Necros in GW2 are Tyria's Goths/Punks/Moshers: we look scary but we're nice people! We just think we can fix Scarlet Briar (by taking her to a Metal Legion concert).
With the new fashion inspect I love doing metas and just inspecting everyone and then picking a "winner" and whispering them that they got the best drip in the squad. :D
Commanders don't get any practical benefits for leading a squad in pve. Say thank you when they work hard to make sure everyone suceeds! If you have a ton of gold you can even mail them a few as a tip, although no commander will ever expect that.
Thank you!!! I feel so appreciated 🥹 I'll usually have at least one person thank me but out of my years of commanding, I think I've only had 3 people actually give me a tip. My favorite time was when I was just leading a HP farm in HoT and most of them were noobs. I loved them, it was like taking care of babies in the best possible way. And when we were done after several hours, one of them sent me 2g and a heartfelt thank you letter, I nearly passed away from my heart growing 5 sizes. I still talk to 2 of them to this day, noobs are so precious 🥰

Oh I remember one day when the Steam launch happened and a group of vets were waiting in Queensdale. This one newer player came up to us and asked what was going on, why were there so many people gathered. This guild group of 3 people approached them and all said in caps "WE'RE HERE TO HELP YOU NEW PLAYER!! WELCOME!!" All they responded with was "umm..." and then the four of them ran off together. It was hilarious to see. I really hope it gave a good first impression for that player as to the kind of community GW2 has. They came on a bit strong, but from a humor's standpoint, but their hearts were in the right spot.
Im whispering every single one that has the Facet of prisms and boundless light title because its such an amazing feat and shows real dedication and lots of gold but anyone who can do the JPs and events over and over again for every single variant is the true Chad of GW2
@@traveling.down.the.road56 what do you mean MIA? Absolutely wrong. He's making videos all the time. He just made a video recently about the reveal of the new expansion. Before that he played through Soto. It's just that he takes breakes sometimes. That's ok. He's a person, he has a life. He doesn't have to do RUclips 24/7. Sometimes people get tired. He also likes to play other games from time to time. That's fine too. Every possible release of content in gw2 he covers thoroughly every time. In fact in a recent video he said he doesn't plan on stopping playing gw2 or making videos of gw2 any time soon, so your claim is completely false.
My Unwritten rule is if you see a player, new player especially with no Mastery Points by their name in a Low-Level Zone doing a Hero Point, give them some Boons and assist, but don't attack the HP Miniboss until you see the player about to die so that they can get a feel for the combat, if they do die then sweep the HP Boss and revive them so they get the point and maybe give them some tips, most importantly /bow and wish them goodluck!
I dunno if this counts as a rule or just not being rude. DO NOT afk at events or areas where events may spawn. The event scaling in gw2 is atrocious, probably 100% per player. It is especially bad at farming points, so yeah, people who go to specific locations to grab specific things, please be adequate and gtfo when you're done. I've seen 83lvl elites at first Pact outpost event because of the mama wywern farmers way too many times by now... Also, do leave the party/squad when you leave the game, don't just alt+f4. The system considers you might just get disconnected and keeps your dead body in so you literally force people to kick it.
I don't get wasps on the mouse pad, just a cat who wants to play or sleep right there. And he's taken years to be overtly open, so I dont want to discourage it much.
I don't know if this is as relevant since the chance to the Dailies, but if you're chasing events in a zone announce when you find one and link the closest Waypoint. Most likely there are others looking for events, too.
WvW edition: Don't throw siege if there is a tag, if you want to contribute you can mail it to the tag. 1,1,1 Dolyaks let other people get a hit in. See an enemy zerg or a t3 under attack, call it out in map or team chat. Don't take the Dragon Banner on a defense unless you know what you are doing. Don't use the siege if you don't have some ability points in siege might. Last of all do not engage with the crazies in team chat, just block and move on.
2:50 I would say that's a relic of the time when the Game was completely new and everyone was coming from gw1. We we're SO Happy that we could finally jump that most did this all the time Just because we could. Dann coming from GW1 that was an actual selling point
Bein nice to newbies is underrated in my opinion, when my brother started the game people who met him for the first time gave him skins you need to pay money for, just cause he said he likes their skins. 😅 Edit: Even know someone who started the game and got a legy for free cause he liked it. 😅
Normal siege, or as I often call it, *Walmart Siege*; only use Superior or Guild siege please. 🤣🤣 Also, jumping up and down in front of someone is also the universal sign of "Hello!! Happy to see you!". 🥰🥰
my bf got me into gw2. as someone who avoids mmos, mobas and more due to toxic communities every where, gw2 has surprised me tremendiozsly and i truely love being part of this crowd!
