or Land Spear?
New to gw2 just bought the complete bundle taking advantage of the huge sale discounts i hope one day they either add a samurai class or samurai weapon in-game I hope they do that would be amazing
I have to say, I love spears. It always annoys me when medieval-adjacent games don't have the knife-on-a-stick without a really good reason. They are absurdly effective against beast and man alike, and they are really easy to make. I'm also excited for player housing, the home instance right now is kind of meh, very spread out and not really a home.

For the Warclaw, I heard Anet wanted to do a wall crawling mount and planned for it to be a spider. But it triggered arachnophobia and was scrapped. I wonder if warclaw will climb walls...
it's actually what I was thinking too with the warclaw. right now it's not that unique or useful, the only reason ppl get it is for wvw and only cuz no other mounts work there. but if they make it wall climbing, it would be super useful for wvw too especially for desert borderland which got soooo many insanely high cliffs. hopefully it is this!
@@Insig385 would definitely add a new dimension to WvW. If the spider had any web shooting abilities, it would also translate to warclaw pretty easily. Just connect a rope to the spear tossing ability that dismounts opponents, use it like a grappling hook. Or the gate pulling ability warclaw already has.

We know the IBS had a story to tell and was cut short, I wonder if Anet is reusing some of the story of the Norn/Kodan and Charr from IBS in Janthir Wilds.
I hope they did not clone scribbing, because there are many problems with that. I hope the devs read and took notes from what many have said over the years on the forums about the issues with scribbing and how to improve the system and made those improvements in this new homestead system, but until i see it i just can't be believe they've actually done it since they ignored scribbing for years! but since its primarily a solo instance and not multiplayer we'll see if the thing they said were reasons for having issues in guildhalls is carried over or not to homesteading.
GW2 is my 3rd MMO i've ever played (since it's release actually). The previous 2 didn't have Housing system, so Ive never experienced it, BUT it's pretty common to read about people really excited about it. Can please anyone explain to me what's the alure about that? The interest for those escapes me. Thank you.
i hope they go back and make open world versions of all the raids too, i have done most of them (apart from underworld) and i think everyone should be ablwe to access these stories, so i think they should go and backport the old raids into this system too. If Anet wants to keep certain gear drops or raid legendary armor to raids and not open world, just don't have them drop from the open world versions.
"Much more interesting for speed running" sums up the entire reason as to why Raids are not popular. A lot of people were interested and capable but kids in them were running around like they've popped a few to many ADHD pills.. next, next, next. Here's a hint.. most people don't want to *rush* so they never bothered after a few. This new direction sounds very promising.
The #1 expansion I want to see is GW2: Controller Support, lol. Most of the time I just want to sit back with a controller and chill. I can't do that in GW2.
5:20 people that don't care about it at all. it will be interesting to see if they make decs drop like you said from world bosses and if thsoe drops are account bound or tradable because one way to make it somewhat worth it to raiders who don't care at all about housing is to make it a pay day from them. being able to sell drop or recipe plans on the tp is one way to keep them engaged. but again this all depend on how anet does it( cough cough fishing pong- not what was expected. 4 garden plots vs many plots in the ground cough cough) and my god i hope they didn't just add a raid wing to please them because all drops are account bound. being account bound really takes away from the opportunities this system has to grow in some aspects.
Yes. It's the same weapon, it just can also be equipped in normal weapon slot as well. That said, you need to have 2 spears if you want to use it on land and in water simultaneously.
My Personal Expansion thingy would be underwater stuff reworked and Focus around it plus some PvP focused stuff ..... so idk If im actually hyped about this Expansion since nothing on it i realy want xp.
First update will be amazing for sure, second update might be good if the raid is polished and the story within epic. About the 3rd and 4th update, though... I think it will still be quite "meh" like in SOTO, but hopefully the ending of the storyline will be epic enough and final map engaging. I think it will be the reoccurring fate of 3rd and 4th update to be "bad", or rather the quantity of stuff added being less and less, so the next expansion's launch can be awesome. But I'm excited for the entire expansion, I'm not complaining 😊
We will see just "how big" housing will be. So far it seems like just being able to decorate your home instance which is on the small side of things the bare minimum of what people wanted. On the large side it would be being able to have multiple homes at once, meaning they will be rolling out homes in the future, how often? Fast - every qtrly release? or slow- every xpac :( Also along with a "big system" having the new homstead system integrated into different game modes, being able to collect drops or plans from different areas of the games. Dungeons for instance could drop plans plus even buy more with dungeon currencies. And also give new meaning to those cheap old minis or currencies no one uses in game to spark new life on the tp by being needed for mats for decs. but again, just how "BIG" the new homsteading system is , will be a wait and see. From what they've done in the past, i can't get that excited yet. Because getting excited usually means getting disappointed!
I expect housing to be overhyped before and close to irrelevant after release. I've never seen housing in an MMO that had any real impact. New raid is hype, they gotta bridge it for the "Singleplayer" players somehow.
I think housing is one of those systems you'll either care about a lot, or not at all! I don't really expect it to be required for anything, but some players love stuff like that
@dfg12382, I guess you missed the part of the announcement that said the new Raid will also include a open world version that everyone can enjoy, like a meta event, so solo players can experience the Raid story, without having to play in an organized instance, like current Raids and Strikes are currently played.
Eso house are great just they're more like a guild hall, like usually one member will buy all the crafting stations to put in set their in ite list to guild and another member will do buffs. Other then that houses In gw2 will only be used by ppl that like decoration, useless for everyone else. They'll only be fun if we have better decorating controls like other pc mmo's. Which I never understood why they went with the controls we got for guild halls they're horrible.
@@traveling.down.the.road56 Yea but rather than making another "you cant fail-meta" that you just grind down I'd prefer giving better entry points to organized raiding. There are a lot of players that are actually interested in raiding but they won't bother as they don't have any KPs (Like I did for 2 years with Strike CMs until I made my own static for it, but not every player will want to put that effort).
...but you know no matter what, some players will still downplay every expansion and get plucked about how it didn't meet their expectations. i for one am excited for the new way they will deliver expansions in itself. but even if i didn't completely enjoy SOTOcompared to previous ones, i still got some content that were A+ like the Astral Rewards format is great and very motivating. and the new weapon mastery for new game play and prospective builds to try. my point is there are already some criticizing the content based on just the trailer (which wasn't that bad, though nothing great compared to previous ones) when it isn't even out yet. can't please everyone. i know. what i am excited for Janthir is the expansion of the lore. new Tyrian map (how long has it been?). im not really all that giddy for the housing and i predict will not engage with it similar to how i just neglect home instances. i feel like the housing is just money-maker (more than skins are already such) for A-net. But they still gotta pay their bills.
EOD was EPIC ....SOTO was pretty much meh for me that I even stopped playing after sometime..... lets hope the new expansion will spark my energy back to playing GW2