When you get to that one instance of Auric Basin where there's not enough people for the Octovine to make the meta trivial, you lead the meta with as little as 8 people until you break in to the city all this while helping on three sides at once.
Throwing in a "+role" in /d chat when joining (+dps, +aheal, +qdps, etc...) and -role when leaving is sooo helpful, but when I'm commanding a pug strike I have to constantly remind people joining to state what role they are.
CC one is good, but. I will say in some instances you need to know when to hold CC example is the Tangled Depth meta boss since they move around a lot, Sunqua Peak CM since you can wait till the 5th attack to pump out more damage and possibly skip a phase, and some instances with bosses in Strikes or Fractals where CCing when they're about to phase can bug out the encounter or overlap mechanics.
Normal siege blueprints have their uses. Superior blueprints cost more supply and guild blueprints tend to be expensive. Normal blueprints are useful for small groups that would require an extra supply run if they used superior, as decoys, or to throw on top of a dead foe to prevent them from seeing what's going on.
As a noob and hearing about DPS and Healer. That just makes me chuckle. There's no dps, healer or tank. It's a healing dps, tanking damage dealer, tanking healer and dps with extra steps. But hearing the roles I just image a single class. We need a DPS- Firebrand F1 "Hi". We need a tank- Firebrand F3 "Hola". We need a healer- Firebrand F2 "Bonjour". So many classes can just instantly switch and be any role. Revenant can just switch legends to the centaur and dragon if Herald and you got a support. Or dwarf of not Herald. But I'm just scared to death over being social. Just being invited to a party makes my heart race and a friend request is an anxiety attack. So when I got 3 guild invites I panicked. I will never loose my PTSD from reading one guild description over their rules of being on very long, report absences period and such. I am NOT committed to a god damn schedule or any kind of expectations to a game I casually play on and off. It's like playing casual TF2 and suddenly they tell you to wake up early in the morning for a rep on their strategy for a ranked leader board season. I still keep getting this one guild invite every time I login that I keep having to press ignore. Why is it popping up every time?!
Unwritten rules extras I could add: -you place a portal door from JW in front of the mad king for some attention : you’re a POS -You place Zeph box inside reward chests after Auric Bassin meta : you’re a POS -You go /m to ask for gold in LA : you’re a POS and cyber beggar Only to name a few 😌
3:48 on Drakkar Lake, we call this "doing the Baba" 😂 It's named after one of our most active commanders, Baba Jetu of the guild DORN, who has a bit of a reputation to do this ^^
Worth noting jumping might be so popular because you couldnt jump in gw1? Also unwritten rule number 1! - if you see downed person, ress them. How could you forget, it is staple of gw2. Might be even reason why people are so friendly and helping, since you are so grateful someone ressed you.
6:50 Oh god yes. I run dagger mirage because there's never enough CC, but even with my build I can only shave off about half of Sorrow's breakbar on my own before it locks again. Come on people, _one player_ should _not_ be 95% of the CC in the Convergence. No matter _what_ their build is.
The rez vs down thing is SO important, because of how gw2 event difficulty scales, which is proportional to the amount of players in the event's zone. When you are dead, you cannot contribute at all to an event, and because you take a long time bringing back to life, you also prevent others players who are rezing you from contributing to the event. So, you are keeping the difficulty higher, making it harder for everyone AND making things less effective. And even of you are successfully rezed, you will not be at full life, amd will have broken armor, making you less effective. Now other players might start dying too, and it spirals down quite fast sometimes. When you wp back, you will be full health, am will also let's you use consumables you would have a harder time using during the event, and most often than not, it'll be next to an anvil or a blacksmith, letting you repair your armor. Always help someone in a downed state. But fully dead people should always wp and come back. If you don't change map, you will get your credit anyway.
Used to respect duelers in WvW, but they didn't respect back, would always kill me when passing, even if I did not fight back, they would also pick the tail of every group that passed, so me and my guild make sure to shoo then away as we pass.
if braham has zero fans i am dead. mans was like 18 when his mom died in front of him bro i don't blame him at all for acting how he did in season 3. also it's kinda fun having an "ally" who doesn't fawn all over you the whole time
I just crafted my 4th legendary Binding of Ipos three days ago. It took me 4 years (maybe more), since I played way less than I used to. This time... I didn't ping my material nor my legendary after crafting it. I felt empty. Don't do the same mistake guys ! Celebrate that thing !