Man i loved Guild Wars 1 and its lore. But im someone who struggles with getting into GW2 and I've tried for years to get into it. I need to find RUclipsr who will talk GW2 lore to me for 8 hours 😭
Including Lara, there’s a few other content creators who regularly make GW2 lore videos that are very good. Some of them are also very knowledgeable about the original Guild Wars lore. You could watch all of them and probably get the 8 hour lore experience you are looking for.
Player housing seems cool but onowing GW2 it will cost 10,000 gold and yoy will need 60 hours kf hording items plus 60 hours of achievements and missions before you can get it 😢
Not to burst everyone's bubbles but its too early to tell if anything will be good. Realistically I don't see anything really changing. Raids will still be played by less then 10%, land spears won't really be used that much, homestead just to create another gold sink with 0 real functionality (outside of faster home node gathering) the warclaw although nice to have slightly more useful skills for pve will still not be taken much cuz skyscale/griffin/roller beetle supremacy. The main thing this expansion has for it is the features at least are new and expansion worhty. Where soto felt core changes sold as features. Still a must buy(at least standard) just don't get too sucked in by hype anet cant live up to
Im going to be honest they kinda lacking on this expansions, feels there is a lack of creativity, idk if everything being used for GW3 but SoTo was already meh expansion and this one so far doesnt look too bright.

4:25 Woah woah, we'll see down the road if we will be able to "properly decorate" our own homes. from what anet has said on their website that is not clear, from what 3rd party sites have said- it would suggest that more so true, but still "properly decorate" will be anets take on it and probably not like other games. So if not like other games then i can't say "properly" decorate. because its def not "properly" garden the way anet did garden plots or "properly" fish they way they did fishing. the more info we get about the new system- (yea didn't know there was a "new system" from anets mouth) we will see.
Pity there is no improvement to WvW 😮😮😮 I NEVER raid. This expansion doesn't appear to have much benefit to my game play as I do 95% WvW. That's about on average 2 to 3 hours of gameplay every day of the week.

As someone who has played form day one nothing in this trailer was spectacular the trailer was extremely tame showed no real information and other then player housing witch feels far to late at this point it was very underwhelming now say they added all this stuff back when hots came out i would of agreed with you but after Soto story ending being as bad as it was im very much under hyped for this next expansion even the area its self looked really boring.

The #1 expansion I want to see is GW2: Controller Support, lol.
Most of the time I just want to sit back with a controller and chill.

5:20 people that don't care about it at all. it will be interesting to see if they make decs drop like you said from world bosses and if thsoe drops are account bound or tradable because one way to make it somewhat worth it to raiders who don't care at all about housing is to make it a pay day from them. being able to sell drop or recipe plans on the tp is one way to keep them engaged. but again this all depend on how anet does it( cough cough fishing pong- not what was expected. 4 garden plots vs many plots in the ground cough cough) and my god i hope they didn't just add a raid wing to please them because all drops are account bound. being account bound really takes away from the opportunities this system has to grow in some aspects.

Yes. It's the same weapon, it just can also be equipped in normal weapon slot as well.
That said, you need to have 2 spears if you want to use it on land and in water simultaneously.
Been watching and enjoying your GW2 content for a long time. Honestly i think you should try BDO too,

My Personal Expansion thingy would be underwater stuff reworked and Focus around it plus some PvP focused stuff ..... so idk If im actually hyped about this Expansion since nothing on it i realy want xp.

First update will be amazing for sure, second update might be good if the raid is polished and the story within epic.
About the 3rd and 4th update, though... I think it will still be quite "meh" like in SOTO, but hopefully the ending of the storyline will be epic enough and final map engaging.
I think it will be the reoccurring fate of 3rd and 4th update to be "bad", or rather the quantity of stuff added being less and less, so the next expansion's launch can be awesome.
But I'm excited for the entire expansion, I'm not complaining 😊
Hope the next update brings us romanic companions like in swtor, then gw2 would be my perfect game
We will see just "how big" housing will be. So far it seems like just being able to decorate your home instance which is on the small side of things the bare minimum of what people wanted. On the large side it would be being able to have multiple homes at once, meaning they will be rolling out homes in the future, how often? Fast - every qtrly release? or slow- every xpac :( Also along with a "big system" having the new homstead system integrated into different game modes, being able to collect drops or plans from different areas of the games. Dungeons for instance could drop plans plus even buy more with dungeon currencies. And also give new meaning to those cheap old minis or currencies no one uses in game to spark new life on the tp by being needed for mats for decs. but again, just how "BIG" the new homsteading system is , will be a wait and see. From what they've done in the past, i can't get that excited yet. Because getting excited usually means getting disappointed!
I'm hoping for a place to let our mounts roam around the homestead, but that's wishful thinking
I expect housing to be overhyped before and close to irrelevant after release. I've never seen housing in an MMO that had any real impact. New raid is hype, they gotta bridge it for the "Singleplayer" players somehow.
I think housing is one of those systems you'll either care about a lot, or not at all! I don't really expect it to be required for anything, but some players love stuff like that
@dfg12382, I guess you missed the part of the announcement that said the new Raid will also include a open world version that everyone can enjoy, like a meta event, so solo players can experience the Raid story, without having to play in an organized instance, like current Raids and Strikes are currently played.
Eso house are great just they're more like a guild hall, like usually one member will buy all the crafting stations to put in set their in ite list to guild and another member will do buffs. Other then that houses In gw2 will only be used by ppl that like decoration, useless for everyone else. They'll only be fun if we have better decorating controls like other pc mmo's. Which I never understood why they went with the controls we got for guild halls they're horrible.
@@traveling.down.the.road56 Yea but rather than making another "you cant fail-meta" that you just grind down I'd prefer giving better entry points to organized raiding. There are a lot of players that are actually interested in raiding but they won't bother as they don't have any KPs (Like I did for 2 years with Strike CMs until I made my own static for it, but not every player will want to put that effort).
It's a half expansion at most, like soto. I will not be tricked again. I'll wait until it's at an appropriate price for what we're getting (half off)