To tp back when you are fully-dead, is polite and very important because meta-bosses scale with players, even dead ones. If you're fully dead, you make lives of everyone else more difficult and expect them to rez you, on top. Also, yeah, don't nuke the treasure mushrooms. Announce they're up and hit them 5-6 times with your #1 skill..
@@Kaltsukka I believe it won't, since it spawned and there is no timer (like hero-point champions). Never happen to see a despawn, as most people just nuke it. Lowest-dps attacks (#1 skill, every now and then), so people can join; that was what I proposed :)
A love your videos Lara! I just started the game a couple weeks ago. I'm learning so much from you!. But the think I still really struggle a lot is in how to use the map! OMG it is so big and when events are happening, or the story ask me to go to a specific location I really don't know how to use it efficiently jajajaja. Usually when I discover the point where the rare beast appear or things like that, the event is already over! Maaaaaaaybe you have one video explaining how to use the map, like in all your other guides and just happened I didn't find it!?, if not, it will be amazing for disoriented people like me if you create one :)
One mistake beginners always make because of bad UX: don't join another squad if you're already in one, else you may merge the squads together, something you almost never have a reason to.
6:05 Achchchcually 🤓, I've started to take Lightning Hammer as Catalyst if we need CC and I make sure to let my team know I will be dropping one and tell them to use 3 and 5 for CC. It actually worked and we gained extra CC in Aetherblade Hideout. Sorry I realised I kinda spammed the comments...
Only started doing fractals recently, but if you join a fractal group, be prepared to accept the ready check thing and not afk for 1 minute before and after every fractal please. The time adds up and you're wasting 4 other people's time.
WIth the last one, if you ask for help defeating something in guild chat, map chat, pretty much anywhere, 9/10 someone will go "leggo where he at" and w key at them for you.
If an enemy player dismounts their Warclaw near you in WvW, you are required to 1v1 them. They have challenged you to a duel and not answering will bring you and your family great shame.
GW2 players often go out of their way to be helpful, but there's also a fantastic GW2 wiki. If you have a specific question that requires a long answer, try to find it there before asking for an explanation in map chat.
4:20 What I learned from playing strikes: Everyone has a baby, and that baby will just happen to wake up directly after we finish IBS5 Everyone always gets visitors directly after IBS5 Everyone's boss always calls directly after IBS5 Same for Recs in fractals.
Having played WoW, before GW2, I can attest that GW2 players are way more helpful and much friendlier than WoW players. I recently restarted GW2 after a long break, I had to start fresh, (lost old account login info) but I can't wait till I feel that I am proficient enough in GW2 to be able to help new players.
Ohhh I didn't know about the WvW dueling spot, I was really confused when I saw people doing that, and tried to assist them. I didn't realize I was being rude.
If they didn't jump, they're probably AFK or looking away, possibly with the hero panel or trading post obstructing their view. Trust me, IT'S DEFINITELY A RULE
0:47 I'm a victim of this many times esp KO strike due to my atrocious loading time (potato laptop) still in loading screen > start hearing intense music > finish loading > everyone is on the upper platform already and me ded you may see their characters already loaded in but their screen might still stuck in the loading screen 2 ways to check if they're still stuck in loading screen - click on their character, if you can't click them directly without using squad panel, their body (character) is there but their soul (player) is still in loading screen - use skill that apply boons/ barrier on them, if nothing happen, they're still in loading screen 2:47 I don't jump in respond when someone do this to me guess I have no humor ._.

Necros in GW2 are Tyria's Goths/Punks/Moshers: we look scary but we're nice people! We just think we can fix Scarlet Briar (by taking her to a Metal Legion concert).
Imagine logging in for the first time and there is 100 random people just standing there lol.
Totally get the vibes. I played Jade Dynasty and spent a lot of time at daily bamboo zone just to help/chill
With the new fashion inspect I love doing metas and just inspecting everyone and then picking a "winner" and whispering them that they got the best drip in the squad. :D
Actually after 300 hours I need a video like this since I'm starting to do a lot, A LOT of content that is not just story
Commanders don't get any practical benefits for leading a squad in pve. Say thank you when they work hard to make sure everyone suceeds! If you have a ton of gold you can even mail them a few as a tip, although no commander will ever expect that.