...but you know no matter what, some players will still downplay every expansion and get plucked about how it didn't meet their expectations. i for one am excited for the new way they will deliver expansions in itself. but even if i didn't completely enjoy SOTOcompared to previous ones, i still got some content that were A+ like the Astral Rewards format is great and very motivating. and the new weapon mastery for new game play and prospective builds to try. my point is there are already some criticizing the content based on just the trailer (which wasn't that bad, though nothing great compared to previous ones) when it isn't even out yet. can't please everyone. i know. what i am excited for Janthir is the expansion of the lore. new Tyrian map (how long has it been?). im not really all that giddy for the housing and i predict will not engage with it similar to how i just neglect home instances. i feel like the housing is just money-maker (more than skins are already such) for A-net. But they still gotta pay their bills.

EOD was EPIC ....SOTO was pretty much meh for me that I even stopped playing after sometime..... lets hope the new expansion will spark my energy back to playing GW2

@@DespicableMe007It’s not just you. SotO started out great, but for me, it got boring almost immediately after the initial story chapter. I think the next expansion will be much better from start to finish.
@@traveling.down.the.road56 The main reason EOD was epic that devs spent a lot of time developing it .... SOTO was made in a rush and was more like a DLC rather than an expansion .... I really hope Janthir Wilds is worth buying .... I will pre order as always anyway haha

Including Lara, there’s a few other content creators who regularly make GW2 lore videos that are very good. Some of them are also very knowledgeable about the original Guild Wars lore. You could watch all of them and probably get the 8 hour lore experience you are looking for.

Man I really wish I could enjoy raids but the many insta-kill mechanics combined with (partial) colorblindness makes it almost impossible for me :(

Not to burst everyone's bubbles but its too early to tell if anything will be good. Realistically I don't see anything really changing. Raids will still be played by less then 10%, land spears won't really be used that much, homestead just to create another gold sink with 0 real functionality (outside of faster home node gathering) the warclaw although nice to have slightly more useful skills for pve will still not be taken much cuz skyscale/griffin/roller beetle supremacy.
The main thing this expansion has for it is the features at least are new and expansion worhty. Where soto felt core changes sold as features. Still a must buy(at least standard) just don't get too sucked in by hype anet cant live up to

Im going to be honest they kinda lacking on this expansions, feels there is a lack of creativity, idk if everything being used for GW3 but SoTo was already meh expansion and this one so far doesnt look too bright.

4:25 Woah woah, we'll see down the road if we will be able to "properly decorate" our own homes. from what anet has said on their website that is not clear, from what 3rd party sites have said- it would suggest that more so true, but still "properly decorate" will be anets take on it and probably not like other games. So if not like other games then i can't say "properly" decorate.

Pity there is no improvement to WvW 😮😮😮 I NEVER raid. This expansion doesn't appear to have much benefit to my game play as I do 95% WvW. That's about on average 2 to 3 hours of gameplay every day of the week.
What you are talking about? The new matchmaking system is huge and caused a big impact on WvW guilds.
@@HazelTrenare-yv3zn The change you are talking about is NOT part of the expansion as it starts next week and does not rely on WvW players purchasing the next GW2 Expansion. Also the expansion is released this coming August and as far as I can tell there is no real change to WvW in it.

Imagine being excited for a weapon. When you used to get classes or specs. Last expansion where lazy. I got out before End of Dragons when I saw no Ritualist even mentioned and Jade turned onto puke crystals.

As someone who has played form day one nothing in this trailer was spectacular the trailer was extremely tame showed no real information and other then player housing witch feels far to late at this point it was very underwhelming now say they added all this stuff back when hots came out i would of agreed with you but after Soto story ending being as bad as it was im very much under hyped for this next expansion even the area its self looked really boring.