Thank you!!! I feel so appreciated 🥹
I'll usually have at least one person thank me but out of my years of commanding, I think I've only had 3 people actually give me a tip.
"If the Commander Jumps of a Cliff, the squad follows"
Oh yes, i remember tagging up for Drizzlewood once, i went a little bit off way just to get a PoI that i missed and half of the squad followed me xD
(Also 0:34 A Music Guild tries Legendary Temple of Febe coming soon :D ? )
If someone dropped food, banners and utlity items. Link them on map for everyone to have the effects. Especially on WvW and preparing for Meta or World boss event.
Great video! I agree with the "slash bow" for dueling in WvW and also never attack a WvW player in frog form or snowball!
If you join someone's group just so you can TP to Friend to get to where they are (such as at the treasure chest at the end of a jumping puzzle) remember to tip them,
Oh I remember one day when the Steam launch happened and a group of vets were waiting in Queensdale.
The real unwritten rule is to completely ignore map chat and say chat when doing unfamiliar content and completely ignore it
Im whispering every single one that has the Facet of prisms and boundless light title because its such an amazing feat and shows real dedication and lots of gold but anyone who can do the JPs and events over and over again for every single variant is the true Chad of GW2
Best GW2 content creator! She really plays this game.
no offense to laranity, she's great, but there's only 1 person who gets that title and it's the one and only Wooden Potatoes
@@marinhrabric6162 Guild Wars 2 community is very fortunate to have several great content creators!
@@marinhrabric6162 Wooden Potatoes was, but he’s MIA, doesn’t really play the game anymore.
@@marinhrabric6162 Wow! Defensive and a little aggressive. Must have struck a nerve.
Another WvW unwritten rule: if people are camping at the veteran spawn, just be nice and only attack the Warg or whatever it is they're waiting for.
One unwritten rule i didn't see- when on your skyscale, do not hover over other players. Go max height or use another mount.
This is so true! A lot of time half of my screen gets covered with flapping skyscale, which is annoying.
I hate it when the skyscales kick up dust.
My squad had a few "who stole the damn fgs" moments last clear, conjure stealing is definitely still relevant!
Never attack someone in a "Choya" tonic in WvW. They are being friendly even while on enemy server.
Edit: Even know someone who started the game and got a legy for free cause he liked it. 😅
Normal siege, or as I often call it, *Walmart Siege*; only use Superior or Guild siege please. 🤣🤣 Also, jumping up and down in front of someone is also the universal sign of "Hello!! Happy to see you!". 🥰🥰
my bf got me into gw2. as someone who avoids mmos, mobas and more due to toxic communities every where, gw2 has surprised me tremendiozsly and i truely love being part of this crowd!
can you imagine if they added the ArenaNet fence that is in lion's arch into that unofficial dueling area in WvW? 5:34 maybe one day🙇
I had someone come up to me and whisper, that I was in his top 5 best Sylvari he had ever seen in his 10 years of playing. One of my best days ever.
Do not attack frog tonic'd players in WvW - THIS IS A WAR CRIME
The rule where you don't pick up the weapon of ele's is difficult since your ele is being in downstate all the time so you press f constantly 😜
Unwritten rules extras I could add:
-you place a portal door from JW in front of the mad king for some attention : you’re a POS
-You place Zeph box inside reward chests after Auric Bassin meta : you’re a POS
-You go /m to ask for gold in LA : you’re a POS and cyber beggar
Only to name a few 😌
I just started playing and I don't know what most of these are but I enjoyed watching
3:48 on Drakkar Lake, we call this "doing the Baba" 😂
It's named after one of our most active commanders, Baba Jetu of the guild DORN, who has a bit of a reputation to do this ^^
Always say thank you after you finished fractal, dungeon or raid with your group
“Don’t pull them all” is a common unwritten rule for whole the genre.
Genuinely one of the most helpful guides for gw2 lol
If you don't change map, you will get your credit anyway.
minor correction: broken armor was removed a while ago, you no longer have to repair gear
Used to respect duelers in WvW, but they didn't respect back, would always kill me when passing, even if I did not fight back, they would also pick the tail of every group that passed, so me and my guild make sure to shoo then away as we pass.
if braham has zero fans i am dead. mans was like 18 when his mom died in front of him bro i don't blame him at all for acting how he did in season 3. also it's kinda fun having an "ally" who doesn't fawn all over you the whole time
yo this is so well edited and funny, it really shows the love behind making it
You can't do the Meta AB without shouting PICNIC at least once.
also tt, always picnic
To be honest some of the stuff you pointed out made me... emotional. Am I broken? Did I get to attached to the game? 😭
"dodge is optional"
instruction was unclear! my daredevil was so squishy i died early 🤣
That was the Cutest "Praise Joko!" I have ever heard. Love it!
@6:34 Tiffy is right. Treasure mushrooms and the legendary mordrem in silverwastes are two examples I can think of.
I'm with u on TeamBraham! 😂😂😂😂
just a couple of days ago someone whispered me complimenting my fashion, totally made my day.
Thank you,for this I hate being rude by accident. I want people to know I'm serious when I'm rude to them.
Wont the treasure mushroom despawn after a while if no one is attacking it?
At 50 Sec...
don't be a Leeroy Jenkins!
0:55 I WAS THERE (and then I was down shortly after xD)
Always leave an aviator box after Tarir completed
And say "r u stuck stepp Drakkar" on Bjora Marches
Thank you for the smile! This video is really giving me the motivation to get my computer fixed so I can play the game again :)
One mistake beginners always make because of bad UX: don't join another squad if you're already in one, else you may merge the squads together, something you almost never have a reason to.
6:05
Achchchcually 🤓, I've started to take Lightning Hammer as Catalyst if we need CC and I make sure to let my team know I will be dropping one and tell them to use 3 and 5 for CC.
It actually worked and we gained extra CC in Aetherblade Hideout.
Sorry I realised I kinda spammed the comments...
Never put down that Airplane box !!! EVER
Only started doing fractals recently, but if you join a fractal group, be prepared to accept the ready check thing and not afk for 1 minute before and after every fractal please. The time adds up and you're wasting 4 other people's time.
One time i had to run away from a raid cuz we got an earthquake warning... And one other time due to a fire alarm triggering lol
small correction, the pots ALWAYS make a big difference and should be considered mandatory t3 and upwards
WIth the last one, if you ask for help defeating something in guild chat, map chat, pretty much anywhere, 9/10 someone will go "leggo where he at" and w key at them for you.
Really good video, Lara! Bit of a different style of video but I think you've nailed it, your sense of humour really shines through! :D
I don’t even play gw2 but love watching your videos 😊 Ty for this insight!
Unwritten rule: During Dragonstorm, players are deleted for getting too close to Primordus/Jormag during the gliding phase, it happens quick
Thaaaaaaaaaat's why I died at odd times. Thanks for clearing that up
If an enemy player dismounts their Warclaw near you in WvW, you are required to 1v1 them. They have challenged you to a duel and not answering will bring you and your family great shame.
GW2 players often go out of their way to be helpful, but there's also a fantastic GW2 wiki. If you have a specific question that requires a long answer, try to find it there before asking for an explanation in map chat.
Also tip your commanders after good run, so they buy some drink and relax. :p
Tip if you ported to someone at the end of jumping puzzle (through lfg).

What I learned from playing strikes:
Everyone has a baby, and that baby will just happen to wake up directly after we finish IBS5
Everyone always gets visitors directly after IBS5
Everyone's boss always calls directly after IBS5
Same for Recs in fractals.
If someone uses their chair, you must form a tea party lmao
I'm definitely guilty of forgetting to use Food/Utilities in Fractal CMs.
The first unwritten rule: Don't "LEEEEERRROOOOOOOOOOYYYYY !!!!!!! JENKIIIIIINNNSSSS !!!!!!!!!!"
Ohhh I didn't know about the WvW dueling spot, I was really confused when I saw people doing that, and tried to assist them. I didn't realize I was being rude.
The amount of people who'd be in jail because they didn't jump with me would be insane.....
And I've only played for 60 hours!
If they didn't jump, they're probably AFK or looking away, possibly with the hero panel or trading post obstructing their view. Trust me, IT'S DEFINITELY A RULE
0:47 I'm a victim of this many times esp KO strike due to my atrocious loading time (potato laptop)
still in loading screen > start hearing intense music > finish loading > everyone is on the upper platform already and me ded
you may see their characters already loaded in but their screen might still stuck in the loading screen
2 ways to check if they're still stuck in loading screen
- click on their character, if you can't click them directly without using squad panel, their body (character) is there but their soul (player) is still in loading screen
- use skill that apply boons/ barrier on them, if nothing happen, they're still in loading screen
2:47 I don't jump in respond when someone do this to me
guess I have no humor ._.
This is such a great tip, didn't know you could check whether others are already in the instance since it's usually me who is late to the party lol
